A crunch weekend for two Zambian clubs in continental competitions garners momentum as Zesco United are expected to jet out to Nigeria today while Zanaco’s opponents Ivorian giants Asec Mimosas are expected in the nation’s capital today as well.
Zesco delayed their departure from yesterday but their players status committee chairman Moffat Sakala has confirmed the Ndola side will now be on their way to face Warri Wolves in trouble torn Warri region today.
Coach Fighton Simukonda is bubbling with confidence and has declared his charges ready ahead of the CAF Club Confederations Cup second round encounter on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Zambia champions Zanaco’s opponents Asec Mimosas are expected to arrive today for a tough match at Nkoloma Stadium on Saturday.
Zanaco who returned from Zimbabawe where they drew 1-1 all with Tenant Chilumba’s new side Hwange and later beat Highlanders 1-0 in preparatory friendlies, are confident they can pull off a handsome win that will stand them in good stead for the return fixture in Abidjan.
Meanwhile, FAZ deputy disciplinary committee chairman Anthony Kasolo has allegedly apologised to his chairman State Counsel Sunday Nkonde after the two differed in interepreting the FAZ constitution over the suspension of Simataa Simataa from all football activities ahead of the FAZ AGM on March 27.
Sources close to the State Counsel have revealed to zambianfootball.net that Kasolo sent Nkonde ,a senior lawyer, who served Zambia as Solicitor General for 6 years, a text message to apologise for the ‘pain and anguish’ caused by his (Kasolo’s) wrong interpretation of the FAZ constitution over Simataa’s suspension.
The FAZ executive committee, however, remain defiant Simataa is still suspended.
Simataa has petitioned the removal of FAZ boss Kalusha Bwalya on 12 grounds at the AGM.

All the Best ZANACO and ZESCO just have confidence and you can pull a surprise. For ZANACO, ASEC MIMOSA is just a name like zanaco whether they have won the trophy before or not that should not be a scare to you go on and fight the battle we are behind you guys.
the guys who were at CHAN last year in ivory coast should draw strength from the fact that they won there and beat the ivorians on home soil…. so it is possible to pull a victory there. its a game wich we should play to win, the other things is that goals at this competetion play an important role. an away goal is important also, but lets play to win , the team look sharp in training at independence and it was nice seeing billy look fit and ready. ZEGA!!!
We r behind u guys zesco just mak sure u score a goal,zanaco dont allow 2many goals
I challenge the sponsors for Zesco and Zanaco to seriously consider investing in infrastructure for their clubs.These are Zambia’s top clubs at the moment and they should have decent home grounds,with facilities like camp houses,training grounds and even club houses were fans can meet and mingle with the players.I like what CEC is doing at Arthur Davies and the improvements being done at Red Arrows’ Nkholoma stadium which is now the only stadium to talk about in Lusaka.KCM and GRZ have also jointly done something to upgrade Konkola and it is now some decent ground at club football standards.Club sponsors should begin to move away from the idea of only looking at assembling a formidable team to win titles and begin to invest in things like infrastructure for the betterment of our game.Imagine the squad Power Dynamos could have assembled if they didn’t spend the billions on the upgrading of the stadium, the club house and the camp house?.Today Arthur Davies is the best in the country with a smooth training ground which is by far compared to the standards at Trade fair grounds,sunset and etc.This is the direction our clubs should be taking than these shortcuts going on.
All the best to Zanaco and Zesco.Cheers
All the best Zanaco and Zesco.Ba Dinamo how are u in Lusaka.
Ok
if footbal ws o abt talkin than playin we could ve won da afcon n gone 2da world cup sori we ve 2play it.
Yes Dinamo, these clubs need to invest in infrasctruture too. Zanaco should seriously upgrade Sunset stadium. Mopani Copper Mines should also emulate CEC. We are told CEC spent only US $ 650,000, which at todays copper prices, fetches about 100 tones of copper. Surely cant mopani put aside 100 or even 300 tones of copper and do serious upgrade of Nkana stadium. The same applies for Kansanashi in Solwezi.
i think ZANACO will go far, as for ZESCO i ithink last year teams underatted them, so this year they will be waery of the team. i just hope they jack up their act even more….
gentlemen what happend to the following
BOYD MULWANDA
EVANS CHISULO
EVANS MWABA
KELVIN CHISHA
KELVIN MWANZA
KELVIN KALILA
MANNASEH MWANZA
DABWITSO NKHOMA-
MWELWA PHIRI – FORMER POWER DYNAMOS
DUDLEY FICHITE
i saw evans chisulo in livingstone playin in a pre season tournment.
