FAZ to extend Renard’s contract

Emmanuel Munaile with Herve Renard & Marcha Chilemena. FAZ is eager to extend the Frenchman's contract
Football Association of Zambia, FAZ is believed to have offered a contract extension to Coach Herve Renard that will see the Frenchman be in-charge of the Chipolopolo for both the Gabon/Equatorial Guinea 2012 African Cup of Nations and Brazil 2014 World Cup qualifiers.
And the Frenchman who returned from Angola on Monday is scheduled to hold a media briefing on Wednesday mid-morning at Football to tackle a few issues with his contract and relationship with the media top of the list.
“Renard’s contract will be extended, FAZ want to him keep up to 2014. He has said that his ambitious and his dream is to coach a country like Morocco, Senegal or Cameroon but that won’t prevent the association from extending his contract,” a highly place source told Zambianfootball.net
On the stories coming from the International media that he was eyeing and held talks with the Nigerian Football Association for the Super Eagles job, the Zamfoot Crew source rubbished the rumours as just mere speculation.
“He wants to coach Cameroon not Nigeria. If he was offered that job (Nigeria) today he would refuse it. He is aware of the politics involved in Nigerian football,” the source added.
“But at the moment he is 100% committed in taking the Chipolopolo to greater heights as he demonstrated in Angola.
In the last few days, the future of the Frenchman has been public domain after he gave interviews that his ‘dream is to coach a top African country’ one day during the just ended African Cup of Nations in Angola were he guided the Chipolopolo Boys to the last 8.
Good for Zambian Football, Continuity is the key!!! Hope this story is true, and i hope the French man clears the air with regards to the media, fans and Faz. Expectations are hight after what we achieved in Angola and only hope that the new goals that are set if he does sign an extension are to win in 2012 or get to the final and most importantly qualify to Brazil 2014 and win AFCON CUP 2014. Anything other than Winning 2014 afcon cup or getting to the finals of 2012 afcon cup will be a failure in my opinion.
With an improved contract of 30 or 40G per month, HR will sign. Wise move by FAZ. Good news for Zambian football.
We just await the media briefing and hear from the ‘horse’s mouth. what is on his mind.
I would HR that the best he can do for his career is to extend his contract with FAZ! I see him to mature to a better coach after AFCON 2012! Let him build on consistency and mantain the same players with the rest competing for a “vacancy”! Let us learn from Egypt for betterment of the team, we need all the lads who went to AFCON! On his part, HR, let him improve on game tactics as it seemed lacking considering his non-impact substitutions!He need to read the game or maybe consult his experienced folks for the African football! HR must again never compare Zambia to Mozambique or Angola even RSA, we are the giant of southern africa let alone among the best five in terms of enterprising football, skill! Good Lucky HR and congrats on your achievement at the previous AFCON!
If HR’s heart is not in this, then please by all means, let him go. I hope this is not as a result of his failure to land his desired job that he’s coming back to us.

Egyptian giants Zamalek FC have signed Zambia midfielder Rainford Kalaba on a six-month loan deal from Sporting Braga, the Cairo club have announced on their official site.
Kalaba, who spent the past six months on loan at Uniao Leiria, is believed to have signed a deal worth €450,000 with the White Ahli were also interested in the 23-year-old’s services, but decided to pull out of the race after rejecting the loan option.
Kalaba is a regular for Zambia, starting both games against Egypt in last year’s World Cup qualifying campaign.
The promising playmaker was also a member of the Chipolopolo squad in the Africa Cup of Nations, where he scored a crucial goal against Gabon in the group stage.

Very good news,extending renards contract would be good for both zambian football and Mr renard himself,at this moment he is the best man for the job,he knows all our players and our style of play,the experience he gained at the afcon will only be benefitial to us,in the past we have often parted company with our coaches immedietely after the africa cup,for once let us maintain the coach so that we benefit from the experince we have given him..

good move by Faz. I hope HR accepts the offer.
This is good because I’m a fan of continuity. However, I agree with the people who are saying that if HR is not committed to Zambia then he should go. I also think it is time to start working on Janza or Wedson as future national team coaches because we need atmost commitment. I hope HR can clear the air and we can start to look forward to 2012 and 2014. Hope we can also see ourselves in 2012 olympics that should be our first stop.
Yes Awe, he has to show he is committed.
