Kennedy Mudenda, Rodger Kola & Emmanuel Mayuka were the stars of CHAN 2009 qualifiers
Zambia will play South Africa national Under-23 soccer team side in the second round of the African Nations Championship.
And giants Nigeria have been dumped out the competition exclusively for local players after they drew 0-0 with Niger in Kano who had a two goal advantage going into this fixture. Click here to check out which teams will qualify.
The South Africa’s developmental side comprising mostly of under-23 players beat Botswana 2-1 to book a date with Zambia.
The Amagluglu will host the local copper bullets on May 22 and travel to Lusaka on June 5 for the return leg at probably Nkoloma Stadium.
With the backbone of the team that came third at the inaugural tournament in Ivory Coast now playing abroad, Herve Renard whose contract talks with the Football Association of Zambia start next week for an extension is expected to start his search for new talent.

I hope that this timne our boys will be able to over come the South African Boys especially that they will be playing to impress for the World Cup. The technical team has a lot of work on their hands.
2010 is not a year of experiements but positive results and success. So let their true colours show. No fevoritism! Ba FAZ mwamvela especially Kalu………..

Has any one seen the works on the Ndola Stadium as seen on the back page of today’s Post? It is looking progressive.
Justice Kafusha on Mon, 29th Mar 2010 5:09 PM
Yes there is really progress
Mphatso on Mon, 29th Mar 2010 5:54 PM

Looking forward to Chan of course. In other news, Ivory Coast have chosen Sven-Goran Eriksson! I’m hedging my bets and saying IC will be disappointing again in SA, I think they left late to sign a coach and Sven is not the right man.
Abena kitwe in Gabs on Mon, 29th Mar 2010 6:09 PM
hope the game will be at athur davies in kitwe. The stadium is good compared to nkoloma.the pictures on supersport were good.even the standard of the game between Power/Zesco was good. We seem to be getting somewhere despite our confusions.

So why exactly were we on bye in the first round seeing that DRC the defending champs were in action? Did someone withdraw or what?
Asilikale on Mon, 29th Mar 2010 7:48 PM
Nowdays football is at descreation rules are applyed at ones desire, first twists happened at CAN angola 2010,instead of Gabon qualifying it was cameroon i dnt understand as well.
Back to the topic,i watchd the first leg South Africa vs botswana men it was awful. We are whackng the young bafana bafana in both legs, unless otherwise.
Justice Kafusha on Mon, 29th Mar 2010 7:58 PM
Check cafonline.com, there is an explanation regarding the rules

Niger have qualified for CHAN2011 in Sudan at the expense of Nigeria who they beat 2-0 in Niger and forced a draw in Nigeria (0-0). It is their first qualification ever for a major tournament
Justice Kafusha on Mon, 29th Mar 2010 8:17 PM
Due to the number of teams in each Zone, some Zones have only had preriminary rounds followed by the first round to decide who goes through
Our Zone and that of East Africa will have to go to the second round to decide who goes through to Sudan
Zambia is the only team on bye from the Southern Zone. The five winners will join us in the second round whereby the winners from each game will qualify for Sudan. We have 3 places in the Southern Zone. I hope the best teams qualify
Second round Southern Zone
South Africa Vs Zambia
Seychelles Vs Zimbabwe
Angola Vs Malawi
Zimbabwe seem to have it easy, while we are favourites Vs SA, as for Angola Vs Malawi it is 50-50
Cheers

Preliminary Rounds

I was praying that we meet RSA and it happened. SA is dead scared of Chipolopolo ever since we demolish them 3-1 in their backyard with their Brazilian coach, goals by C Katongo. Thats the reason why SA always sideline Zambia in international friendlies. So am happy we’re meeting again.

Thanks for that explanation JK.

Thank you sir, that clears it up for me
Mabbwana on Tue, 30th Mar 2010 7:23 AM
Its all the way to the finals, we still have good players on the local scene,
Richie on Tue, 30th Mar 2010 8:17 AM
We need to start fine tuning ourselves for the S.A game and this both the team and we,as supporters have to be in top gear. The S/africans are taking this game serious so there is no room for last minute preps, for me the team that will invest adquete energies, time and resources in preps will carry the day.
As fans we have to start preparing to come and sing from the 1st whistle. We have a chance
Miza on Tue, 30th Mar 2010 9:19 AM
Ok Now we should sing from first to lats whistle. Not what I saw during ASEC and ZANACO match.
Sande on Tue, 30th Mar 2010 9:28 AM
Zambians let us embarass SA again! Who are the start players again pa ZED to do the damage?
chiti chitundu on Tue, 30th Mar 2010 9:35 AM
lets also fuse in experience like billy mwanza and misheck lungu. lets not be like other countries taking some games or tournaments lightly. it all counts in building a stong image for the nation. lets also see if we can have maybin chishimba ku left back .
Amuna Onzuna on Tue, 30th Mar 2010 5:35 PM
I hope HR wont be critisized over his 4-3-3 formation, coz ,we need an attacking side to defeat the young Bafana Bafana.
Justice Kafusha on Tue, 30th Mar 2010 7:40 PM
It will all depend on the players from the local league. I am not sure as at now if we have the players on the local front as some of those who were at the last CHAN have left. I hope some under20 players who are good enough from the team that won the under20 COSAFA can be included
Any news about Nyambe Mulenga???
GB on Wed, 31st Mar 2010 3:20 PM
Makundika sakala, the two kennedy’s chola and Mudenda, simon Bwalya and the ones mentioned above
chiti chitundu on Thu, 1st Apr 2010 12:21 PM
@Justice Kafusha
nyambe has started brisk walking an jogging a little. i wish that the money which was given to the team at the afcon THE players contributed atleast 500,000 pin each to nyambe just as a token. he was really instrumental in the qualifiers. just an initiative by the players maybe. if i were captain i would have suggested that,
