If you asked any of my friends or acquaintances’ about me the first thing is I am addicted to football, I would like to correct that notion, I just love the game, I appreciate it and well I believe that is where my through passion lies.
The most vivid memory I have down memory lane of Zambian Football would be the 1988 Seoul Olympics where Zambia made history and thumped Italy 4-0 and believe me the Sicilians pulled out their maps trying to figure out where these unknowns hailed from, yes that was the arrival of Kalusha Bwalya on the international scene, his performance at the games for sure led to his one and only African Player of the year award, the only Zambian (from Southern Africa) player to have ever achieved such a feat.

Zambia national soccer team captain Chris ‘Tsunami’ Katongo has urged the Football Association of Zambia, FAZ to maintain the team for the ‘next four or five years.’
And coach Herve Renard remained behind in Angola to watch the semi-final clash between Ghana and Nigeria, a country believed to be courting his services.
The Chipolopolo Boys arrived in Lusaka at mid-day aboard a ZAF plane which was dispatched by H.E President Rupiah Banda except for the Frenchman and striker Collins Mbesuma.
“Very few people come here to white house. We are humbled and I would like to edge FAZ to maintain the team,” Katongo said in a vote of thanks at State House.
FAZ President Kalusha Bwalya thanked the kit sponsors, Nike, Zambian Breweries Group, Toyota Zambia and Konkola Copper Mines for sponsoring the team.

The Chipolopolo Boys are expected to arrive in Lusaka this morning at around 10:00 hours and later in the day will be hosted by H.E President Rupiah Banda at State House.
President Banda dispatched a plane to Angola yesterday after the team had flight problems. The former FAZ Vice President has also directed the Ministry of Sports Minister Kenneth Chipungu to pay the player $6 000 each for their splendid performance in Angola.
His Excellency has also called on soccer fans to go to Lusaka International airport to welcome the boys.
Zambia reached the quarter finals stage for the first time in 14 years under the tutelage eye of Herve Renard.
Meanwhile FAZ President Kalusha Bwalya has hinted that the association will offer the Frenchman an extension to his contract.
