Munaile defends the role of the technical committee
Football Association of Zambia, FAZ Vice President Emmanuel Munaile has defended the role of one the association’s main sub-committee.
“The technical committee constitutionally has a mandate to appoint the technical team. Tell me who appointed the people who are working with Renard? It is the committee, isn’t it? So the issue of interference, what interference when it is our duty?” the Malole member or parliament told the Post newspapers.
He said that interference would only arise if the committee imposed players on Renard.
“Look… unless we tell Renard who to play. When you talk about interference, I do not know what you are talking about because for the past two years I think he has been given the leeway to do what he likes. If you tell him who to play, that is interference that even me as chairperson of the technical committee cannot accept,” Munaile said.
He added; “Read the constitution, it is very clear on the role of the technical committee.”
Article 33:2(xiv) of the FAZ constitution on the duties of the technical committee states; “to be responsible for the selection of the national team managers, coaches, doctors and such other officials for the executive committee’s consideration.”
Meanwhile Former FAZ Boss Simataa Simataa has said Renard should have considered President Banda’s offer even in the face of adverse criticism from the media and the public.
“Renard has not behaved correctly. The patron, the President has assured him and wanting him to stay. No matter what the offences were, whether criticism from the media or from supporters, you don’t repay that by talking to other people, wanting to join them,” he said.
Simataa said it was unfortunate that Renard had violated the FAZ constitution provision of being answerable to FAZ.
“According to the constitution of FAZ, the national coach is answerable to the technical committee which is also answerable to FAZ executive committee. Unfortunately the coach is only answerable to FAZ. It’s sad that Munaile head of technical committee has been reduced to nothing,” he said.
During a press conference at Football House on Wednesday, Renard confirmed discussions with unnamed countries for a possible switch.
He also said he would not allow any reshuffles to the technical bench should he extend his stay at the helm of Chipolopolo.
Meanwhile, Simataa said the current FAZ executive did not deserve absolute praise for the national team’s performance at the just ended Africa Cup of Nations in Angola because the previous executives also played a role in the success.
“I have difficulties to give total praise, absolute praise for the Angola outing to this executive because those players are not coming out from the last two years, some of them come from the Teddy Mulonga executive, others from the Kasunga executive. Let’s reach 2014 then we will see what the Kalusha Bwalya executive has left us with,” he said.
Simataa also called on the National Sports Council of Zambia to take action against FAZ for defying their directive to take action against culprits of the London fiasco.
“The London issue was a symptom that became a disease, I have no kind words for that executive, sports council directed them to take action but they are quiet and sports counsel is quiet, where are the rules?” he asked.
Simataa called for the sacking of FAZ general secretary George Kasengele if the affairs at Football House were to improve.
“If I were to be elected president of FAZ, the first thing I would do is to fire the GS general secretary and immediately advertise his position,” said Simataa.

I dont knw wat to say but may be renard should have played it law.suppose is not picked by that same team that he’s been talking to? thats wen he’s going to accept the new contract from us? Simataa is right. Renard will face bigger critism wen he goes to the world cup. It took him 2 years to come up with the team that can bring results and he thinks that he can take a team to south africa with players he knws nothing about. He tells me that 3 months remaining before the world cup is enough for him to come up with his own team? I dont think so. So if i were him i would remain here continue with my success story until 2012 and Brazil 2014 by then he wuld have gained massive experience and become a household name on the continent. So in the mean time we wait and see the drama as it unfolds. Have a blessed day!!!
HR said lets wait for the next few weeks. We will wait and see if a WC team offers him a job. I wish he could stay with Chipolopolo to build his career.
Renard should go.
Renard should just go. I dont understand you people, let the man go if that is what he wants. Enough is enough, don’t you think we are making him grow big headed with all this rubbish discussions going on.
Rangers tap Mwinilunga talent
SUPER Division side Nchanga Rangers have acquired the services of a Mwinilunga player Emmanuel Phiri and four others for their campaign this season kicking off next month.
The Chingola-based team has also re-engaged striker Ignitious Mukota formerly of Angolan side Premeiro de Agosto.
