Himonde is rumoured to be finalisng a deal in Congo at T.P. Mazembe

Hatrick hero James Chamanga failed to pitch to the Cecafa bound squad’s local training camp in Lusaka and has been ruled out of this tournament leaving the trio of Felix Sunzu Jr, Enoch Sakala and Luka Lungu as coach Herve Renard’s only option upfront.

And in another related news centre-back Hichani Himonde looks set to miss the trip to Nairobi as he is believed to be finalizing his deal with Orange/CAF Champions League winners and Given Singuluma’s T.P Mazembe.

Renard told journalists after the team’s morning work out that he didn’t want to discuss Himonde’s ‘no show up’ thought he knew where he is.

“ I know where he is but ask his club, Lusaka Dynamos for more details,” the Frenchman said.

The Chipolopolo Boys is expected to play a friendly game against the under-20 tomorrow before flying out to Kenya on Thursday. But the Zanaco quintuple of goalkeeper Joshua Titima, Defenders; Charles Siyingwa and Thomas Nyirenda plus the exciting wingers duo of Henry Banda and Allan Mukuka as well as City of Lusaka’s influential winger Kennedy Chola are set to miss the morning practice match as they will be involved in a rescheduled league game at Sunset Stadium in the afternoon.

Zanaco can claim the league title with a game to spare if they win against their arch-rivals ‘City Ya Moto’.

Include Dominic Yobe. This is the best opportunity to try him. We want to see his worth. He is in top form in Finland. Also include Chanda Mwaba. These guys are off season and in the country. Why sideline them?

  • mose wrote on 24 November, 2009, 18:35

Cecafa is only for local players people Abena Dominic Yobe play in Europe he should include another striker from and local team maybe Lwipa and chinyama as the defender

thats why in zed we cant develop bcoz of such retrogressive people.today is a hero, tomorrow is finished.whats wrong with chamanga?

This would have been a good for chamanga to prove that he has become a goal scoring striker, this is no time to be complacent because greater is the challenge that lies ahead of us,i do not know why chamanga wont go but it shows a lack of seriousness on his part and i hope the three goals have not gotten to his head. Can the powers that be get that guy to join the team cos this will help him too. This guy should prove that his hat trick was not a fluke. Its high time that HH moved to another country but i dont know if the DRC is the best option.however he can use it as a stepping stone if he works hard because he has a bright future so i hope he will get into the first team pantu i have heard that kwaliba ama guys aba juju saana ku DRC.I think he could have used the cecafa tourney to stake a claim for his position otherwise all the best to him and zamfoot

JAMES Chamanga has withdrawn from the Chipolopolo team preparing for this weekend’s participation in the Orange 2009 CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup in Kenya.

Chipolopolo coach Herve Renard said in an interview on Tuesday that Chamanga of Dalian Haichang in China will not be part of the team because he was due to return for pre-season training in the first week of December.

“He (Chamanga) won’t be part of the team because he has to go back to China on December 2,” Renard said.

“We can’t stay with him if he will not be available after December 2. So we will only have Emmanuel Mbola as the only foreign-based player in the team.”
This year’s CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup will run from November 28 to December 13.

Meanwhile, Zesco United defender Hichani Himoonde has missed the last two days of training camp in Lusaka.

Renard said he had heard that Himoonde was expected to leave the country for trials in DR Congo at TP Mazembe.

“I am not the owner of the player, call Lusaka Dynamos, they are the owners of the player I am sure they have something,” he said.

Dynamos secretary Madalitso Kamanga, whose club own the player whom they have loaned to Zesco, confirmed that Himoonde was at TP and that he left on Monday.

“He has gone to TP Mazembe, he left in the afternoon to see whether he can sign a contract and I can only confirm after he has signed,” Kamanga said.
However, Zesco United secretary Justin Mumba expressed ignorance over the matter.

“I am not aware, it is better you ask Lusaka Dynamos because he is on loan to us, he is supposed to be in camp, we left him with the national team,” Mumba said.

And Renard has drafted Konkola Blades and ex-Kitwe United midfielder Trinity Chalanshi into the CECAFA team.

Assistant trainer George Lwandamina said in a separate interview that the team was tentatively set to leave for Nairobi tomorrow at 11:00 hours on a Kenya Airways flight from Lusaka International Airport.
Chipolopolo face hosts Kenya in the two sides opening Group A match at Nyayo Stadium in Nairobi this Saturday.

    Mbesuma vows to keep scoring

Moroka Swallows hitman Collins Mbesuma is confident that he can rediscover the goal scoring form that saw him net 33 goals in 27 games for Kaizer Chiefs a few seasons ago.

The 25-year-old netted a brace for the Birds against Golden Arrows at the weekend in their 3-1 win and believes that he is almost back to his best.

He told Football365.co.za: “I’m trying to get back to the form I had when I scored those goals for Chiefs because I have struggled with injuries over the last two years and I need to work extra hard to get back to my best.

“I’m a striker and I need to score goals, so I hope that I can carry on from where I left off against Golden Arrows in the next game.

“I haven’t set myself a goal target for the season, I just want to try and score in every game I play in.

“The coach is encouraging us to work hard here and the more you work hard the more you are going to be in the team.”

The former Portsmouth striker has set his sights on making an impact for Zambia at the African Nations Cup in Angola in January where The Copper Bullets have drawn heavy weights Cameroon, Tunisia and Gabon.

He continued: “It is a tough group we have drawn with some big games against Cameroon and Tunisia, they are some of the top teams in Africa, so we need to challenge them and work hard to beat them and make the most of our opportunity to play in the Africa Cup of Nations.

