The winners tomorrow will pocket ZMK125 million. The Barclays Cup is ZMK25 million richer than the league
Kitwe giants Power Dynamos return to Nkoloma Stadium for another Barclays Cup final, this time as favourites as they look to bag the ZMK125 Million trophy after losing to Zesco United via a Jonas Sakuwaha goal in the 2008 edition.
In this year’s cup final, the 1991 Mandela Cup winners will take on Green Buffaloes. The two teams have already met in the league twice with a goalless stalemate at Woodlands Stadium last month while the Ndeke boys triumphed in the corresponding fixture at Arthur Davies Stadium in Kitwe back on May 30, 2009 by a 1-0 win.
Buffaloes now coached by Alfred Lupiya will be missing two key players in Sebastian Mwansa and emerging Chipolopolo defence kingpin Dennis Banda. In the opposition corner, Fordson Kabole has only striker Luka Lungu missing who is on international duty with the national team in Kenya together with Kennedy Mudenda who is suspended for this encounter.
Kabole who is assisted by Beston ‘Quicksilver’ Chambishi’ will be looking to the exploits of arguably the best attacking midfielder on the local scene, Joseph Sitali to pull the strings in the engine room.
In defence, Laughter Chilembi from the old guard will lead the back line to keep the likes of Linekar Mwikisa, Edward Museba and Reuben Tembo strikeforce.
Arguably Zambia’s best locally based goalkeeper Rabson Mucheleng’anga is confident Power can win in spite of missing Mudenda and Lungu.
”We are prepared, we shall miss Luka upfront, but I am confident we will carry the day. Even if the match was to go to penalties, am sure I would save some,” said the agile shot stopper.
Mesmerising in form winger Simon Bwalya quickly chips in: ”The game will not go the distance. We shall win in regulation time. I am confident of that. I will be able to score in the final,” Bwalya said confidently in an interview with zambianfootball.net last evening at Lusaka Hotel where the Kitwe giants are camped for this encounter.
Buffaloes’ defender Lawrence Phiri will do well to keep an eye on Bwalya and recently recovered Elson M’kandawire who on their day can damage any team.
One of the key battles of the day will be between Nathan Sinkala and Sitali in the middle of the pack.
The league matches involving Power and Buffaloes have been put forward to Wednesday.
Dynamos is expected to face Red Arrows at Nkoloma Stadium while Buffaloes should travel to Maamba to face Choma Eagles in the season ending fixtures.
Allan Mukuka(in the picture) and his Zanaco teammate Charles Siyingwa will fly out on Monday and join the national team in Kenya. Zambia takes on Kenya tomorrow in the opening match of the Cecafa match
Zesco welcome the visit of Aggrey Chiyangi’s Chambishi who are in desperate need of a win to avoid relegation.
The Power Dynamos versus Green Buffaloes game will be live on Supersport Select.
On the international stage, Zambia take on Kenya in the opening game of the Cecafa Senior Challenge tomorrow. Preview to follow later.

Interesting weekend of football but I would realy like to see ZESCO back in continental footbal for continue the momentum, ZANACO has been great but would alot of support to have the confidence to favourbly compite on the continent, support which ZESCO is currently enjoying. Am not writing of the bankers bt merely trying to be rational. Good luck to all the teams + chipolopolo….

This is going to be a great weekend for Zamfoot. The kcm league is coming to the end in grandstyle and i enjoy this kind of situations where the league is won on the last day so all the best to zanaco and zesco. Many people would say zesco will have an easy game but chambishi are playing for survival so zesco have a good fight ahead of them and Warriors on the other hand have been in a yoyo kind of form so i wouldnt know what to expect from them. The barclays cup final cannot pass without comment, congrats to BB for putting in good monies and i know that it will be an exciting final.i always enjoy watching power against GBFC and giving either of them an upper hand is something i wouldnt do easilly but as a person who was born&bred in Ndeke, i have a soft spot for power in this match.Lucky are the guys that have a chance to go to the different venues to watch these great moments.May the best teams win.