Great picture, the combination of the guys departing and the poles (Ya malaiti) behing gives it a ZESCO heading…. All the best as we also build for Chan.
I have just observed that all our Zambian players playing in DR Congo and Nigeria will be involved in the Champions league action this weekend
Sunzu, Singuluma, Himonde, Mwansa (TP Mazembe)
Felix Sunzu (Lupopo)
Signs (Heartland)
I really hope Zanaco do well and progress to the next round and then Group stages. I expect Zesco to kickout the Nigeria side
Cheers
All the best to our teams.
Great thought Dinamo.
Where is HR and what is doing now?
@Dinamo
Dinamo, this is what I really have failed to understand, as to why these companies and corporations have not built or at a minimum improved their stadia. All the focus seems to remain on government for some reason. I think if teams with proper sponsorships could improve their stadia soccer standard will improve noticeably.
@Chiti chitundu

Subject : Older And Wiser Zesco United Head to Warri
Message :
Zesco United coach Fighton Simukonda is hoping his clubs fortunes in Nigeria this year will be fruitful when they visit Warri Wolves on Sunday in an Orange CAF Confederations Cup first round, first leg match.
Zesco’s last visit to Nigeria was last year in the Champions League when they lost 3-2 to Kano Pillars in the group stage of CAF’s premier club competition.
Simukonda has however said he knew nothing about Wolves who, unlike Zesco, have come through from the preliminary stage in this year’s Confederations Cup after eliminating Atletico Olympic of Burndi 2-1 on aggregate.
“I have got no idea, I cannot lie, I have no idea,” Simukonda said.
Simukonda said his players head to Nigeria this year older and wiser after their previous experience away to Pillars.
“When we played Kano Pillars, it was the first time some of our players were exposed at that level and now we are playing a different team,” he said.
Simukonda’s side faces Wolves who are coached by Lawrence Akpokona who is no stranger to Zambian opposition at continental club competition level.
Akpokona led Ocean Boys in the same competition last season against Zambian club Red Arrows in the first round but lost 3-2 on post match penalties after a 2-2 aggregate score line despite winning 2-0 at home in the return leg.
Simukonda said it will be an open game despite Akpokona scheming of avoiding a case of De Ja Vu against Zambian opposition this season.
“You can be in Nigeria and you can be here in Zambia but the type of football is totally different,” Simukonda said.

@Inquisitive
i saw HR yesterday at Golden Bridge Hotel having a chat with Asec Mimosa officials
Ba ZAMFOOT how far has Mbola’s case reached?? Is he still in Zambia as well or is he back at his club?
Hope he was not selling Zanaco
We shall be there to support you tomorrow, baZanaco. As for Zesco, electricute those warriors. All the best
Ba Justice stop being speculative please. HR or you for that matter have every right to speak to anyone. Some prejudicial character might jump on your speculation and make a big thing out of nothing.
Haszesco arrived safe, i hear the place they are playing isnt that safe. i dont trust CAF these days and their decisions i think they are not competent.
@chiti chitundu
Evans mwaba had a serious knee injury whilst at rangers and that was the end of his career..
Mwelwa ’successor’phiri is drinking chibuku in kitwe
Still in Zambia waiting for FIFA ruling on his status. Minning Rangers wanted to register him for the season but have had a change of heart. Until FIFA rules on his Pyunik contract looks like he will stay put.
Or looking for a job lol
Oh no here we go again… I can see a headline from some paper somewhere atti HR trying to get job with ASEC Mimosa….lol
Thanks for the information. let us hope all goes well
Paulsn you never know in this world. Anyway I do not want to cause a problem on the blog, my statement is herby withdrawn.
hereby
Uncle Bobs is it 2moro we are beating Nkana 5-0?
