Dennis Banda is believed to be attending trials in China

Green Buffaloes skipper Dennis Banda is believed to be attending trials in China. The 22 year old centre-back has been missing from the Buffaloes training session as the Aggrey Chiyangi tutored side has been preparing for this Saturday’s mouth watering clash against Zesco United at Nkoloma Stadium.

“Dennis left the country early this week. He went for trials in China,” a Buffaloes player confirmed to the Zamfoot Crew on Wednesday.

The former under-20 starlet was part of the Chipolopolo squad that reached the last 8 at the African Cup of Nations in Angola but did not play a single minute despite being the back bone of the defence in the qualifiers.

Should he impress and sign, he will join another Chipolopolo Boys player James Chamanga in the Chinese league who is on the books of Dalian Shide.

Last season, former Chipolopolo Boys defender Billy Mwanza spent the whole season in China. The tough tackling defender is now back in the local with Zesco United.

Meanwhile arguably Zambia’s best player in Angola, Rainford Kalaba is still in the country despite signing a six month loan from Portuguese side Sporting Braga to Zamalek from Egypt.

Kalaba’s action to stay AWOL has prompted Braga to recall the midfielder and try to sort out his future.

“Kalaba has told me that he will not join Zamalek and I am worried right now about his whereabouts, so is Braga and his agent Graham. I don’t know where he is and there is no communication. The last time I spoke to him was on Wednesday last week.

“People in Portugal have been asking me about his whereabouts but it is difficult to give them any information, considering that I am not in touch with Kalaba,” Afrisports director Gabriel Kaunda told Zambia Daily Mail in an Interview.

According to Filgoal.com, Zamalek spokesman Sabri Serag said they have decided not to wait for Kalaba’s return.

“We will not wait for Kalaba’s return and now we have to get our refund from Braga,” Sabri said.

“He has not trained with Zamalek or with his team in Portugal, he needs to return to match fitness and time is not enough for that since we have already played three games,” Sabri said.

Kalaba’s refusal to join Zamalek stems from a dispute over his monthly salary.

Zamalek are believed to have promised Kalaba US$25,000 per month but later offered him US$20,000.
But Kalaba is also said to have personal problems that are affecting his professional career.

20,000 vs 25,000. Is 5,000 the amount of money this guy would risk stalling his career for? I wonder what goes on in some of these kid’s heads

Maybe he has been put off by high tax like others in Europe. Surely US$5000 difference in not bad. Unless there are other ‘problems’ that we don’t know about Rainford then we understand. But from the times I have spent with him HE IS A GOOD BOY.
For Dennis Banda, FAZ president King Kalu warned the players about being acreful before taking professional contracts. i just hope Dennis is not going to the wrong place.

Certain Zambian players will always have problems. We should just learn to live with this. Today it is Kalaba, yesterday Felix, the other Fwayo.

And this Dennis at 22 heading to China, even SA is better

Looking at James Chamanga’s performance i think the Chinese league is very competitive and i wish Dennis good luck.

West ham utd are paying egypian striker mido£1000 a week, our zambian players would have refused ati yachepa, what football has ba kalaba played such that he can can even refuse a $20,000 monthly salary, this is a player who only plays well when hes playing for the national team, when he goes back to the club its the same old story of sitting on the bench, time is going, kalaba has been warming the bench ever since he left zesco, hes been loaned to about 3 different clubs already and the situation has not improved,he gets a chance to revive his career at zamalek and he blows it..what a shame..somebody needs to sit him down and pump some sence into that head of his…

If it is the Chinese league I have been watching then it is not the right place for a player in the class of Banda. Unless there are 2 Chinese leagues

    @Jojo
Nice mdala on Mbesuma, very funny. Well Dennis shouldn’t be too quick for this. I may not know much about the Chinese league but there hasn’t been much coming from that side to make believe otherwise, cause I think there could be better leagues.

Justice, I was watching Mpila Zambia on supersport and the Zanaco coach wedson Nyirenda said he advised the players to consider playing in China than in South Africa, the Chinese league is more competitive than the PSL.

This is the reason we should be playing official friendly games. How are we going to improve on our number 73. We have to play teams like North and South Korea, Kenya, China, these we are sure of beating

Looks like Renard will remain the head coach for the foreseable future. Will likely sign an extension.

gb :@Justice Kafusha Justice, I was watching Mpila Zambia on supersport and the Zanaco coach wedson Nyirenda said he advised the players to consider playing in China than in South Africa, the Chinese league is more competitive than the PSL.

We have been exporting players to China and they all end up coming back home to zed before they are even 30 years. I know a lot of them. If our players went to China and progressed to Europe thru the Chinese league that will be supported. Billy Mwanza is back and so did Sydney Tembo or is it Mambwe.

I have watched the Chinese league and I am so sorry to say it is crap. Chamanga plays as a right winger at his club (misplacing him) we all know he is a striker. How many Zambian players have got anything for playing in China. Even the conditions under which they live is nothing to talk about

Let us start sending Zambians to China to learn how to construct stadiums, in that area the Chinese in the super league, no more no less

I think the matter of our National coach should be solved forthwith. kasengele can you please quiken this process. It should not take 45 years like building a Stadium. Do it and now

gb it seems as though reaching the 1/4 finals for the first time in 14 years is so great that FAZ are using that as a pillow, until the next AFCON. They think they have done so much. Yaba 1/4 final we respect that but we need to continue and not go to sleep please

Thats the funniest stuff I’ve heard all day Justice, lol. You make some very good points about the Chinese leagues. I personally know a former national team player who played in China but ended up back at Zanaco. In my opinion, the Japanese of Korean league would make more sense (if going to the far east is the goal) as they attract an interest from European teams. I think that the agents that these players use are very near sighted and have very little interest in the genuine progression of these players.

Guys, the pay in the Chinese league is very good. We know that a lot of our player are motivated by money, so draw your own conclusions.

Whisper :Guys, the pay in the Chinese league is very good. We know that a lot of our player are motivated by money, so draw your own conclusions.

How much do they get? I do not think the money is that much as this depends on which club one plays for. Chamanga can get more money as he was signed from a SA club, Dennis will get peanuts as he goes dirct from Zambia and he did not even play in any game the last AFCON. in my view Dennis should have waited 1 to 2 years, at 22 ati waya ku China, takwaba

  30. Justice Kafusha on Thu, 4th Mar 2010 10:10 PM

And yet we would like to win the next AFCON and qualify for the World Cup. With the way issues are developing we will need to do like Australia move from Africa and play in Asia, after all we beat North and South Korea

How did China fail to qualify to SA2010 if their league is good? From Asia for that matter (with all respect for Asia bola takwaba awe)

  31. Man ceasor on Thu, 4th Mar 2010 10:25 PM

  32. Jojo on Thu, 4th Mar 2010 10:45 PM

I think rotson kilambe once played in china as well..i honestly dont know how strong their league is..am worried about our defenders, while our strikers are playing in some competitive leagues in europe it seems our defenders are not progressing,it would have helped if we had 2 or 3 more defenders in europe, dennis wants to go to china, hichani and stopilla are in DRC,chintu and muzo are 33 years old(should be thinking about retiring),mbola has issues,God knows how nyambe will recover after his injury, kasonde nankwe he is in oman..ama defenders besu, katwishi..

  33. Asilikale on Thu, 4th Mar 2010 11:07 PM

All these wrangles abot Zambian Players being transferred abroad are being brought about because of povert. Each and every person involved in the transfer process wants to have a chunck from the transfer fee. These contracts should be sworn in at the courts, that way this ni chekeleko will come to un end.
