Kalu must take responsibility
The Post reporter Augustine Mukoka gives his opinion on Zambia’s 1-0 defeat to Egypt in his column; Full Time
“In fact, this is one of the worst qualifying series the team is experiencing. Even when Chipolopolo missed the 2004 edition, with limited financial muscle, Zambia never lost two matches at home.
That’s why I believe Kalusha, as leader of FAZ, should seriously reflect on his poor performance.
He came into office on the pretext of reviving Zambian football, attracting massive sponsorship to the game, strengthening the FAZ secretariat and building strong youth structures.”
Zesco to send two scouts for striker hunt
A two-member Zesco United technical committee team begins its player scouting mission at the Cosafa Senior Challenge Cup in Zimbabwe this week.
Club secretary Justin Mumba said the team will comprise Zesco executive committee member and ex-Under-17 team manager Hastings Ndovi and assistant coach and former Nkana goalkeeper Emmanuel Mschili.
Zesco are scouting for foreign strikers for next years prospective continental club campaign.
Zesco keen to reclaim league title
Reigning League Champions Zesco United club secretary Justin Mumba has said the team is determined to reclaim the title.
The Fighton Simukonda-coached side moved to 54 points, three better than second placed Zanaco.
“For us, the league is still on. We can’t sit and start celebrating; there are still about five games more. We have to work hard and consolidate the lead,” he said
Spar commits K225m to schools football
SPAR Zambia has committed K225 million to the promotion of schools soccer in Lusaka and Southern provinces.
Spar general manager Nicholas Best said this in Choma on Saturday during the schools tournament that his company and Alive and Kicking Zambia sponsored at Choma Secondary School.
NSCZ attributes London fiasco to lack of teamwork at FAZ
THE National Sports Council of Zambia (NSCZ) has cited the lack of teamwork at the Football Association of Zambia secretariat in the August 12 London fiasco.
And the committee has dismissed FAZ general secretary George Kasengele’s submission that Chipolopolo coach Herve Renard released the team list for the international friendly against Ghana on August 5, seven days before the match.
Chipolopolo resume Cosafa Preps
THE Zambia soccer team yesterday regrouped at the FAZ technical centre in Lusaka to finalise preparations for the COSAFA Senior Challenge Championship currently taking place in Zimbabwe.
The local guns depart for Zimbabwe this Friday and will face Namibia on Sunday. (Various)
FAZ bans Roan from using Kafubu Stadium
The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) disciplinary committee has banned Super Division side Roan United from using Kafubu Stadium until the end of the season.
The ban follows the incident that led to the abandonment of a Week 23 match between hosts Roan and Zanaco in Luanshya last month
Anynews on Div. 1 football? Has Nkana continued with it superb run?
Zega. Indeed Team Ya Ziko. Red Arrows here we come
@Jojo, Nkana gazumped!!!! This can’t be true!
Jojo thats how it looks,i was at musa kasonka yesterday and saw the worst form of refereeing, i also witnessed unsportman behaviour from Kalewa officals shame on you, they were physical against players,Kalewa fans were as bad as their officials and the sad thing is someone wil say its nkana supporters
ZESCO should just buy players from local clubs unlike foreign countries. Remember the Liberians who failed. Scout from our own premier league and division 1. we should form a strong team for CAF champions league i think
I have just been thinking about our stadium for international assignment. It seems our Ndola stadium will not be ready by the time we start qualifies for 2012 Africa cup in that the games will have to start in the year 2011.I suggese e following options:
(i) Remove the artificial turf from independence stadium and fix it at Konkola stadium.Currently the tirf is being under utilisesd.
(ii) Buy a new artficial turf and fix it and Konkola stadium.Government can laise with KCM on how they can share the cost of fixing the turf.
(iii) By natural grass from South Africa and have it planted at Konkola Stadium.Thats how Chelsea fixed their once bad pitch.A field can also be identfied where this grass will be planted and will be used to replace those parts of the pitch were grass has been damaged.
I have raised this issue in that the state of our pitch has greatly contributed to our teams performance at home.Remember Zambian football has always been played on the ground. So a bad pitch will always work against us whether playing home or away.
Zesco should continue loaning national team players not foreigners because we still have untapped talent in Zambia.
