The local league in Zambia resumes this afternoon with a some scintillating matches to savour around stadia dotted around the country.
Champions Zanaco should have faced runners up Zesco Utd but are away in Zimbabwe to prepare for the CAF Orange Champions league against Asec Mimosas at Sunset Stadium next weekend.
However there are other interesting matches to look out for this weekend including the return of Zambia’s most glamour side Nkana under Benjamin “Kawilo” Chilongo.
Kabwe Warriors now under George “chicken” Lwandamina and his new assistant Happy Sichikolo formerly of City of Lusaka are expected to pull the crowd at Edwin Imboela where they face promotional side Nkwazi.
FULL FIXTURES
Konkola Blades v Nchanga rangers
Nkana v Red Arrows
Choma v Power Dynamos
Forest Rangers v Lusaka Dynamos
City v N Assembly
Roan United v Green Buffaloes
Nkwazi v Kabwe Warriors

Drama in the Germany 2 Bundesliga (For those interested)
There is drama in the Germany second division. Chris Katongo and Arminial Bielefeld are now 5th on the table with 43 points after they were beaten 2-1 by Alemannia Aachen. Surprisingly former international Andrew Sinkala and his club FC Augsburg have silently sneaked into 2nd position and are on 50 points 4 fewer than league leaders 1.FC Kaiserslautern who are on top. The top 2 teams qualify direct to the Bundesliga next season, while the third placed goes into playoffs. Sinkala’s club is in action now. After this weekend’s games there will 10 games remaining before the close of the season
Games involving Zambian players in Europe today (for those interested)
13/03-2010
Karlsruhe Vs Augsburg – 13:00 hours (in progress)
Lorient Vs Lens – 19:00 hours
VVV Venlo Vs Utrecht – 19:45 hours
Just a quick question.
How come Zanaco are allowed to go to Zimbabwe for friendlies when the league is resuming? Surely the league has to take precedence and Zanaco should have been barred from travelling. This is week one and already the league will be out of sorts because of this.
Isn’t playing Zesco good preps for the visit of ASEC?
Eyes on the ball??
Was just wondering as well. The game Vs Zesco would have given both Zanaco and Zesco good preps. I really do not see the logic in this
In addition Zanaco travelling by road to and from Zimbabwe????
Nkana, rangers and city are all losing 1nil at halftime…
