James Chamanga (l) was in devastating form after banging a hatrick
Far East based striker James Chamanga scored a hatrick as he helped the Chipolopolo Boys to a 4-1 win over North Korea in International friendly match played at Lusaka’s Nkoloma Stadium. And late substitute Felix Sunzu Jr put the gloss on the win with a goal deep in stoppage time.
Coach Herve Renard named a strong starting line up which included six professionals led by skipper of the day Kampamba Chintu and midfield dynamo Rainford Kalaba.
Kalaba who is surprisingly still in the country while his club Unaio de Uleiria is involved in a league game in the Portuguese top flight was involved in the opening two goals.
Firstly, his sublime defence splitting pass found Chamanga who unleashed a low drive past the Koreans goalkeeper to slot home his first in the twelfth minute. Three minutes later, it was Kalaba who is being linked to a move to French Ligue 2 side Sedan’s who provided another classical pass to Sebastian Mwansa out wide on the right wing. And Mwansa with his first touch hit a square cross to Chamanga who tapped it home to make it 2-0 and send the sparse home crowd into celebrations.
On the hour mark, Renard made three substitutions. The Frenchman handed a debut to City of Lusaka winger Kennedy Chola who went on for Mwansa while Henry Banda was rested for Kennedy Mudenda. T.P Mazembe’s Given Singuluma made way for Luka Lungu.
In the 72nd minute, Chamanga made history when he joined a unique class of Zambian strikers to have netted a hatrick in the recent Chipolopolo squads after 2006. Collins Mbesuma, Chris Katongo and Singuluma are the other strikers to have netted hatricks in this period.
Immediately after getting his third the 29 year old was substituted and got a standing ovation from the fans. Renard pushed in Sunzu Jr who got Zambia’s fourth in added time.
Korea got a consolation via a penalty spot kick after Kennedy Chola brought a Korea player in the box for Munn In Guk to cooly slot the ball past substitute goalie Jacob Banda who haplessly went in the wrong direction.
Meanwhile Zambia is expected to camp in Spain and South Africa ahead of CAN 2010 opening game against Tunisia in Lubanga.
Zambia: Kalilo Kakonje (Jacob Banda.)- Thoma Nyirenda, Chintu Kampamba, Dennis Banda (Charles . Siyingwa), Emmnauel Mbola- Sebastien Mwansa (Kennedy .Chola), Stophilla Sunzu, Rainford Kalaba, Henry Banda (Kennedy Mudenda)- Given Singuluma (Luka Lungu), James Chamanga (Felix Sunzu Jr)
Unused Subs: Hichani Himonde, Enoch Sakala, Kebby Hachipuka

This is good news after so many disappointing results. Good job Chamanga. I am however concerned with Kalaba’s presence. Ba Zamfoot, could you please update us on his situation? I think coaches should not include players who are AWOL from their teams so as not to encourage such behavior. Of course, I hope that is not the case for Kalaba, for he is and continues to be a bright spot for us.
Congratulations ba Chipolopolo. I hope this is the beginning of a comprehensive preparation program for Angola.

Ok, good that we scored after a long time. Am sure HR is relived..! Bv we have a lot of work if we are to make any gud progres at AFCON. We need to think of winning the AFCON even if our abilities are below par. We should not go to AFCON for apearance only. Lets make a difference we are not write offs. For North Korea well I think they have a lot of work to do. Tough luck..! Lets work hard we know cameron & Tunisia they are at a whole different level, and believe you me its a better level. Renard its not time for experiements but strategies & planning. Bon voyage….

VIVA ZAMBIA. This is very good for us,am so happy and i really think we will begin to get results of this kind from our team.Am even more happy that its a member of the senior national team that scored and am one of those who believes Chamanga is a crucial part of our team and i hope he becomes a starter? Congrats HR and i hope you will give the formular you used today to the senior team? I cant believe some bloggers are questioning the team we played as if its a sin that we have won.
ife ndife ba zambia on Sat, 21st Nov 2009 10:36 PM
hr shouldnt be playing with mbesuma, he needs to encourage the guy, as at now i see mbesuma not psychologically fit,he is always afraid of making mistakes.only if hr can assure mbesuma that mistakes are part of the game, then i think we ll see collins feeling free in the pitch. i have also observed that most of our players are not psychologically prepared, most of the times they seem to be under the influence of fear.hr should prepare them psychologically.not when a player makes a mistake, he is substituted
ife ndife ba zambia on Sat, 21st Nov 2009 10:42 PM
hr should be using wingers.i have observed that he doesnt like that.most of the attacks should be coming from the wingers not from the centre forward.in most cases i see that our left wingers are open, but the middles always give the ball to #9 and #10 (forgotten hw you call them”).

Every game is a stepping stone. Korea DPP is not a small team. Some people on this blog are never realistic with their blogging. Let us build on this and come CECAFA we will be there in the finals. We are opening with Kenya who are another team to beat because they are wounded after losing out to Nigeria in their 1st half lead. Mbesuma is reported to have scored a brace not a hatrick but its good to know that he finally found the net. If we continue with good preparation and HR should feature player in the right positions to secure the needed results. I do not trust Kakonje in goal at all. I wonder why he still considered because he has not been playing for Amazulu in many games. Kalaba is ways a stunner to watch hope he can find in foot in the European stage. Good luck to Zambia in all the coming fixtures both CECAFA and PRE AFCON a well during the AFCON in Angola.
Zambia and Angola are in the same zone. We have more advantage in our group D because we neighbors to Angola and we need not acclimatise like Tunisia will need. We hope take of our geographic position as well our proximity to Angola in order to do well in the competition. GO Zambia… we love you..

