Chamanga and signs

Though most leagues have been concluded in Europe and Africa a couple of Zambian players were in action in Botswana, Finland, Swed

en and China.

Zambianfootball.net takes a look at how they fared for their respective clubs.

China

James Chamanga scored a brace in Dalian Shide’s 3-0 win over Chongqing Lifen in the Chinese super league.

Chamanga put his club 1-0 up in the 11th and completed his brace in the 90th minute, his third goal of the campaign in 7 appearances.

Despite having being called for the Chile, the 30 year old stayed at his base.

Finland

In the top tier, AC Oulu lost 2-0 to third placed Haka in a league match in game Oulu dominated.

Dominic Yobe started and played in the holding midfielder role while his elder brother, Donewell came as a second half substitute with 15 minutes to go.

AC Oulu, which was promoted last season is now placed second bottom placed after 7 games played.

In Division 1, RoPS continued its unbeaten run and stretched their lead to 13 points after a 3-0 win PK-35.

Winger Chileshe Chibwe and Chanda Mwaba were on target though the latter missed a penalty. Defender Stephen Kunda was also in the starting line up while Godfrey Chibanga and Nchimunya Mweetwa came on in the second half. Christopher Musonda replaced Chibwe at halftime.

Sweden

In the second tier normally refered as Superetan, Edwin Phiri played his 7th game of the season and helped Ljungskille to a 2-1 win over leaders Norrkoping to end their four game unbeaten run.

Phiri has just missed one game this season and has scored a goal.

Elsewhere in Superetan, Boyd Mwila started on the left wing for FC Trolluttan but was substituted in the 78th minute.

Mwila is on loan from Djugardens.

Botswana‘s Bee Mobile ends

by Bonaventure Yombwe(Gaborone)

The Botswana Bee mobile sponsored league came to an end this weekend. The P1miiliion pula already rich league champions added another silverware to their cabinet by beating the Wesley Mondo tutored Mochudi Centre Chiefs by wining the Coca Cola cup which carries a cheque of P500 000.

Chiefs wrapped up the league with a 1 nil win over troubled Motlakase Powere Dynamos coached by Madinda Ndhlovu of the Zimbabwe’s Ndhlovu fame (brother to Peter). By coming second Chiefs will take part in the CAF confederations cup assuming Rollers try their luck in the lucrative CAF champions league.

Chiefs have lined up Mondo(coach), Given Mpundu, James Kachinga and Musonda Mweuku. Kachinga’s young brother Goodson is a former U20 world cup player in the books of Red Arrows. There is also word going in the grapevine that Chiefs have resolved to rope in Mike Sithole who once coached the team.

At the low tier of the table lies Botswana meat commission (BMC) which has escaped the relegation axe. In his team Mike Sithole has crafty Derrick Badibanga Ntumbayi and dimunitive ageless Aaron Kale.

Other notable Zambian players include Micheal Bulaya and langson Sichula of Notwane united while Gaborone United, last year’s champions have Ronald Chikomo. Two Zambian coaches were fired this season due to a string or poor results being Manfred Chabinga(GU) and Stanley Mwaanga of Botswana defence Force(BDF).Chris Chibuye also spent a couple of months at Uniao Flamingo Santos before he resigned.

The other successful coach is Beston Chambeshi who led Chiefs to an unbeaten league run in 2008/9 before trekking back to his childhood based Kitwe to assist Fordson Kabole at Power Dynamos.

Zamfoot the pol on the Zambia Chile game is raher biased towards Chile dont you think??

Bonaventure Yombwe thank you for the update from Botswana, seems quite a number of Zambian players are doing their thing in Botswana.

What is hapening with Nchimunya. He seems to be constantly coming off the bench these days. At one point he was on fire just before his injury now he seems to be playing second choice striker.

Sure. The odds are on Chile to win. It’s not being biased but they are the bookmakers favourite for a win. For those who are betting, they are putting their money on Chile. Chile is ranked 15th while zambia is on 71st. What do you about kalaba moving to sundowns? Will he be in the starting line up week in and out at sundowns with players like Pelembe, moriri, vilakazi, pattison, nyandoro and our own Felix katongo?

I was hoping to speak to one of the guys at Sundowns to get inside info if it is true that Kalaba is actualy going there in the first place but I have not been lucky. Do you have confirmaton that he is actually going to sign or has signed? I know Sundowns and Supersport under Pitso were looking at Kalaba and this wont be the firs time. He has failed trials at Sundowns before but I think with the pedigree he has risen to now it is a different ball game altogether.
Kalabas versatility makes his chances of making the first team pretty high. I dont think he will have much of a chance if he aims at playing anywere in central midfield but if his aim is the wings then he has a very big chance of claiming that left wing were Lebogang Mokoena plays from time to time. They dont have a natural for tha position and being a double footed player whose able to cross with both legs I think he can claim it. It wont be easy but as we all know he has the ability.
Sundowns are still in search of a coach so if he is coming this will be the right time before the new coach is tuned in to some of the players. This will be the right time just as the coach will be learning his new team as well.
Centre of the park will be too much to ask with Moriri back to fitness, Nyandoro who has become a cult figure at the brazilians, Pattison who in my opinion is the one of the best ball distributors from central midfield in the PSL etc. As much as I would like to watch Kalaba in the PSL come August i dont think it would be the best move for his career. Has bragga had enough of him that they have cut ties now?

Nchimunya has been injured a long time. According to the reports he is almost back in his good old shape. Lately Nchimunya has played very well and in that match against PK-35 he had some great scoring chances but he just couldn’t get it on target.

As we all remember in season 2007 Nchimunya scored 17 goals in 24 matches.

Thanks for the update. I am a little suprised at the time frame though, he has been carrying this injury for almost two seasons. Hope he is 100% now and just fighting to regain match fitness.

Ba Kalaba, now Sundowns??? This is climbing down on the ladder.

Anyway, it will be better for him to find a home soon than continue running around the streets of CB.

Zamfoot any news on Fwayo and Mayuka in Switzerland. Do we have the name of the team looking at them?

    Zamfoot,

If it is Switzerland my guess is Basel FC as they are the ones taking part in the Champions league after winning the league in Switzerland. They are a very good club and have dominated football in Switzerland for some time now. If I am not mistaken they once even reached the group stage of the Champoins league.

    Let us wait and see
