Mayuka is one of the best

International striker Emmanuel Mayuka has signed for Young Boys from Israeli side Maccabi Tev Aviv for a staggering $1.6 million, Zambianfootball.net can exclusively reveal.

And the wonderboy is elated at the prospect of playing Champions League football next season after joining Swiss Side Young Boys.
Speaking in an interview with Zambianfootball.net from Europe, the former Kabwe Warriors boy wonder was excited with the deal:
‘’I am very excited with this move. I cannot wait to play in the UEFA Champions League.’’

Zambianfotball.net did exclusively reveal last week that Mayuka who now joins compatriot Fwayo Tembo in Switzerland was being courted by a Champions League and that team is Young Boys who finished second to Fwayo’s FC Basel.

“It will be good linking up with Fwayo here. Having him around here next season will help both of us settle down and hopefully have successful careers for our respective clubs,” the 19 year said.

mayuka signs for young boys

Mayuka was unveiled by Young Boys on Friday

Mayuka scored 14 goals in all competitions last season and emerged as Maccabi Tev Aviv’s leading in his second season at an Israeli glamour side after signing.

Earmarked as one of Zambia’s symbol of present and future, the teenage protégé announced his arrival on the international at the World Youth Championship in Canada in 2007.

After a starring role in Canada, Mayuka attended trials at Germany side Hertha Berlin, England’s Reading as well as Sporting Braga but it was another Portuguese side, FC Porto which expressed interest to sign the then 17 year old. While they were still negotiating with Kabwe Warriors, Maccabi Tev Aviv entered the chase for one of Zambia’s hottest teenagers and eventually signed for Israeli side in September 2008.

On the international, Mayuka scored on his international debut against Mozambique in the Cosafa Cup in August 2007. He has gone to earn 25 caps and was the youngest player at the 2008 African Cup of Nations in Ghana.

He was also part of the Chipolopolo squad at the last edition in Angola. Many pundits see him as the likely success to Collins Mbesuma.

Nice bane, this is what we want not Mbola and Sunzu i can not lie i am still disappointed with those chaps, I know TP Mazembe has money and am sure Moses Katumbi gives those guy each money to do whatever they want but football wise are they developing? i dont think so.The next in line will be William Njovu.

Speaking of developing, last year i went to mufulira so i had a chance of watching Damiona academy in action and there was a boy who really impressed me i approached him and encouraged him at the same time he told me his name is Tiz.To cut the story short 3days ago i saw this boy here in lusaka(chelston) i was very happy to see him and he told me his here insearch of a club, the boy has massive talent and it will be very disappointing to the development of football of this nation for this talent to go to waste. I got his number 0977101078 if anyone of guys can hook this boy up am sure he will be very grateful because he looks 17years old and of the right age. guys help this young boy.

Good move. I know Mayuka was real saga when he moved to Israel. It knows how to turn bad situation in to positive one. Switzerland is not bad. Good entry point some lucrative league in the Europe.

Well done Mayuka. This is fantastic news and I can only wish the young man all the best in Switzerland. Two seasons there and he will be ready for a bigger league again.

Jojo thanks for the factoid sheet, u always make worthy contributions on this site. Interesting to note that Clifford Mulenga the most celebrated and highly praised player from this class is still toiling in SA. I remember saying to myself in 07 that Fwayo, Kola, Mayuka, William, Mulenga and Nyambe were headed places. 3 years later 2 have proven me right, 2 are one the verge and 1 was on his way until and injury derailed him. While one has proven to be a prima Dona, if anything Fwayo was the best player in that class that’s y the Spanish giants came calling and now he is the highest Zambian transfer ever. I think is safe to say Collins Mbesuma has finally been forgoten. I just hope these young boys keep level headed and make us proud!!

