Zanaco to face ASEC Mimosa

Mukuka scored Zanaco's first and also provided an assist

Zambian Champions Zanaco thrashed Uganda Revenue Authority by 4 goals to nil to book a date with Ivory Coast glamour side ASEC Mimosa.

Winger Allan Mukuka gave the bankers a lead in the 15th minute by tapping in  Judge M’kandawire cross to the level the aggregate to 1-1. The home side went to the break with a 2-0 scoreline after lanky striker Makundika Sakala scored his first continental goal. Mukuka gave the the assist.

Second half goals from Winstone Kalengo and Sakala made sure Zanaco progressed via a 4-1 aggregate. Next is West African opposition, ASEC Mimosa on March 20 in Lusaka. Read more…

Renard on his way to Gabon???

Renard is in France for a break.

Chipolopolo Boys trainer Herve Renard is believed to be closer to becoming a new coach of Gabon national team.

According to reliable sources in France, the Gabon Football Federation President met Renard in Angola during the African Cup of Nations to try to lure him.

“He has received a lot of offers from Africa. He is studying them but at the moment it is like he is closer to accepting the Gabon offer,” the source revealed to the Zambianfootball.net in an interview.

Renard’s ‘dream of coaching a World Cup bound African country’ has dried up after Nigeria excluded him from their short list while Cameroon will continue with his compatriot Paul Le Guen. That only leaves Senegal and Gabon in the race to snap up the Frenchman whose contract as Chipolopolo trainer is set to expire in May 2010.

“Nigeria and Cameroon are out of the equation. So that leaves Gabon and Senegal. Yes, I have heard about Tanzania but no chance,” the source stressed Read more…

Mbola deal yet to be rubber stamped

International left back Emmanuel Mbola is yet to sign put pen to paper, contrary to UK media reports that English Premier League side Tottenham Spurs has tabled a £1 million to Pyunik Yerevan of Armenia.

According the Zambianfootball.net sources in London,‘it is just paper talk’ although he didn’t rule out the interest from Spurs.

“He hasn’t signed any deal. It is just paper talk,” the source told the Zamfoot Crew in an exclusive interview.

Asked if Mbola will sign for Spurs the source hinted that there’s more work to be done behind the scenes for any deal to be completed, “There are about three English clubs interested in Emma (Mbola). One has already tabled an offer to Pyunik but it’s not Spurs. Read more…
