African Cup of Nations Golden Boot winner Emmanuel Mayuka returned to his base in Switzerland over the weekend and on Monday, the AFCON winner was unveiled to the press after Zambia historic win in Gabon 10 days ago.
The 21 year old gave an account of Zambia’s triumph including the experience which saw him grab the Golden Boot award despite finishing in level with Chris Katongo and Didier Drogba on three goals thanks to an assist.
Mayuka the press briefing the former Kabwe Warriors ace then was greeted to thunderous welcome by his teammates who he was meeting for the first since late last year.
In Eastern Europe, Chisamba Lungu has been invited by one of Russia’s state TV stations for interviews after the 21 year old attacking midfielder and Zambia’s heroics in Gabon.
The Ural midfielder confirmed in an interview with Zambianfootball.net from his base in Russia that he is heading to the Russian capital city.
“Yes, I have been invited by the state TV stations for interviews. I will be flying out today [from Yekateringburg to Moscow] and then from Moscow I will fly to Turkey to meet my teams,” Chisamba said on Wednesday morning.
The former Zanaco star is yet to meet with his teammates who are in Turkey for pre-season but was met at the airport by his club officials and supporters on Saturday afternoon when he arrived in Yekaterinburg.
Meanwhile Chisamba’s progression at the tournament has stolen the lime light from Ivory Coast’s Seydou Doumbia who campaigns for CSKA Moscow and was the top scorer in the Russian top flight last season. One of Russia’s daily newspapers who did an interview with Chisamba last weekend from Gabon in which the skilful midfielder talked about his dream of playing for Spanish giants Real Madrid had a headline ‘From Ural to Real,’ and they took a swipe at Doumbia, coincidentally the man Mayuka replaced at Young Boys in June 2010.
“[Chisamba] Lungu is now known in Russia. Many fans watched the [AFCON] final because of the Russian interest especially Doumbia who was top scorer in Russia but after the match it was all about Lungu because before the tournament he was hardly known as he was just playing for Ural [Division One side],” a Russian fan told the Zamfoot Crew after being asked about the new found spotlight by the Russian media on the Zambian international.
“With Lungu playing in the final while Doumbia was on the bench, there should be something special with Lungu and now his every move in Russia will be followed.

Hey! these guys honestly should have found a better picture in their Ural heading. Chisamba did not look okay washing his face. The eyes should have at least been open, i don’t like it at all. How can you go to real madrid with your eyes closed? It’s a dream! That’s what is being portrayed in this picture it seems.

Americans have a saying that “only a winner goes to dinner”!! The europeans r showing none of the rancour being exhibited by Southafrican club officials who r threatening our players with sanctions. How do u expect someone to perfom 48 hrs after a major championship like the Afcon?! The South Africans have truly betrayed their emotions; deep down their hearts they r depressed that Zambia excelled at the Afcon.pliz dont b jealousy.

@Jungleman, certainly thats not Chisamba in the picture. Perhaps those who who can understand the language in which the article is written can interpret for some of us. I dare say it looks like its some kind of Photoshop work which is nothing but a racist jibe because the picture is intended to project ugliness. Zamfoot you got sucked in on this one, shame!!!

For those who didn’t see the hand of God in Zambia’s victory over Ivory Coast perhaps Ivory Coast goalkeeper Copa may give you insight from this article where he confesses God’s hand in the victory by Zambia against his team “Zambia was God’s team – Copa” http://www.supersport.com/football/africa/news/120222/Zambia_was_Gods_team_Copa
