The Carthage Eagles have set base in Dubai

Chipolopolo’s Group D opponents are busy preparing in different parts of the World. West African countries Gabon and Cameroon have set base in South Africa and Kenya respectively while the 2004 Champions, Tunisian national  began its training in Abu Dhabi, as part of its preparations for the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations which will take place from January 10 to 31 in Angola.

Tunisia’s coach, Faouzi Benzarti and his two assistants have focused on the technical and tactical aspect of the team’s training.

Weather conditions are favorable with temperature ranging between 20 and 25 degrees Celsius and a humidity rate of 70%.
No injuries have been reported so far, and the moral is good.

Gabon:

The withdrawal of Stéphane Achy on helath grounds has compelled Gabon coach Alain Giresse to hand a call up to midfielder Arsene Copa, who plays for Hungarian first division side Gyori.

The player, who had attended the last reunion of the Panthers in Libreville joined the rest of the team last Monday at their camping base in Bloemfontein, South Africa, where they have been since last November 30.

The newcomer who completes the 23-man squad of the Gabonese was expected to take part in a friendly against Mozambique on January 6, the last for the Panthers in their buildup to the Orange Africa Cup of Nations, Angola 2010.

“Our preparation is going on steadily. We are here in a geographical condition identical to those of Lubango,”coach Giresse told Gabonese daily L’Union.

The Panthers will launch their campaign against Cameroon on January 13 in Lubango in an early kickoff while Zambia will take Tunisia later on.

Meanwhile the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon have trained twice Wednesday in Nairobi.

I hope the quality of our Nike kit will be gud…With all due respect to Nike, they should start showing some seriousness with our kits-we are practically the only team that gets to market them in Africa, you would think that they would show a little more compassion and seriousness when it comes to equiping our team; I don’t know the details of the contract signed with Nike but if the quality of jerseys persists,i’m better off we agree new terms with Kappa or whoeva as long as we have a kit tobe proud of as a nation…
    Anyhow,thats a topic for another day,for now,all the best boys….Chipolopolo iyee!!!!!

Da indomitable lions look big for sure, however Chipolopol is a team full of suprises, I stand to be corrected if I have mixed up da years, but in 1998 when we were in da same grp as da atlas lions every1 was underating us & eventually we drew with them tho we did not go past the first round….
All am saying is come wat may am supporting the boys all the way coz we are among the best 16 teams in Africa for us to qualify!!!!!!
All the best Zambia come Jan 13 I’ll be clad in my chipolopolo atire………..

  • Kachisa wrote on 7 January, 2010, 16:24

This new Jersey is strange to me. It doesn’t have any of their flag colours really and just seems to be more of a fashion statement than anything else. The team looks pretty tough though, a lot of quality in this Cameroon side. If Gabon can give them a run, then so can we…. preparation, preparation, preparation. Cameroon haven’t had too many friendlies that I have heard anything about, and they won’t be the last team we play…Our approach to the game will definately depend on how we do against Tunisia.

  • chamz wrote on 7 January, 2010, 16:51

Sure our kit leaves much to be desired, the Cameroun kit above even has logo (orange for africa cup) even for training they got new jerseys, our boys only have that salaula blue things with yellow strips. I am sure in Lubango, we will be the team looking ukusapula-ama ophans.

  • Jojo wrote on 7 January, 2010, 16:53

4 players from the current cameroon side were also at the nations cup in mali 2002,thats the consistency that we need from zambian players as well
Infact..of the 16 teams that were at mali 2002,11 of them will be in angola 2010 and out of those 11, ZAMBIA and TUNISIA are the only countries that will not have players that were there in 2002,the reasons for this are a lot but lets just hope the likes ot emmanuel mbola, dennis banda, sunzu, emmanuel mayuka will play the next 5 afcons, already we have the likes of felix, kalaba, jacob etc going back there which means atleast we are trying to be consistent as well…

By the way,i might be wrong, but emmanuel mbola will be the youngest player at the nations cup in angola…

Dream on guys, here are my predictions for the last 8, Angola, Algeria, Cote d’ivoire, Ghana, Egypt, Nigeria, Cameroon and Tunisia. I forsee a Cameroon or Tunisia Vs Cote d’ ivoire Final. teams in zambia’s groups always go all the way

  • jc wrote on 7 January, 2010, 19:14

Against cameroun, there should be a strong defence so as to avoid the leekage we saw in the 2008 AFCON. This means that Hichani and Denis Banda should not play. They former is too slow while the latter is a paper weight and might find it difficulty to contain eto, emana, webo and the likes

  • Richie wrote on 7 January, 2010, 21:35

This time next week we will be aware of what we will reap out of the first and i heartily believe in the team that we have assembled, our first game will say alot about our performance at afcon and we should give it our best shot by using the right formation, using the players in the right positions and maintaining the positivity.Am still hoping that the right central defence partnership will be found pantu stophila makes me uncomfortable in the heart of defence and the midfield needs to be polished.

  • Ignorant wrote on 8 January, 2010, 7:47

There is just too much talk about 4-3-3 and 4-4-2 formations. Can Zamfoot or anybody else help me to differentiate btn 4-3-3 and 4-4-2 formations? Your help is highly appreciated.
