Katongo brothers: Tragedy derailed us

ZAMBIA soccer team brothers, Felix and Christopher Katongo, have revealed that they were psychologically disturbed during the joint 2010 African Cup and World Cup qualifier against Algeria at Konkola stadium on June 20 as a result of the accident involving Felix’s vehicle two days before the match.

The two brothers have called on their colleagues to put the 0-2 loss against the Desert Foxes behind and focus on winning the remaining qualifiers and qualify to the first World Cup on African soil.

While the squad was fine-tuning for the crunch qualifier against Algeria, Felix’s Mistubish Pajero, while being driven by his friend Benson Banda was involved in a road traffic accident in Chisamba area on June 18 where three people including Banda died. Read more…

Mbesuma ‘having trials’ at Swallows

Former Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns striker Collins Mbesuma could find new home with Moroka Swallows.

Mbesuma, who is still without a club after Sundowns failed to renew his contract, began training at Swallows this morning.

Swallows’ assistant coach Zeca Marques confirms the presence of the Chipolopolo striker at their training session.

“At this stage it’s too early to say if we are going to sign him as he has just started to train with us. We are still going to give ourselves enough time to assess him together with the other trialists that are training with the club.”