I would love to help in some capacity with zambian football development…it is interesting that 6 yr ago, an israeli talked to me about bringing plkayers to israel….because he relative owned a club…they were impressed with africans….and yakubu was used as an example…we r at the threshold….I would .l……to get into football agency..I am cvonfident I can pass the test..but money is still a problem….what I can do is help some kid realize a dream…and that would entail referrals, medicals, travel…housing, international contacts…I eventually want to do this…..but for the tme bes.g I can do it for free…if u know any kids in zambia that have serious potential…my email is mar

Jojo-innovation at its best, keep them coming my man. Ba Kalampa, tomorroa Sunday 30th May 2010, we have a membership drive campaign at 14hrs pa BP Sports Complex and each one is urged to come with a K20,000 and a passport photo to enable us produce cards.
Mayuka, Jacob and Fwayo if in top form should now lead the Zambian attack as some players have had a fair share of personal to holder status to numbers with minimal delivery (just an opinion!!!). and we thank them.

  • Justice Kafusha wrote on 29 May, 2010, 9:53

Next will be William, Kola and Justine Zulu. Isreal and Tunisia are real window shops for players who want to progress

ELIAS the reliality is that you can not compare Congolose football to European football. TP Mazembe is not the right destination for world class footballers like Mbola. He needed to continue with his development in Armania then later on catch up with some big clubs in Europe.

  • Kayz wrote on 29 May, 2010, 10:42

Thanks ba Zamfoot for all these updates………………..News from Angola. Ba Maliti, this boy needs help his a very good midfielder i only watched once in mufulira at Damiano academy the next time i saw is here in lusaka a few days ago and i decided to get his number coz i was impressed with the way the boy handles the ball and disappointed to find him loitering in chelston apparently looking for a club according to what he told me. It hurts me to such talent going to waste. please somebody help this boy (Tiz 0977101078). Maybe we might all benefit from him. Though i don’t much infor on him i’ve only seen the boy twice.

This is great news for Mayuka and Fwayo. This is the right step if our National team has to compete with Africas eliten, not detrimental players like Kalaba and Mbola whom we all wished would reach higher hights one day.Shame on you.Bravo Mayuka and Fwayo. What out for Rabby from Nkana.

  • Chipoya wrote on 30 May, 2010, 22:31

    Gud news guyz

  • ROK wrote on 31 May, 2010, 8:47

A very good move indeed but my only worry is the amount Mayuka was sold for, US$50,000 and look at the amount he has been sold for after a short stint. A difference of US$1.550. Surely we are being ripped off for not having a sing FIFA registered players’ Agent. I know Kabwe Worriors is entitled for Training Compensation and Solidarity Mechanism as stipulated in Artcles 21 and 22 of FIFA’s Regulations on the status and Transfer of Players but surely to get a player at US50,000 and later on selling the same player after barely 2 years for US$1.6m is not fair to the country. Imagine what Kabwe Warrior could have done with such an amount. However, overall, the deal is good but we need to do more as a country in this area so that we can directly market our players so that, in turn, we can hugely benefit from such players as a country.

  • jojo wrote on 31 May, 2010, 9:41

    Rok,

U ask KCM how much the Chinese rip from Copper after process it.Kabwe Warriors today are able to travel comfortable out of the $50,000.00. Ba Rok and the others are hve jst eaten a HOT PIE , you the guys behind the so called Mayuka SAGA.Hats off to Joe Mwala and Nir Karin.Mind you Kabwe are entitled to a % in the $1.6 million.

  • Amuna Onzuna wrote on 31 May, 2010, 11:31

This is very good news for Zambia,2 Players going to Europe in one season?.It reminds me of what Kalusha once said that; the more young Players we send into Europe, the better will be the perfomance of Chipolopolo because of the good training facilities and exposure’. There was alot of rubbish which was said about Mayuka after Kabwe Warriors refused him to join an Israeli side,it had to take Mayuka’s Mother to give consent since the Boy was underage, many thanks to Mrs Mayuka. Now,we shall all benefit from this move,$50 000 will produce alot of happiness, and Mayuka’s pay will also rise in Europe and he will help his Mother more and more, thereby bringing plenty Euros into our Economy making the Kwacha stronger.Shame to Kabwe Warriors and everybody who spoke ill of Mayuka’s move to Israel, the Guy was going to be stuck at Railway ground drinking chibuku under Mr.Happy Sichikolo.Lets be progressive, lets encourage the young Boys into Europe just like most West African Nations do.
