Kalaba still not in the ‘KK11′…as impressive Kola hobble

September 1, 2010

kola being walked off the pitch by national team physio and Dr Joseph Kabungo

Rodgers Kola joined the national team on Wednesday afternoon to give new Chipolopolo Boys coach Dario Bonetti a full house as the team entered day three of its preparation ahead of this weekend’s Orange 2012 African Cup of Nations qualifier with the Indian Ocean Islanders Ocean, Comoros.

And the 49 year old Italian born trainer made three changes from Tuesday afternoon training session ‘possible starting line up’ with Stopilla Sunzu replacing Billy Mwanza in the back four that comprises Joseph Musonda, Kampamba Chintu and Emmanuel Mbola to re-unite the Angola 2010 AFCON defensive unit that played all the four games.

Isaac Chansa who showed a lot of energy and mobility in yesterday’s training’s fairytale continues with another reward this time by displacing William Njobvu to  get the right to partner Noah Chivuta in the engine room.

Chansa showed a bit of his ‘Gatusso-ish’ style during training as he went on with a hard challenge in a 50/50 situation on the ankle of Nyambe Mulenga. This is after Mwanza who partnered Hichani Himonde at the heart of the second string side did a similar tackle on the Orlando Pirates midfielder, a second earlier as a small crowd who remained after watching Power Dyanamos thrash National Assembly 3-0 at the same venue earlier chatted ‘Gattuso…! Gattuso…!

Swiss based winger Fwayo Tembo who is still to show his sparkle in training so far made way for Felix Katongo on the left wing with Chris Katongo on the right.

Another Switzerland based player Emmanuel Mayuka was given the chance to shine alongside James Chamanga upfront but the 19 year old was a bit looking sluggish, maybe due to his lack of game time at his club Young Boys.

The main team was in green shirts while second string in all white

On the second string side, Fwayo played as a lone striker with Rainford Kalaba in the hole while Jonas Sakuwaha and Kennedy Mudenda who were replaced at half time by Kola and Simon Bwalya on the wings.

Kola, went upfront and Fwayo moved to the left with Bwalya on the other flank and Sebastion Mwansa in the attacking role in-front of Njobvu who reverted to the anchoring role.

In his 30 minutes cameo, Kola impressed with his movement and marked it with a fine cheek chip that beat Jacob Banda in goal to cancel out Chamanga’s goal for the main team. Unfortunately, Kola’s day ended with a harmstring in which he picked at the end of the session.

What would be your starting line up for Saturday’s match against Comoros? Have You Say

Hopefully being benched will help Kalaba find a club fast

Is it serious, we wait and see – hope not. I was going to say, Kola is a natural replacement for Jacob with height and speed. If he plays and works like he has been, he will be hard to leave out the team.

Mayuka and Fawyo need to find that Samuel Eto’o type of cutting edge to earn them those places.

If Kola is unfit, i would start Chama boy and Tsunami upfront with the view of someone coming to replace them latter. Can’t keep out Jet Li out or Kaka-Balika, they’ve always performed without playing for the their clubs. Noah and William may steady the ship, but let’s say Gattuso and William instead. The back line can be more or less as it was, Billy has yet to be tested in toughest circumstances – Gabon, Cameroun. Really the key word is EFFIENCY for me. We need to play clean and put away the efforts easily – whoever is in the starting line-up on the weekend.

My starting lineup is as follows: Kennedy Mweene-Joseph Musonda, Sitopila Sunzu,Kampamba Chintu,Emmanuel Mbola-Chris Katongo,Isaac Chansa,Raiford Kalaba,Flex Katongo-James Chamanga,Emmanuel Mayuka. Its unfortunate for Jacob and Thomas they would defenately start ahead of Mayuka and Chansa in my above team.

@ Bwana, I like the look of that team. Especially Isaac shielding the defence. He will link the play well.

  8. Big Steve from SA on Thu, 2nd Sep 2010 8:39 AM

@ Bwana I like your line up but I think you are contradicting yourself if you say ba Chris bali naka and yet you play old man Muso. In my opinion this was a game to play and blend the youngsters. Even Chama boy should only play when we play serious oposition like Mozambique but as for this game we should have Mayuka and Kola upfront. William is more defensive than offensive he cant play behind the strikers, I would swap him around with Isaac who hapens to be a box to box midfileder as well as a goal scorer.

  9. Masautso on Thu, 2nd Sep 2010 8:56 AM

I also agree with Bwana’s line up, may be my only change will be on Mayuka, i would prefer he comes in as a sub, and Chama boy should start instead. on william njobvu i would start Kalaba, despite him being indiscipline and Clubless the boy works hard and does not dissappoint, that is why we need him to find a club as soon as possible, otherwise nice line up ma bwana!

mweene muzo,hh,chintu, mbola stophira, isaac, chris, felix chamanga, mayuka in my opinion, we nid to hav a proper shield 4 the defence, strong, dominating and even intimidatg, stophira gets the nod in that position coz we dont hav too many options beta than him. in defence, we almost spoilt 4 choice

  13. Warmud on Thu, 2nd Sep 2010 10:01 AM

    _________________Sunzu Felix___________________________
    ____________________________William Njobvu______________

  18. Warmud on Thu, 2nd Sep 2010 10:58 AM

I have just read the Daily Mail, ticket sales at FAZ House, Caltex Filling station great east road and polic club near Nkoloma stadium. K40,000 open wing and K200,000 grand stand

  19. Ice Cold on Thu, 2nd Sep 2010 11:00 AM

    Let’s try a new line-up!!