I will find it hard to forgive him for saying he wants to coach a top side whilst we had not been eliminated yet and when we just entered the buisness end of the competition! He has to make it up to other people like me who share this view, because whilst many are pleased with the break through, it’s unacceptable no matter where you are in world. He crossed the line big time on that! He has to acknowledge the press and the fans and not go taking the national team hostage on some personal crusade. Even he doesn’t realize it but he owes allot to the football community and fans, not just to Kalusha and RB. Coaching Zambia is great opportunity for almost any coach because of the great (underated Fifa wise) potential that exists and the coach that doesn’t see that is a fool. The players play hard and want to succeed and the fans can grumble and protest but we can be sure they won’t go burning down buildings…
We want to win things now, weather we are ready or not we have to make it our destiny. That is what the potential suggests we can do. That is our ambition, as long as a coach can find it in his ambition then it’s a match.
No way would you raise the salary! Allot of people took issue with a foreign coach, but it’s more to do with the fact that he is paid so much and it’s improportionate to everyone else. I think it’s a very generous sum even for a foreign coach… No way should it be increased, we should aim attract ambitious coaches, don’t take advantage of them, but pay them fairly!..
Please let this idiot go. he is just using us cause i honestly believe he needs us more than we need him
Nigeria has qualified for the World Cup and their fans have high expectations from the Green Eagles while the Chipolopolo made it up to the quarters in the 2010 AFCON and we celebrated.. Wait a minute Renard you might just mess up your blossoming coaching career if you join Nigeria. Conversely the higher the risk the higher the yields maybe its worth it for Renard to take that risk if its just for the money.
Kalushs Bwalya may lack administrative skills but certainly he seems to understand how to develop a national team for the long term.One way is maintaining a coach especially one with potential like Renard.
Nice move FAZ……continuity is what has brought two world cup births to Ghana…..
PHD as usual.
A lot of guys are suporting the move and probably for continuity it is good but if Renard has only flown back to zambia for the simple reason that he could not crack it with a bigger team after Afcon then his heart is not with the zambian team. I hope one of the journos asks him directy if the reason he is back is because he did not manage anything with anyone of the bigger teams at the Afcon. If HR continues to preach about ambitions to coach a bigger team the his heart will not be with Zambia for the long run because as soon as a bigger team shows face he will run to it. This is a delicate situation as we cant tell at this moment if it is for real that he wants to take us higher or it is just a simple lack of a better job situation. The people at the press conference should preare their questions in this regard well.
Egpty is not a good place Junior Agogo got finished; I hope Rainford won’t change his name to Ahmed Sheikh Mohamed Salim Kakabalika
The very fact that you live in South Africa waters down what you are saying. I believe that the reason you are in SA is because of better career opportunities. I am not against that. So, what is wrong with HR seeking better employment?
Jose Mourinho says he wants to coach Man U, one day. Fergerson wants to coach England. All of us search for big things in life, I think you guys just have the Zambian poverty mentality thinking.
HR has come back to Zambia becouse he did not succeed in getting a job with his so called top african team he was ready to fly from Angola to Lagos. He should not be allowed to use us any more. He was a no body when he came to Zed but he has now became so big headed that he makes us Zed fans feel our country is not good enough for him anymore.
I appeal to FAZ to let HR go Zambia can do much better than this french man. let HR find a top african team that he feels he deserves to coach. We have done every thing to make this champ happy, with President going out of his way to make sure that our national team coaches are cofortable and yet HR has not appreciated a thing. HR had the audacity to remain in Angola doing Interviews with Nigeria instead of coming with the team to be hosted by our precident at state house. We surely can do much better than HR .
What has he done wrong? He promised Afcon and we qualified, he said quater finals and we reached, to be honest guys, I don’t understand your thinking. Have you never went for interview while you are already employed somewhere else? I fail to understand why u think a coach is different?
HR staying on the terms of us the stakeholders is good but not on his terms lest he states that our next target is a semi-final berth just because our team isn’t good enough. Let’s support him and FAZ by not through cadre mentality of supporting everything they do. After all no one is indispensable and HR should know this.
Ba Kalampa we need your support ku Nkana as we are now making things move. Advise your email or telephone number so that i share with your minutes of the two meetins we had last week (Stakeholders and General one). Ifwe nomba ni action twanaka using fingers (typing) and mouths (talking and stifling opposing views)!
By the way, Kalampa faithful can contact me on 0977 781007
Somehow I feel the FA president Kalu should earnestly help these lads like Kalaba to secure good clubs! Its not a question of game time at Zamalek then he can as well feature for ZESCO! We are talking of fame for the player not to be associated with minions instead of big clubs in Europe. I wonder why southern african players find it difficult to break to the elite leagues? Is it because we have no enough “meat”? Certainly, Kalaba is as good as Alex Song especially after mounding his mental strength. He can dribble with accurate searching passes and the tenacity at goal that makes him an all-round player.