I THINK CHAMANGA HAS MADE HIS CASE TO RENARD THAT HE CAN LED THE ZAMBIAN ATTACK AT THE AFCON ITS UP TO THE OTHER STRIKERS TO PROVE THE SCORING ABILITY BEFORE THE AFCON . AM HAPPY FOR COLLINS MBESUMA HE HAS SCORED HIS FIRST GOALS OF THE SEASON AND I STILL THINK RENARD IS NOT TOTALLY IMPRESSED WITH SINGULUMA SINCE THE CHAN BECAUSE HE DOESNT PERFORM IN THE BIG GAMES AND FOR SOME REASON I THINK RENARD FAVOURS THE SUNZU’S BOTH FELIX AND SOPHILLA(SP) BUT THEY HAVEN’T PERFORMED VERY BAD I THINK IF THEY FIND CLUBS THEY ARE A FORCE TO WATCH FOR.

Colleagues, especially those who were at Nkoloma yesterday. My view is that FAZ should investigate those Koreans. They hardly looked like a national team in all respects. Even the worst team in the Zambia Premier League would have whacked them. These are not the sort of games that will help our national team.
Having said that, i have a couple of comments on some players. I think that Chintu is bringing the much needed balance and experience in defence and is playing well. I still have misgivingings about Dennis Banda. I feel the players is a paper weight and weak especially when we meet the powerful west africans. Kamuzati Kabwe is suited to the power play of the west africans and would combine well with Chintu.
Renard should examine whether Henry Banda is really making positive contrbution to the team. This boy seems to be static.
Kalaba has some work to do if he is to count as one of Zambia’s great. One tends to feel he has reached his peak and cannot improve further. For the time he has spent in Europe, he should be showing that he is the man. There is an element of casualness.

There are people who are saying that, ZAMBIA beaten A ‘N/Korean college side.
But from the report in N/Korean NEWSPAPERS, the KOREAN SQUAD was only missing three (3) key players and one of the players is a GOALKEEPER.
Some people in ZAMBIA even if the CHIPOLOPOLO Wins the WORLD CUP today they’ll still be Negative about something, like that goal KALABA score in the final against ENGLAND should have been a header not a bicycle kick or KATONGA should have not celebrated the fouth good because England was using FOSTER has Goalkeeper.
So of you we know you that that you’ll always be Negative bacause of your ‘Natural Nagative Mentallity’.

The game yesterday was interesting.Despite the score line Korea had a good game .I liked their display but Kalaba,Stophila and Henry Banda where too good.HR yersterday used our traditional 4-4-2.Atleast after a long time we saw Zambian football yesterday.HR should also look at working on F Sunzu. With all things being equal Felix can be the next target man for Zambia. We have always preached on the importance of experience on this blog with Big Steve and other guys here and I think Chamz and group should comment on the calmness Chintu Kampamba’s experience has brought to the team.James Chamanga was played in a correct possition and the result was a hat trick. If HR plays players in their right positions and deploy our traditional 4-4-2 with direct attacking wingers like Sakuhawa and Clifford Mulenga,we wont be a push over at the AFCON

Dinamo i said after Cosafa that Felix Sunzu is a good striker. When he’s fully fit the boy can do some damage. I was surprised that HR played him as a substitute in most games. The next team HR names you will find his not even in the team. These are some areas where HR amazes me with his team selection.
Though congrats to the boys for wining. If they had lost some people would have being saying worse things. The team won still some people come up with issues. One thing i have come to learn is some people are ever negative. Why would the N.Koreans come wth a B- Team to prepare for World Cup. They just got beat chapwa!

Please investigate further all you journalists out there!!!
Dinamo, it’s interesting what you say about F Sunzu, if you look at what HR did with Kebby, Mbola and to an extent other players it’s possible to encourage players to raise their game to a higher level. They just need set targets to hit and some attention and then they can go for it. Otherwise players can lose focus on reaching higher.

Sibbs:North Korea sent their reserve team to Zambia.Don’t be excited with the win.The North Koreans just wanted to have feel of African football.Just read the article below from China News Agency.
Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) national soccer coach Kim Jong Hun has said the international friendly match against Zambia this Saturday would accord his team an opportunity to have a feel of African football, the Times of Zambia reported on Friday.
“DPRK has qualified for the 2010 World Cup to be hosted by South Africa and is using the friendly against Zambia as part of the move to acclimatize to the African environment.
The coach said in Lusaka on Thursday that Zambian football was highly rated on the African continent, hence the decision to choose the country for the friendly match.
He said his team preferred to play Zambia because of the geographical proximity with South Africa, adding the game would help his team prepare for the World Cup.
The team arrived on Wednesday night and the coach said the game with Zambia marks the end of his country’s international friendly this year.
“It is better to have friendly games with countries in Africa since the World Cup will be in Africa and we picked Zambia to play with because it is near South Africa where the World Cup will take place,” Hun was quoted as saying by the newspaper.
The coach however said they were no star players in his squad to play Zambia at the Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka.
Zambia is using the game as part of its preparatory for the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations in Angola.

The truth is that we beat North Korea just like Zimbabwe lifted the cup after we used amapulanga Kebby, Enock and Sunzu Jr (he’s not one i would get excited about as he’s not been improving the past 4 or so years i have been watching him). Like i said last week, the fact that our players are small is the reason we should have skill (Kalaba, Mudenda, Henry Banda, Felix, Clifford) like Barca do than have amapulanga (Enock, Sunzu Jr etc) that lack sense and don’t instill an iota of fear in defenders even just from their body language. We need a striker like Patrick “Lua Lua” Kabamba who from just the way he touches the ball, defenders kulwala namumala!!!