2sam pipo renard cn nt do nthin rite.cnt dis man b free?or is he a caged lion.com on we o r free 2talk 2 n1
@Justice Kafusha
we shall see if u think ba Nchanga can beat us(NKana) 5-0.be carefu with Rabby Lwambula.
If the boy had not lied about his age all these issues would not have arisen.
The boy was in grade 12 in 2006, does he mean he was 12 years old in grade 12 in Mansa???? He must have been a genius.
I am referring to Mbola
It is like most World Cup participants have already arranged friendly games around the end of May and beginning of June. I do not know what has FAZ been doing? I do not see Zambia anywhere. We could have arranged Vs one of the big guns and played the game in one of our neighboring countries where there are big stadiums. This really a shame because we could have asked those countries that are in the same group with Nigeria and Cameroon as we played these guys at ACON: But now it is too late it seems
08.06.10 Portugal Vs Mozambique
13.05.10 Angola Vs Mexico
Zambia Vs Nobody
Anyway we have to just accept that it is the way it is.
Of course us (Rangers) will beat Nkana and collect the 3 points. just wait and see, Brave Rangers is back with a bang
It still kicks my balls when I see the government make a budget of 16trillion Kwacha and fail to raise 500Billion Kwacha for re-building Independence Stadium.Surely,do we need to go and beg from China for a Loan when me as a tax payer through ZRA can raise this money?
yes mbola cheated hence da lies followin him.dis should send a warnin n lesson 2 would b liars.
It sacks to hear people making fan of Renard.To me,he is the cheapest foreign Coach who is working on the African Continent.KCM only provided $25 000,and the Government has raised money only for the National Team.Most of the critics of Renard are Zambians who are foreign based,people who do not know how poor Zambia has become.Justice and your Team,we cannot afford a Coach of your choice,and the best of what you can do is contribute some monies to pay the type of Coach you want.
Iwee ba zamfoot,how abt ama fixtures ya local league 4 this year?power 4 lyf
All Brave Rangers fans with your Choir Leader Justice tomorrow you will eat your own words. Wina a za lila.
I do not know what your point is in your posting. The issue of HR is a baby of FAZ. And I for one do not care who FAZ employ as coach as long that person delivers. Mind you 25,000 dollars is not small money. Roald Poulsen used to get less than that. Why take things personal? My statement regarding HR was withdrawn but here you are taking things personal.
How much have you contributed to HR’s wages? If I may ask
Hahaha, 2moro we shall celebrate, ni Rangers. This is reminding me of those days I was in Chingola. Anyway we will wait and see
Cheers Sibs
All the best the 11 time champions,i mean Nkana kalampa as u take on brave rangers in chingola.Go Nkana Go.

Goodluck to Zanaco
what time is the zanaco game starting?
katongo has scored. a nice goal
I am on my way to the zanaco game but i am stack in traffic . And this will be my first live match . Hope for a home win
@Anonymous
when is it starting?pls keep updating us here
zanaco look to be stabilising though sidney in mid not too good. asec are attacking. Henry Banda missed the best chance.
By now the game has started but it seems a heavy rain is about to pour here in LSK. Hope it won’t affect the game.
Zanaco under pressure, asec almost scored. Zanaco defence always out played in every corner.
The boys need to settle down if the have to win. I think Asec is here to collect 3 point. Thomas, nketani need the sub. the lose the ball on the mid.
Stil 0-0 ZANACO stil on pressure.
Zanaco mid is causing problems to the defence. Sidney kalume substituted for Venecius mapande.
Half time still 0-0. I hope the second half Zanaco will settle. The 1st. Half was full of mistakes more especially on the midfield.
C Katongo scored the opening in the 27th minute on their 3-0 win at home.
@Tm jics
Thanks for the updates..at arthur davies power are leading konkola 1-0….
The second half is underway stil 0-0 and Zanaco looking favourite now with back to back chances with Allan Mukuka causing problem to Asec defence.