With the FAZ AGM coming, I feel the maybe create a deliberate position to look after players advancement particularly people who are “connected” like Ponga Liwewe or our press need to promote our players like other European media (say Rooney, Ronaldo, Kaka publicity). Journalist can make players too unlike focusing on negative side of players! I pray on one day to see a Zambia lad vying in the Premier League!
one can be a begger,,,but if that begger becomes desperate then its not good at all…we seem to be desperate beggers for HR ,,,this guys is not ever qualified to be a national team coach, if we had an experience qualified coach we counld have beaten nigeria in that game,,,his limits showed in that game and the is nothing new that HR has done(brought) to zambian footaball which has never been done before. What am saying is that let the guy go to cameron or anywhere he wishes. HR must go…
chamz dont just pen it down to a “better job”. what we are stressing on here is focus on the current job. If you are told you need five years experience before you can move up a notch in the job market you will focus on achieving the feat of working for five years at what you are doing after that you will perch on a position were you will afford to have a wondering eye and believe it or not you wil not be as focused as when you were building the five years. Same is the case with HR, he was focused due to the fact that he was looking at building a C.V worth any salt, now that in his mind he has achieved this by getting Zambia to the quarters he will have a wondering eye and the focus will not be as much. HR is doing nothing wrong by looking for another job now that he feels he deserves more though he was won nothing, its up to us Zambians to see if a coach who is not focused or as focused as he should be is best for us. There is way too much of a possibilty that this guy will be rushing home to send C.V’s to various teams after training, should we bear the brunt of an unfocused coach is the question. He very obviously tried to get a bigger team and it did not work so he is back and it is obvious his focus will not be the same. Is tis what us zambians want in a coach??? Is tis the sort of coach you want Chamz??
Firstly HR walks out n the boys after the loss to Nigeria, then he does not come back as part of the team for the state lunch. Whats so special about him? his heart is not with Zambia anymore, he has become big headed, so why should we maintain him? Whats going to happen if he is offered a job in the middle of our campaign for afcon 2012? Is he going to stay with us or he will leave like he did twice in 2 days?
HR should leave immediately for the following reasons 1. Zambia is a small team according to him, 2.He wants to coach a top African team.3.Even his record with Zambia is poor in more than 10 caf games he only recorded two wins,not good at all for an ambitious coach.4.his heart is not Zambia to him zambia is a learning place both language and football wise.Zambia needs a coach who ill say he wants to take zambia to the worldcup,win the 2014afcon and transform Zambia into a super African strong football force.Renard can go fulfil his dream somewhere else coz its impossible for him to fullfil it in Zambia
Thats true. Big Steve says, he is building his CV, yes. Whats wrong? What do you mean to fucused on current job? He said coached you to quarters for the first time in 14 years. Does logic not show you that if we persuade him to stay, the current team will do wonders in Gabon?
HR should just leave and he has no respect for the zambian people…let him go.
@chamz
The 2008 Afcon with our local Patrick Phiri we finished our group stages with 4 points but we never qualified to the quarter finals ,this time around Angola 2010 we finished the group stages with 4 points but topped the group.HR hasn’t done anything extra ordinary in 14 yrs.Its just that this tym around luck was on our side.If he jad finnished the group stages by morethan 4 points i would have said yes
Chamz and Bra G are making this about Hr’s aspirations, gents its not about Hr’s aspirations its about whats good for Zambia. HR can send his C.v to Juventus and get a call from Liverpool fine!! what we Zambians should look at is what is good for Zambia. He has big dreams or is achieving his big dreams fine, no argument there, but what good is his line of thought or thinking for Zambia. If his dreams put Zambia in a situation were he could leave at any split second then his vision is not in line with football growth in Zambia. just for a second take your thought off HR and the fact that he is looking at bigger things, take a look at what is the best situation for Zambia. Nobody goes into an interview and says “well I am only looking at working for you until I get a job with your competitor” if you were the interviewer would you employ such a interviewee?? and this is exacty what HR is doing.
What is the latest from football house-media briefing…
We finished the last Afcon with 4 points for sure but remember Egypt had qualified and had nothing to play for in the last game we drew 1-1 with them and don’t forget we lost 5-1 to Cameroon and people were laughing at us that we were playing like Sunday School kids. We got 3 easy points against Sundan who lost all their game. It is wrong to compare our last group in Ghana 2008 with the one we had in Angola.