In an interview, team coach Bruce Mwape named the five as Mukota, Aubrey Chamulwanda, Humphrey Chandila from Mufulira Wanderers, Kabwe Chileshe, Cletus Chota from Zesco Mansa and Phiri from Mwinilunga.
“We have acquired there more strikers in Ignitious Mukota, Kabwe Chileshe, Emmanuel Phiri, Humphrey Chandila and midfielders Cletus Chota and Aubrey Chamulwanda. These will strengthen our team as we try to settle in the Super Division,” he said.
Mwape said although the team would miss Fred Macha and George Chilufya, who have trekked to Zambia’s CAF Champions League envoys Zanaco, the team had enough players to fill the void.
“When players leave, it is a chance for others to step in and prove themselves so we are hoping the replacements will do a good job,” said Mwape.
Welcome back Brave Rangers and good imitative of getting players from rural areas too. I wish my team all the best, Ba Bruce Ba Mudala set your targets high.
About HR the thing is that FAZ have offerred to extend his contract, the rest is up to him
From what i know most International Coaches when appointed into a job they choose who the want to work with. This important cos they need to work with people the know.
Though most local Coaches are recommeded cos the new Coach would not know the local Coaches when new in his job.
I find it ridiculous for the FA of any country to choose all the assistant Coaches for the Senior Coach. Look at the Capellos, Parreiras etc they come with their own assistants. The English FA would never overhaul the entire bench for Cappelo. If you want to change Coaches fire the entire bench not just assistants.
Though i think i have had enough of this HR story.
I cant agree more with you guys, I dont see the reason why HR should make us or FAZ feel guilty. This country has made him, he should remember that he was an unknown failure before he come unfortunately he has continued with his failing ways. What a shame. Please Renard go away & find your heaven else where we have our own issues here your making it all worse. FAZ we can find a more experienced, mature & better coach. Renard Zwaa!!
thats what I dont understand gents, why are we putting the ball in his court, why are we making it his decision. And to top it all a decision he is taking his sweet time with. I mean even the president is involved now, just out of reepect he should say what the plan is.
No matter how the coach choose who to work with,it doesnt go without the consultations and agreements of the technical commit.
At this time we cnt say Renard go,he has signed an extention with Faz.We just wish Renard doesnt become more indiscipline as he is indiscipline alread.
With zambians advise Renard will go very far but his own arrogance betrays him.
The way we run football in african leaves much to be desired. I don’t know this FAZ constitution was writen, maybe during bola bola league by then Rupia Banda was president. If am appointed chief executive of a company, i should have powers to employ officers i feel good enough. Why should the constitution of FAZ have that clause of appointing everyone on the bench. Jose Mourin left chelsea on that basis. Everywhere in the world coaches come with their bench. I think HR has a point, munaile too because of the constitution. This conflict will not end and will lead us nowhere.
Its up to Renard!!!!!! The constitution has spoken. Sorry for soccer
Oh he has signed an extension with faz?
@Justice Kafusha

Hey Mudala we are back in the Super League while others have taken so long to do so like ba Mighty who are no longer Mighty coz they are still wallowing in the lower league. Nice to see the team being coached by old faithfuls like Bruce Mwape. Makes me remember those old Nchanga players like Frijo Mulenga, Stone Nyirenda, Peter Mwanza, Happy Sichikolo, late Benyamin Abaleya Bwalya, Robert Watiyakeni, Wedi Nyirenda and so many others, those were the days when we used to enjoy football mwee!!!
mbesuma was a bench keeper/warmer. he was told to keep the bench, but when zambia scored against Gabon he celebrated so much that wen he came back the bench was stolen, then he had to report the case to the nearest police station.milanzi came to support him in the hearing. thank God the bench was found which means mbesuma ll keep on warming the bench for the national team.he is a good keeper
am joking,guys enjoy the day.
As I see it,there is a problem with Munaile and Co.Obviously, they are interfering. Those who made that constitution, put a back door which they could use to interfere so as to satisfy their selfish needs.
Let HR have his way.Stop being petty.Even as fans we had 2010 ambitions. Why should nt a coach?I personally like his directness.
