Dennis Lota- He played his best club football at Orlando Pirates where his prowess in front of the goal and particularly his celebration (rubbing his palms against each other), earned him the nickname “Chesa Mpama” (loosely translated as “hot slap” in Zulu, one of the local languages in South Africa.
He was part of the Zambian African Nations Cup teams in 1996, 1998, 2000 and 2002.
Lota arrived on the scene at the South Africa 96 African Cup of Nations and scored 3 goals at the tourney. Read more…

No Signs at AFCON: FAZ at it again?
Nigerian based Zambia star Signs Chibambo has blamed his non show at the Chipolopolo training camp in South Africa on poor communication from the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ).
Local media have reported that the Heartland striker was allegedly waiting for instructions from FAZ General Secretary George Kasengele from his base in Nigeria before joining the team that is preparing for the African Cup of Nations in Johannesburg.
The player who only last week was voted the best foreign player in the GLO Nigeria top flight has consequently been dropped from the final party of 23 for the showpiece tournament. Read more…

Chansa is ready to return to South Africa
Chipolopolo Boys midfielder Isaac Chansa believes Zambia could be the surprise package at the Angola 2010 African Cup of Nations.
And Chansa has confirmed that he will not be renewing his contract with Swedish side Helsingborg at the end of his current one which ends tomorrow (December 31,2009).
The veteran of three African Cup of Nations finals said, “forget about the under-dog tag. What we need is just unity and the confidence…attack and defend for one another.
“In modern football once you stick to the basics then you have got a chance. Most of the guys in the team have been together from the under-23 level and even under-20…so in terms of knowing each there’s no problem. We just have to be united on the pitch and I can assure you…we will surprise people,” the 25 year old said. Read more…
