Not Renard's cup of tea: Mudenda wont face Djibouti like in the last tournament as captured in this picture.
2008 Zambia player of the year Kennedy Mudenda has been dropped from the Chipolopolo squad departing for the CECAFA tournament in Kenya today.
This marks the second time in less than two months that Herve Renard has left out the dribbling Power Dynamos ace after leaving him out of the COSAFA squad last month at the last minute.
And defender Hichani Himoonde who captained the Chipolopolo to COSAFA silver after losing 3-1 in the final to Zimbabwe has also been left out. He has not retrurned from Zimbabwe where he is negotiating a deal with T.P Mazembe.
Others left out include teenage Lusaka Dynamos forward Stanely Nshimbi, Konkola Blades marksman Chipulu Chileya and Zesco United forward Jackson Mwanza.
The final travelling party that include China based James Chamanga and Armenia based teenage sensation Emmaneul Mbola are scheduled to leave Zambia today for the opening match on Saturday against the hosts.
The full team:
Goalkeepers: Joshua Titima (Zanaco), Jacob Banda (Zesco United)
Defenders: Mbola (Pyunik Yerevan), Charles Siyingwa, Thomas Nyirenda (Zanaco), Percy Kisonge (Zamtel), Dennis Banda(GBFC) and Jimmy Chisenga (Red Arrows)
Midfielders: Henry Banda, Allan Mukuka (Zanaco), Kennedy Chola (City Of Lusaka), Sebastien Mwansa (GBFC) , Kebby Hachipuka (Choma Eagles) and Stophilla Sunzu (Afrisport).
Strikers: Chamanga (Dalian Haichang), Luka Lungu (Power Dynamos), Enock Sakala (Zesco United) and Felix Sunzu Jr (Clubless).
In other news, former Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) president Teddy Mulonga is the new Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Sports , Youth and Child Development.
Susan Sikaneta has been dropped while Dr. Christopher Kalila has been moved to another ministry in the same capacity in a mini- cabinet reshuffle by President Rupiah Banda.
And Nkana coach Fewdays Musonda has quit the club after being sidelined recently. Zambia’s most glamour side will get promoted back to the KCM/FAZ Premier League if they win their season ending fixture against Mufulira Blackpool.
Nchanga Rangers have already won promotion from Division One North while for South, Nkwazi and National Assembly have bounced back.

intresting appointment, hope teddy will bring some change to sports and soccer at large after serving in various sports displines for along time.
Spaks on Thu, 26th Nov 2009 8:49 AM
well sad that he has been dropped again, but im happy that he will be part of the Barclays Cup final pa Saturday, interesting Ba Teddy bounces back as PS, i wonder how the relations with FAZ will be, as for HH being dropped frankly speaking i don’t really see the fuss about the guy, i think for him its purely that he has a heart to play nothing special to show especially when under pressure too much to whom it may concern football, he is deadly with the dead ball though, even if he doesn’t go to TP i doubt he will return to ZESCO contribution there in my opinion, very minimal

As for BA fewdays all the best but ka honesty kala fwayika

i just hope Zambia gets no injuries because we will be embarrassed at the tournament

Hichani Himoonde was responsible for Zambias loss in the cosafa final against zimbabwe because of loose marking, he is still not yet mature and he wont be missed.

To bad for kennedy, its nice to see teddy bounce back in a different capacity as policy implementor, maybe faz will work more harder becoz they will have someone whos been in faz push them around. i will be very sad to see him fight faz but help them improve and advise goverment improve on infrustructure of sports.

H.H is a very ordinary player for sure. His got the right body shape but his marking is dismal at times. I can’t see him handling top class players at Afcon.
On Mudenda i can’t comment cos we don’t have the reason for his dropping.
Ba Zamfoot is Stophila playing for Afrisports now or is he is still just under their books?
Spaks on Thu, 26th Nov 2009 9:12 AM
point of correction, Kennedy will not be playing as he is suspended
Big Steve from SA on Thu, 26th Nov 2009 9:18 AM
I dont understand, suspended for the whole tournament?
AMANDO on Thu, 26th Nov 2009 9:25 AM
congrates to ted good news the man has the passion for sport but i hope they bury the hatchet with Kalu and work together he should not use his position to get to kalu.
Sibs on Thu, 26th Nov 2009 9:31 AM
I think Spaks means suspended for the Barclays Cup Final on Saturday not the CECAFA.
Ba Muzo on Thu, 26th Nov 2009 9:40 AM
Yes, Kennedy Mudenda is suspended for the Barclays Cup final. He was red carded in the semi-final 3-0 win over Choma Eagles. The final is live on Supersport kick off 15 00 hrs.

i like HH purely for his heart for the game. he is still young and i think given more years he will be another Litana. With brains at least
Kelvin NAMIYE on Thu, 26th Nov 2009 9:49 AM
He was red carded in the semi final match against Choma Eagles.