As for SS and his big-mouth syndrome, let him concentrate on Makumbi Stars or whatever they call it.
Long live Kalu!Long live HR!
From everything that HR has said before and at the press briefing, he wants to leave, he’s just waiting for the ticket. That’s the way i read it.
He might use the Munaile thing as an excuse, but shocking as that incident was, i think he get’s plenty of reassurance from other places and i don’t think it would be the real reason he wants to leave. He’s says he’ll be honest and that he dreams of going to the WC.
The Munaile thing seems so strange, i can’t even go in to it now…
Brave nchanga rangers that is good idea of get players from rural areas.know guys from mufulira wanderers are good players thats Aubrey &Humphrey
Welcome back, and i hope this time you will stay, i sense the true patriot in you as bravo, lol, mwa soka ba mighty and yet you have gone to them to beef up your team, you should be even worried that you went mu 1 when you have a sponsor. LOL, i cant wait for the new season mwe
Zambia is much better off without Renard, what has he got to show that he is a good coach even local coaches are far much better by far, he was just lucky in that game we won against gabon. For me polsen was the best coach. Faz start Ideantifying the local coaches wait until the expirely of the PE instructor’s contract, he wants to go and let go.
@Spaks
true.this year i expect Ba Bravo Naba blades to be in the top four. at least they have recieved goodwill from KCM. At least ka K50mil per month with other logistics in place as well.
The smallness of our football politics is just mind boggling! Munaile and the so called Committee can not and should not just impose any assistant coach on Herve Renard. They can recomend whom they thing is viable but the final say is up to Renard or whom ever else that comes after. This is a simple case of a few men with small ego’s who want to come off like they are really that important and intelligent when the naked eye can see that they are just petty and egocentric. Munaile can claim/quote any law he wants but the fact is he tried a back door manouver and he got exposed with his henchmen.
This is simple, they can recommend assistants and the coach is free to choose whom he wants. Munaile and co want assistants they can control and keep in there pockets. This mind set is what is killing us in football and the politcs of the nation. If Renard re-ups his contract he knows whom he wants to work with and he has created a certain level of repore with these individuals, the results which have been good if i might add. But the small minds want to reinvent the wheel under the pretext of Law!!! please!! Continuity is the key here and if we let ego control us we will keep going around in circles. We should not accept these underhanded schemes and politricks, the ship has sailed dont sabotage the crew!!!
Hr shud jst go naimwe! His record isnt impresive. The team performed wel coz of gud prep facilitated bt Govt period. Not coz of the movie star ful of acting & smiling at the camera at afcon to market himself. Let him go.am sure we beta off without him!
Zambian fans are worse than Osama Bin Laden. They are like Chintelelwe. Shame on you who can not give credit where its due. Let Fatty Simata tell us about his stint with the under 17. Prostitutes are better than some of you guys on this blog.
lOOK AT MUNAILE, YOU SENSE TENTION AMONGST THE TWO.
Simataa, this guy is a joke. Never let this guy run for President. Renard can do what he wants, He’s not a slave. Its called, Equal Employment Opportunity in a competitive market.
This is what happens when the president of the association is not seen to be operating full time. Munaile and his team had a good idea which was necessitated by the turn of events, in this case the performance of the team. They thought the team needed drastic changes, which I believed it did, however, their timing was way off. They should have waited until after AFCON to announce their intentions. Unfortunately, in Zambia, there’s always someone ready and willing to run to the media and expose the very thing they were just a part of! This is something they should have run by Kalu before making public. Kalu, has to show leadership and put everyone in their place. State why certain decisions were made and ensure that HR does not show contempt for his members of the executive publicly. Mistakes were made, but they should be addressed immediately! Additionally, like Big Steve from SA notes, the ball should not entirely be in HR’s hands. FAZ have to show that they are in control. Yes, HR took the team to the QF’s at AFCON, but a lot of other factors contributed to that success which have been captured by many contributors on this blog. FAZ have to be firm. Set some rules, not only for your players but for your employees. Renard has as much to gain from you as you do from him. Take a stand Kalu!