MALAWI, Zambia and Mozambique join hosts Angola for the African Cup of Nations (CAN) 2010 next January, as the representatives from the Southern Africa’s COSAFA region.
However, the qualification of COSAFA teams was not satisfactory as all of them settled for third place in order to qualify in the combined FIFA World Cup and Nations Cup qualifiers.
In a sense, if the qualifiers were not combined this year, only Angola would have been the southern African team at the tournament.
Malawi qualified after losing 0-1 in Burkina Faso. But thanks to the Ivorians for beating Guinea 3-nil, Malawi qualified with four points while Guinea finished bottom with three and Burkina Faso 12.
The Flames’ fate largely depended on the proceedings between Ivory Coast and Guinea.
This is the second time the Flames will play at the continental football gala, after a 25 year absence.
They qualified with a paltry record of one win one draw — both achieved at home.
Now, they are in Group A with hosts Angola, on form Mali and Algeria.
Only a juju-man can count on them.
Zambia also qualified with a poor record. They scored two goals in six games during the qualifiers. Chipolopolo was in the same group with defending African champions Egypt, Algeria and Rwanda.
They could not find the net in their last four games of qualifying. Now they are in the 2010 grouping with Cameroon, Tunisia and surprise package Gabon.
Wayward striker Collins Mbesuma has been recalled to try to make up the numbers upfront.
Mozambique perhaps played their best match in the qualifiers beating Tunisia 1-0 and settling for third place in a must-win match for the North Africans who needed a win or at least a draw to qualify for the FIFA World Cup ahead of Nigeria. The Mambas were the best team for southern Africa as they embarrassed Nigeria and Tunisia during the qualifiers.
But it remains to be seen what will happen in Angola now that they have been pitted in the same group again with Nigeria, wounded African champions Egypt and Benin.
Even the hosts, Angola have not been impressing.
Angola has played eight major international friendly matches in preparation for the tournament only winning two where six of those games were played away in Portugal- since their stadiums were under renovations.
Angola secured draws against Senegal, Cape Verde, Cameroon, Congo Brazzaville and two against Ghana, before beating Togo and Malta 2-0 and 2-1 respectively.
With a first glance on Group A putting Angola at par with Frederick Kanoute and Seydou Keita’s Mali as well as Algeria, it remains to be seen whether the hosts can redeem themselves during the tournament to move beyond the group stages.
Southern Africa might not have a team in the Group of Death, Group B where Ivory Coast, Ghana, Togo and minnows Burkina Faso will clash, but the regional teams are surely headed for a crucifixion, if the qualifiers are anything to count on.
Only two teams will proceed to the next round.

Zambia’s opponents at AFCON Tunisia have already lined up and confirmed 2 friendly games. The first one being on 29.12.09 Vs Ivory Coast and the second one on 03.01.10 Vs Angola. Cameroon and Gabon just like Zambia have not lined up any games yet. While I am sure the 2 will soon do that I doubt whether FAZ will arrange anything. Maybe an amateur side in Spain or a fimo fimo selected side the same place. Why do we sleep all the time. Lyonse kamo ati all expenses paid for friendly games. Vama hala vi nata ba FAZ
Look if we have no money then let us just arrange to play Malawi, Mozambique and the DR Congo or South Africa, though I would have preferred some north and West African opponent
Ba ZAMFOOT any news about friendly games before ACON

Mind you FAZ COSAFA and CESAFA or whatever the names are not part of AFCON preparations just incase that is what you are thinking. If there will be no proper friendly games then let us withdraw and stay home instead heading to AFCON with not knowing our actual strength. Twanaka mwe

If I’m honest he didn’t do too well.
When he first came on he was deployed on the left wing, most of the time he played the ball sideways but mostly backwards to the defender. There was one occasion when the ball was played to him and he played an inaccurate ball back. That put the team under pressure as the ball went straight to the opposition. He tried to run at the opposition defence on one occasion but couldn’t beat the defender and the ball ran out of play.
With about 5 mins to play he was switched to attack. Lorient were desperate for a goal so they started to play a lot more direct football. Saku’s height and athletism allowed him to get a good flick on from long ball, but there was no one making a run off him. Undoubtedly his best moment came deep into stoppage time when he managed to get onto a knock down from a free kick. He steadied himself and shot with his right foot from about 6 yards. His shot was destined for the back of the net, but his strike partner stuck a leg out and got a very slight deflection.

ZAMBIA BEAT KENYA 2-0 THE STRIKERS WE HAVE AT THE TOURNAMENT CAN SCORE WHAT ABOUT THE GUYS IN THE MAIN TEAM
Yasmac on Sun, 29th Nov 2009 9:32 AM
Who told you that Zambia was in a goal drought the reason Zambia has not be scoring is ALL the strikers spend 90 min defending instead of scoring because our defenders are whack when we play the big and strong nations. And now that we are playing simple countries we are able to score because our defenders can mange their useless strikers and if you think you will start scoring more goals ohh then think again coz we are heading down