    ————————————————-Mweene————————————————-

    Musonda——————-Sunzu————————Kampamba————————Mbola

    ————————————————-Njovu——————————————————

    Kalaba———————————————————————————Felix(Mudenda)

    —————————————————Chansa——————————————————

    —————————-Chamanga(Mayuka)——————————Kola————————-

The rest should warm da bench in this game. This is Comoros we are playing and not Real MAdrid or Man U! Hehehe!!!(of course not underating them)
I think the coach should develop other young stars by assessing them in games like the one we have on saturday. We should now be looking at phasing out players like Musonda(tho at the moment I don’t see a replacement for ba Muzo in a tough game), Chris and Mwanza. The strategy should be to play to win but also build for the future.

  20. chamz on Thu, 2nd Sep 2010 12:59 PM

I hope Bon continues HR policy of developing Abaiche like Mbola

  21. Zamfoot on Thu, 2nd Sep 2010 2:43 PM

The national team will be training at Nkoloma Stadium to have a feel of the turf this afternoon starting at 15:00 hours.

Comoros who will be arriving in the country at 23:00 will also have a feel of the turf tomorow in the afternoon.

    The Under-17 are regrouping today.

Lets go chipolopolo.. First game at home we need to hammer those chaps by not less than 4 goals.

My selection is a young squad. Deliberately left out Christopher, Noah and Joseph because of their ages. We may need experience in future engagements. Right now is the time for these lads to get match experience.

  24. Dinamo on Thu, 2nd Sep 2010 3:36 PM

Hey good to be back on Zamfoot.I saw yesterday’s training after watching the Power -Assembly game. The players called to camp look sharp and I think it wont be easy for new coach to make hist first 11.The coach also seem to be trying to to build from the AFCON team with a possibility of fusing in in form players like Chansa and others.I can see Zambia winning with a cricket score line agaist Comoros.Cheers

  25. Bonaventure on Thu, 2nd Sep 2010 4:17 PM

    MWEENE

    STOPHIRA CHINTU

    MUZO MBOLA

    WILLIAM

    CHRIS(FWAYO-SUB) FELI-GOAL (LATE SUB-KALABA)

    ISAAC

    CHAMA BOY(MAYUKA?) KOLA-JONAS FINAL SCORE 4-1

  26. sizu on Thu, 2nd Sep 2010 4:27 PM

though kalaba is clubless at the moment. i think the best midfield combination for saturday’s game is chansa and kalaba. arguably, kalaba is the most intelligent play maker we have at the moment.

  27. sizu on Thu, 2nd Sep 2010 4:43 PM

mr bonaventure, honestly, we dont need to allow any goals at home.

  28. Seen from afar on Thu, 2nd Sep 2010 4:59 PM

Sizu, i agree with you on Kalaba, he is a player that makes things happen. Atleast before he would be training in Portugal, but the lack of high level training is going to show. The sooner he finds a club the better.

  29. yelnatt on Thu, 2nd Sep 2010 5:36 PM

i hop we dnt get beatn again by an island lik zanzibar did..may God bles zambia.

  30. Zamfoot on Thu, 2nd Sep 2010 8:37 PM

Zambia trained at Nkoloma Stadium on Thursday afternoon.

Dario Bonetti kept the same probable line up as from Wednesday’s. Kola looks like he will be out with a harmstring injury

Bane am in Ghana and they have counted our U17 out here. I saw their stadium which they say is smaller than the Kumasi one-kwena twalishalila and Accra is a very clean town. Here we are again crying and wallowing in old and tired players in our national team that we have seen it all with. Ine i would rather lose with young talent Mwepya (Nkwazi) , Jackson Mwanza of Zesco the most complete player i have seen in the Zambian league this season. Players like Kampamba, Chansa, Chris Katongo etc will bring nothing new and need to give chance to others llike William, Mayuka etc who will soon get past their bes. As for Kakonje (who like the late Richard N+Mwanza will just be putting on weight pa bench) should be replaced by the U17 keeper who is extremely good and i was told plays for K-Stars (whatever people say the kid is damn good chapwa). Yes aainst Comoros these dinosaurs will shine but later, history will repeat itself and we will get 2 years back going to baiche as the heir apparent product (William, Mayuka, Mwepya, Jackson Mwanza, Mukuka Mulenga, Mwelwa Sakala etc) would have been frustrated. Like my stance on Sinkala that most of you remember, let’s stop wasting money and past sell by date professionals who have had their time and are now operationg at 60% of their former best levels (CHRIS KATONGO et al.). Thank od i wont be around to start cheating myself on Comoros a team we can beat even with our local players-20 professionals for what?