I will only be sure of the Squad once they depart for Kenya coz Zanaco have got a must win game on sunday against Kabwe warriors and Power are Playing Buffaloes in the Cup final on saturday, my point I doubt the availability of the Zanaco Players unless otherwise, we might end up going 2the Tournament with 7players and then Use Zambian Locals in Kenya we seen it before….. Nipa zed Pano!

It’s true ba bwana. Zambian people r very funny that’s the reason I have abandoned it coz when Teddy was the Faz president a few years ago people where fighting to kick him
out of office now that your corrupt president has brought him back you congratuate Him that’s the reason Zambia will never move forward we need new minds these guys failed in the past what is he going to offer Zambian now people think please. I bet Kaunda would be voted president the minute he decides to run but any way who cares it’s ZAMBIA

I think HH’s can still turn into a good centerback. He needs time. At his age we can not expect him to perform like Yellow man, Dickson Makwaza, Ackim Musenge etc. One thing for sure is that he will turn into a good defender as he gains experience. Yes he has made mistakes but we all learn from our mistakes.
Better to make a mistake at COSAFA and CECEFA, have it corrected, than making one at AFCON like the last time
I am not saying we should no critisize, we have to cause that is the way forward. I like it when people come with different views, cause that brings progress
Cheers

I thought always that Kennedy Mudenda is one the local players who’re good! It amazes me how HR does his team selection! What strategic planning is CECAFA gonna give in relation to AFCON preparation, team selection? If HR will be bush-fire fighting then I can perfectly say we’re headed for doom at the AFCON! I see this guy taking inexperienced players! For major tournaments like AFCON, u need experience!
On Teddy Mulonga inclusion to sports ministry, I hope he does not form a kangaroo court to crucify FAZ especially that Chipungu is still heading the ministry! Chipungu seemed always to have been double legged on FAZ and does not wish them well from the look of things! Let the stakeholders draw up strategic plans that will propel zambian football esp dwindling school activities, work with FAZ on PSL as soon as possible to create competition and professionalism, mobilise resources for national team to play quality friendlies etc!

This time I beg to differ with you ba Chamz, like the rest of the bloggers have said HH leaves a lot of room for mistakes. If you watch Algeria vs Zambia you will understand where We are coming from. His poor marking reminded me of that 5-1 loss to Cameroon, using him at Afcon will be a big gamble. Now am still trying to figure out if there is really a replacement for Nyambe Mulenga out there, otherwise another 5-1 bashing by Cameroon.
P.s: In the above article, is it me or did they just call someone Fewdays? What a name
Gametime12 on Thu, 26th Nov 2009 2:59 PM
Oh and his bad performance rubbed off on Henry Banda in Algeria. That’s what happens at central defense if one player is out of it then expect the other one to panic. Billy Mwanza was not as bad as Nketeni, He just never had any confidence in his defending partner (Nkentani).
chiti chitundu on Thu, 26th Nov 2009 3:16 PM
well if he has been dropped then its the coaches decision but i just thought i saw him yesterday during the city-zanaco game.i would love some players from the PSL to have played the CECAFA even though its not on the fifa day. we should have started the preps using this tourney… but again i still feel we are relying on luck when we go to the afcon . Even look at the headline which says ZAMBIA MIGHT SNEAK THROUGH THE QUARTERS by davies phiri. i mean thats not the way we should be approachin the tournaments why should we sneak through, chance, rely on flukes etc???
chipolopolo 1 on Thu, 26th Nov 2009 3:29 PM
Zamfoot i hear Zanaco has withdrawn their Player from the National team how from the Kenya trip?any confirmations
Seen from afar on Thu, 26th Nov 2009 4:34 PM
What’s wrong with Mudenda? Can we have some feed back for the guy? At this rate the importance of playing in Kenya is all being chewed away. HR is going to be mad.
Kashman on Thu, 26th Nov 2009 4:39 PM
Chipolopolo 1,check My comment n# 15, i knew this wud happen its jus a matter of confirmation now, Ba zamfoot Pick it up.

Its not only Mudenda who is disappointing from Power Dynamos, but also Elson Mkandawire and Simon Bwalya.Maybe, its time that he moved from Power to go to another club where the Coach will revive him.Im sure the environment is not good enough for these Players.