ZESCO Scouting for foreign player is retrogressive. Our national team performance is dependant on good players from our clubs. Getting players from other nations though helpd your club but it does not help our national team. Think twice, you will be contributing to the downfall of our national team. You have proved to produce good players and now you want to spoil that.
The notion that ‘good is only from outside’ is wrong. You can produce the best yourselves and export.
Invite me in one of your meetings so that I share my experience with such notions. Other countries value their own but Zambian do not value their own people. Look at the coaching jobs, when it is a Zambia the pay is very poor (though they sometimes deliver) bu for a foreign coach its very high and they fail to deliver. Buga buga chisense was one example.
We have a good scorer at Zanaco but we can use him because he is from Congo. Zesco, do not annoy me, change your thinking for the sack of Zambia.
How i wished the U-20’s were the ones to represent us in Cosafa. Even if they not going to win the tournament it’s good for developing the young Stars.
We need to start looking to the future now. Angola have been sending their Under 20’s for the past 2 years. South Africa have had a developmental team participating.
satana fired.8 games no win and they slipped down the fifa ranks.we have the same problem,we play with flarejust as south africa but we cant score.something needs to be done.
@Georgia Russia
Zimbabwe is in the same boat……I think its also time for us to give Algeria the respect they deserve. We have continuously underestimated them, when they have been climbing up the fifa rankings. Right now they have recorded their highest Fifa rankings (29), our focus was on Egypt as if they were in top form. Algeria has been missing in action according to some of their fans they had problems that needed some attention. Maybe We should learn from Algeria, and just start from scratch rather than refuse to accept the truth.
I challenge a Chipolopolo fan to come up with a better one than (this tragicomedy) below. This is from a Bafana website..
discourse between a judge and an adolescent…vis -a-vis a custody battle
Judge to Child: do you want to live with your mother?
Child : No!
judge: Why?
Child: she beats me.
Judge: okay, so you want to live with your dad?
Child: No!
Judge: why not?
child : he beats me too
Judge: so who do you want to live with?
Child: Bafana Bafana!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Judge: Why Child?
child: They never beat anyone!
might i add….the child says…i do and get away with everything when I am at chipolopolo’s and bafana bafana’s.
Ba Game 12
Good point on starting from scratch but only if we stop lauding players past their own best as stabilising a team that has lost. How can there be stability in a loss. Naifwe fwema soccer fans tuchinje promoting indespensability.
Augustine Mukoka has raised pertinent issues that I am surprised none of us is commenting on e.g. Having only the Barclays Cup with BP silently pulling out and ZB only footing coach’s emoluments (if I am not mistaken). Guys I am worried about the game honestly. Personally I will take it up with FAZ on how we can help from our armchairs-let’s take the NAPSA declaration(Thumbs up Ba Muzo and Fred)
Good Result for Nkana still in contention will bounce back.
Too many football politics and i think that is the main problem in zambian football politizing each other, when you see the problems nkana are having, they are just too many but with the zeal of the players they are playing their lungs out just have a point, but the excutive they always let them down ,coz how can be getting their salaries 2 weeks after monthend? any way ni kalampa for life ,despite all these hurdles we are bouncing back.
Rightly said my Man,an Inter-Provincial league will be a revelation to this nation.Remember that Mbola and Nyambe are from Rural Zambia,Im sure we can have wonderful things here.
I think Zesco are only following what is globally happening in football in order to remain competitive. Football is global and talent identification is following on such a scale. You can buy a player from anywhere if you can afford him. This brings in competition and helps you check the standards that you should be at in order to compete globally ie it provides a benchmark. Look at all the teams doing well even in the African Champions league – they have bought foreign players to compete with their own. This stimulates development. TP Mazembe have our own Given and they are in the finals, Heartland have our own Signs Chibambo and they are also in the finals. El Merreikh have had our Zacharia Simukonda, Elijah Tana etc. If you look at the Arabs, you cant even count the foreign players. Unfortunately, that is the way to go if you want to compete against the likes of such teams. Good initiative by ZEGA – They keep on breaking new ground, are innovative and futuristic in their planning.
Santana failed guys
he didn’t have strategy
eish whos using by blog name.
Bravo, ZESCO, go ahead and scout for real talent who can help the club progress in next years champions league qualifiers. Buying quality foreign players is now a trend the world over. Personally i dont see the talent that people keep talking about here in Zambia. I watch local league soccer week in week out. So ZESCO are right to look elsewhere.