Its a GOAL!!! MAKUNDIKA SAKALA. Zanaco 1-0 Asec
Its a goal 1- 0 to zanaco no 9 sakala the scorer
Stil 0-0 here at rangers.cmon kalampa
10 minutes to go and zanaco is still pushing forward. Allan Mukuka badly fouled but no card produced. Henry Banda out Judge Mukandawile in.
That game must be boring
3 minutes to go, Asec almost scored but it went wide.
In the dying minutes and Asec are looking for an equalizer. 3 added time and Matthew Macha missed a clear goal. Last chance for Zanaco a foul.
Full time ZANACO 1-0 ASEC MIMOSA. Hope u enjoyed the update because am not good in football updating. CONGRATULATION TO ZANACO.
@ Justice Kafusha
Game over rangers nil nkana nil
Thanks for the updates. Though the scoreline margin is low the good thing is that ASEC Mimosa did not score any goal. Zanco can still goal through via a draw or a loss of say 2-1, 3-2, 4-3. All they need to do is score a goal away. I hope they will play more league games before the return game. 2 to 3 league games will be good for the players
Cheers
thanks Tim Jics -much appreciated for the updates…well done!
Who has scored?
power have beaten konkola 2-0..joseph sitali and kennedy mudenda scored the goals for power…..
Thanks for the updates and thumbs up to Nkana for getting a point. I did not expect this. As for Rangers let us shift focus to our next game Vs Forest Rangers.
Thanks Tim Jics!Gud work.
Thanks Tim jics and Tino for the updates. Justice Mudala mwapusikeni!
Nchanga 0 nkana 0. Dismal display frm both teams
Congratulations to Zanaco. You wanna win by more than a goal at home but a win is a win.
We have shared the points, not good for us as we were playing at home. I hope we do better in the next game
Congrates Power. thats the spirit. the legue should go to kitwe thats where it belongs.
Zanaco played badly in first half and played better in 2nd half accordng to the update,if its true zanaco played well in 2nd half then its a sign of gud whn they go to ivory coast,Zanaco has qualified believe me.Asec will be under pressure at home knwng Zanaco wil go to defend a 1-0 win.Knwng Zanaco coach he wont sit down to defend but wil brace out for attackng to win.
Raja Casablanca have an 18 year Zambian born Malian..midfielder….so this chap is zambian by birt..I really hope FAZ are working flat out to monitor zambians born here but whose parents ambian parentage..the westaor one parent is foreigner. I hope they keep tabs on youngsters born in other countries through one or both zambian parents…north african and west africans are relentless in this regard..this why they qualify for the world cup….this increases the quality and selection pool….come on zambia…no world cup friendlies when mozambique and angola are playing top teams going to SA2010…no monitoring of zambian footballers…the kid in morocco for Raja Casablanca is souleymane Demba…playing in chapions league…has anyone invited him to feature for a junior team?
j.mulenga on target for his club.1 nil, 19 min gone
Where are you watching
@ife ndife ba zambia
Defending champions TP Mazembe of DR Congo and six-time winners Al Ahly have suffered a shock defeats in the second round of the African Champions League.
TP Mazembe went down 1-0 away to APR of Rwanda.
It looked like the match in Kigali would end in a stalemate, but APR had other ideas.
Albert Ngabo scored in stoppage-time to give his side an advantage ahead of the second leg in Lubumbashi in two weeks time.
Egyptian giants Al Ahly also lost away 1-0 to Zimbabwe team, Gunners.
Norman Maroto produced the only goal of the game after 22 minutes.
Al Ahly brought on their big stars Mohammed Aboutrika and Mohamed Barakat at the start of the second half, but Gunners still held on for a famous victory.
Tunisian giants Esperance made no such slip-ups at home to ASFA Yennenga of Burkina Faso. They wrapped up a 4-1 victory in a dominant performance in Tunis.
ZANACO need to win or draw the second leg. But it will hard for them. They needed more goals in the home tier. 1-0 is good but not convincing enough. ASEC will go in an onslaught offense in two weeks. If were Nyirenda, I will develop a game plan of offensiveness combined with defensivess and agility in the midfield to contend the towering and wounded Asec Mimosa plus the 13th player in their local backyard.
Awaiting Zesco results …. Our Blessed Zambian Republic … Shalom