“I’m confident that I will be part of the squad that goes to Angola because I have been working hard and I have to play as many games for my club and do as well for my club as I can to be there.”

Ba Mose, CHAN is for locally based players and not CECAFA. CECAFA is similar to COSAFA and a team can use any players that are available.

    @Mr Zambia
It is sad that while countries around us are building stadiums and egtting themselves together, we couldn’t even figure out how to get a team to London. Minister Chipungu, Mr Kalusha Bwalya, Ministry of Tourism, and NCSZ are all at fault for not having the foresight. How long have we known that the world cup would be in SA. 2 hrs away from Zambia. Even locals have been saving up money to take trips down to SA, but an entire government cannot get it together. We planned for the eclipse so well, nomba a world cup with the entire world fixed on your region and nothing. Sad, very sad indeed.. Awe for Presdient!!!

    @Mr Zambia
Kabili Efei We think football is just about kicking the ball on the pitch. People were saying that Angola made it to the world cup without quality. Well they must be doing something right, because they will be hosting the Africa Cup of Nations next year. So this to me shows that they probably prepared adequately for the WC qualifiers that year. Efei on the other hand We don’t put in any effort in whatever We do. We just sit back and wait for a miracle to happen. Remember the London debacle? You expect to qualify to the world cup ahead of a team that played against Uruguay for a friendly match. Imwe you used ma overweight students, and don’t be surprised if Ghana turns us down for another friendly match. Why don’t we start by hosting the African Cup of Nations? Why not start there, it is clear that nothing is planned. Zambians want sweet without sweat, I don’t want us to go to the world cup by luck. How are We going to represent Africans at the world cup if we are failing to represent for our own Zambian people at home.

Not Nketani and Billy Mwanza the 5-1 bashing by Cameroon has been haunting me. Yasmac I think its clear that our players all have short careers so I doubt that any of the guys mentioned above are in good form.

    Mr Zambia :
LOOK AT THE FOLLOWING BWANAS!! BOSTWANA HAS DONE SO MUCH BUT LOOK AT US!
“As the excitement grows in South Africa itself ahead of the 2010 World Cup, many other countries in the southern African region have high expectations that they too will benefit from the tournament.
Countries across the region have made huge investments in the hope that large numbers of fans travelling to watch the World Cup will decide to visit them too.
They are also optimistic that they will attract participating teams to prepare in their country before they travel to South Africa for the tournament.
In the capital of Botswana, Gaborone, a new airport is being constructed next to the one being presently used.
Two new football stadiums are being built, and three stadiums are being upgraded.
Lodges have been refurbished in the north of the country, which has some of Africa’s best locations for wildlife viewing,
“This country is hoping to benefit a lot from the World Cup, we are expecting an influx of tourists from England,” sports journalist Tshepo Bogosing told BBC Sport.
“Botswana has been courting the England team for the past few years to come and camp here before the tournament.
“We know that they are now likely to go to Rustenberg [in South Africa], but it’s a 90-minute drive so there’s still a possibility that England supporters will come to Botswana.”
However, England fans are better-known for spending time drinking in bars before a match rather than going on game-viewing trips. Mozambique are hopeful that Portugal and Brazil will be among the teams preparing in their country ahead of the World Cup.
Government is expecting between 20,000 and 30,000 tourists to visit the country, and arrangements are being made for visa regulations to be relaxed.
Pinto Barros, a board member of the Mozambique Football Federation, says that the country considers itself a leading destination for teams and tourists in 2010.
“We are building a new national stadium, we have beautiful beaches, and we are a peaceful country.
“Portugal must come here, they are our brother, and Brazil too. And other countries – why not?”
Other countries with high expectations are Zimbabwe, Zambia, Swaziland and Namibia.
The chief executive of the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority, Karikoga Kaseke admits that it will not be possible to recoup the investment made in infrastructure in the country in the short term.
Rather, the World Cup is the focal point of a major drive to revive tourism in a country that has poor perceptions internationally.
“Our objective is to rebuild the image of this country through 2010, and you can’t put a monetary value on that,” he said.
The 2010 tournament has been touted as Africa’s World Cup, but do the hosts really owe anything to the rest of the region?
The president of the Southern African football body Cosafa, Suketu Patel, says that countries in the region must not be over-optimistic.
“There are opportunities from tourism and teams preparing in the region, but this is not a very long-term thing,” he told BBC Sport.
“I think that the benefit that we can get as a zone is for countries to make themselves known for the potential that they have – either as an investment destination, a tourism destination, or as a sporting destination.”
Teams are likely to decide on their bases ahead of the World Cup in the coming weeks.
That will determine to some extent where their fans will be heading, should they decide to venture beyond South Africa itself,
Then we will have an idea then as to who will be the winners and losers among the countries in southern Africa that are clamouring for benefits from 2010.

Mr Zambia cool down b4 u suffer frm BP these guys are greed whn they c us crushng down heavly thts their happness,i hear tht evn zimbabwe whch was under sanctions is doing better than us,atleast zimbabwe within a shortest time offered a grt surprise to the world by hosting a well organised COSAFA tournament, mean while us we cnt evn help ths Chingangu fight be staged, shame.

James chamanga has been drafted back into the CECAFA squad. According to George Lwandamina, he advised Renard to include him as leaving him out would have meant him losing fitness in the compund. FAZ will make arrangements for him to connect from Kenya to China. His team wanted him to be there for pre-season training by 2nd December.

I think this is a good idea as it adds sharpness to our striking force. I just dont think that Sunzu Jnr, Enock Sakala and company can meet our expectations. I just hope FAZ have spoken to Chamanga’s club about this arrangement as that would be good management practice
