Israel based teenage wonderboy Emmanuel Mayuka scored for Maccabi Tev Aviv as they thrashed Ms Ashdod 5-0 to book a place to the last four of the Toto Cup.
Mayuka who has forced his way into the team’s first eleven after superb perfomence started the match on the bench as the coach had an eye on the weekend’s crucial league game. But with Maccabi just leading by a goal to nir, the coach summoned the former Kabwe Warriors ace with 35 minutes remaining to inspire the Toto cup holders.
The 19 year old scored one and was involved in two other goals as Maccabi booked a place to the semi finals.
Last week, William Njobvu won his first trophy in Israel after helping his club to the second tier version of Toto Cup.
Mayuka has now scored 4 goals in the cup as well as his 4 goals in the league with four assists in total. Both Njobvu and Mayuka are expected to join the Chipolopolo in South Africa this Sunday.

GOOD FOR ZAMBIAN LADS
Kk11 on Thu, 24th Dec 2009 6:02 PM
This kid will end up in Europe proper by summer 2010. Like I have been saying Mbola,Mayuka,William, sakuwaha,Jacob, Banda, nyambe and if Felix, Fwayo and Kalaba can settle down we are going to be feared on the continent. Big teams in Europe monitor the Israeli league, just think that in the 2002 Afcon cup Ivory coast finished last in a group that included Drc Congo, Cameroon, and Tunisia I believe yet today they are Giants on continent and feared in the world. Patience Zambians patience let thongs unfold as they should let Renard do his job.

Good news for Zambian football. Now we can only hope FAZ doesn’t get too excited and screw up the careers of these young lads.

Well done Mayuka. Keep your focus and you will go places
DaMwiinger on Fri, 25th Dec 2009 8:21 PM
FAZ are a bunch of jokers!!! I don’t know what goes into the mind of someone to claim we are playing Spain. Heish!!!!!!!

Merry christmas to all Zambian football fans and to the Team. I will not trust the info from FAZ anymore. If you hear of a friendily game…just go to FIFA and click Zambia on the list of nations and it will show you in black and white what FAZ is up to.

Download and install Addblock plus for Mozilla fire fox if that’s your default web browser, you will have zero pop ups and I think it prevents these viruses from attacking you. You just have to update your filter subscription after installing it. Its a free program that will give you maximum protection from viruses.

I’m reading the Tunisian blog… tunisia DOT worldcupblog DOT org/group-h/faouzi-benzarti-the-peoples-choice.html
It’s interesting, Tunisia replaced recent Brazilian coach Humeberto Coelho with Esperance manager Faouzi Benzarti. The first Tunesian manager Tunesia has had in seven years…
I think what’s good about having foreign coaches is that it makes local coaches compete on an international level and not simply amongst others in the country…

@Seen from afar
humberto coelho is not brazilian his portuguese

Mayuka is a good striker but his not ready for the national team!!!!!!!!! you can’t skip the U-23 and go straight to the national team you need the extra experience
isaac musonda on Sat, 26th Dec 2009 11:39 AM
the one saying mayuka cant be ready because he never playerd at u23 it to right.look at emmanuel mbola, obi mikel nigerian, ezekiel baba nigerian just a few to mention.these levels cant determin the maturity level for a player.
Bolla Pansi on Sat, 26th Dec 2009 11:51 AM
Mayuka is ready for senior team. That is why he is on his second trip to the AFCON.

FAZ splashes K160m bonus
By ROBINSON KUNDA
NATIONAL team players will each earn US$36,000 (about K160 million) if they win all the six games at next month’s Africa Cup of Nations in Angola.
An impeccable source at the Ministry of Sport, Youth and Child Development disclosed in Lusaka yesterday that FAZ has already submitted the budget, which shows that each player will be given a total of US$36,000 in bonuses if they win all the games at the Africa Cup in Angola.
He said players will each receive US$4,000 (about K20 million) for every win in the group stages while a win in the quarter-finals will attract US$6,000 per player.
The source said each player will be paid US$8,000 if they win their semi-final match while the bonus for winning the final match will be US$10,000 per play.
He said Government has not objected to the figures because they are aimed at motivating the players.
“There has not been any objection from Government concerning the proposed national team winning bonuses because as a ministry, we want to motivate the players.
“If you look at these figures, they are quite attractive and they should be able to give extra morale to the players,” he said.
When contacted, FAZ communications officer Erick Mwanza said that the budget has already been drawn but he could not confirm the figures.
Mwanza said the association is happy with the support Government has been rendering to the national team especially in taking care of the team’s expenses.
“As a matter of fact, I can’t tell you the details of the budget at this stage but I can tell you that apart from winning bonuses, players will be entitled to other emoluments such as daily allowances,” Mwanza said.
He said Government has never let down the national team, adding that money to pay the team has always been available.
Meanwhile, Mwanza said it was unfortunate that some people were accusing the national team players of misbehaving and drinking too much when they were on a Christmas break on Thursday.
He said players are also human beings who may want to have fun with their relatives and friends when they are not in camp.
Mwanza said the technical bench gave players a break so that they can see their relatives because they will be away for a long time and there is nothing wrong with them drinking ‘juice or even a beer’ because they are not in camp.
He said players are mature people who know very well the responsibilities they are carrying for the nation.
Mwanza said FAZ cannot allow the players to drink carelessly when there is an important assignment coming up.
“Even you as a journalist, you have a huge responsibility of informing the nation and you can’t write properly when you are drunk but when you are off duty, there is nothing wrong with you taking a beer,” Mwanza said.

The monetary value that has been put on the table for our team is very good and motivating by our standards and i can only hope that the team will respond appropriately.

@ife ndife ba zambia
Yes Eric Mwanza government hasn’t let you down when it comes to payments. Just make sure what is budgeted for the players goes to the players. Stop this ‘nchekelako’ mentality. Additionally, budget to pay the players just for participating in the tournament. Win, lose, or draw its still a job! Of course victories earn you more.