This group we were in Angola was tougher than last time thats why we had three teams tied on 4 points. The issue is not about points the real matter is qualifying a team to the next round. Would P.P have come out of this group thats the question you need to ask yourself ?
@Sibs
That group was tougher my brother,it even produced two finalists and eventual winners of the cup whilest our 2010 group was completely phased out in the quater finals.Lets not judge teams by the names but they current form.Zambia at 2010 was in winning form and form that could have seen as play in the finals.Since 2006 Zambia has been growing ,maturing and improving and it was just logical for them to qualify to the quarter.Let us stop underrating ourselves.Lets not be like a coach who underates his own team a coach who does not believe in his own team.
@Fifa
I’m not underating the team. Yes in 2008 two teams went to the finals from our group but the other 2 teams in the group did not offer competition to the finalists. All the 4 teams (2010) in our group were on form hence the group was tight. I agree with you that Zambia has been growing in the past years but we still failed to get past the group stage.
The boys worked hard and proved that the were good team plus the Coach must be commended for his selection. Otherwise i’m also for having the team moving forward and getting a notch over this Angola outing.
With HR’s team, 2 Zambians are in the CAF team, which Zambian was in the 2006 team?
@chamz
Chamz I hear you but the truth of the matter is this guy’s public desire of wanting to coach a top african team is iritating to say the least. You asked me if I had never attended an interview with a prospective employer while employed the answer is a big yes but I have done it with respect for my current employers not publicly telling my employers that I need a top class employer. HR did not end at voicing his disire but even said he did not need to come and pick up his bags from Zed but would fly straight from Luanda to Logos, worse still he was not offered a job but stayed on for some dark corner meeting with Nigeria FA officials instead of coming with the team so that he could be welcomed with every one else and have lunch with the head of state. He is a wrong champ, no one is against HR finding better butter with his so called top teams but the insolesce with which he does it sucks in all manner of logic.
We need a dedicated coach not someone who jumps at every oppotunity to advertise himself to other nations. If we stoped player agents from unnecessary inquries on our lads when they were at CAN why should our coach be the one advertising himself at such crucial time when we need his consentration. Zambia is too great for this small mentality coach who overates himself so much. He did not derserve to coach Zambia in the first place I bet even if he left, he can not coach any team better than Zambia. Reaching the last eight at CAN for the first time in 14 years is not too much to sing about just about any coach would have done it with our lads. The guy fails to read games and makes wrong substutes in effect Im just short of saying Zambia would have perfomed better than second round if it were not for HR.
It is not HR to tell us what we need to achieve with him but us to tell him just like you dont tell your employers what your job description should be so the story of saying he promised CAN and second round place which he delivered was not just a mediocre target but HRs own target and not what us Zambians set for him. Like sparks said we should be ashamed cerebrating a second round place at CAN with one victory when we have been to the finals of the Competition.
I wrote this an angry man in the middle of the night after the Togolese national team was banned from the next two Africa Cup of Nations editions (2012 and 2014), and were fined a massive $50 000.
Their fault; their bus was attacked by a terrorist group called Front for the Liberation of the Enclave of Cabinda (FLEC) and their government pulled the team out of the tournament. It was “government interference” that CAF took into consideration when banning Emmanuel Adebayor and company from the next two Afcons.
What kind of leader is this? That you get shot at and you get a ban and a massive fine.
Hayatou’s decisions always baffle the mind. There are exceptions to every rule and Togo is. People’s lives are more important that some rule book gathering dust somewhere.
A few days ago, he said he “did not want the Nations Cup to be played in the same year as the World Cup or the European Championship, but that the event would remain in January”.
The January issue has for some time been affecting lots of African players at European teams.
The fact is these players earn a fortune from these teams. In fact, from what they make from winning an Afcon is what some earn in a week at their European clubs.
Portsmouth coach Avram Grant was quoted saying before the Afcon that: “I don’t know why Fifa allow this. I don’t know why they have the African Cup of Nations in January. We pay a lot of money, especially the big teams, to players who are not with you for two months. I think Fifa need to think about this.”
Hayatou, in turn, says: “We will do things the African way; we won’t be pushed into changing the Afcon dates.”
Good leaders are not arrogant. Take the Togo decision and the Afcon dates issue … is Hayatou a good leader?
Anyway, he is remembered for having fallen asleep during a World Cup match in France 1998, which was picked up by television cameras.
If it is basketball you love Mr Hayatou, it is not too late to change. You are only 63 years old and Fifa President Sepp Blatter is 73, therefore you still have a decade or more to make your mark in Basketball administration.
let HR go.
