Height disadvantage for Dennis Banda
Green Buffaloes captain Dennis Banda has arrived back into the country after failing to secure a professional contract in China.
The Zambia international defender had sneaked out of the country early this month to the Far East.
He has however told Zambianfootball.net that despite impressing in the try outs he could not clinch a deal as he was deed to be ‘too short for a central defender’.
Banda who was an ever present fixture in the Chipolopolo back four until the AFCON in Angola was this week shoirtlisted for Zambia player of the year but was piped to the K20 mililion award by Patrick Kabamba.
Congolese born Kabamba who is now with Primero De Agosto of Angola also scooped the top scorers award which equally carried a K20 million boon at the awards ceremony in Lusaka this week.
Power Dynamos dribbling winger Simon ‘Diego’ Bwalya was voted the most disciplined player of the Zambian league walking away with K12.5 million.

Bwalya expressed happiness with the award, ”Much has been made of Zambian players discipline, but for me even with this money I will not indulge in beer drinking or driving around with women, I will sit down with my family and put the money to good use.”
Fighton Simukonda piped Wedson Nyirenda and Hector Chilombo of City of Lusaka to the coach of the year award.
