Zanaco’s winless streak was this afternoon extended to five matches after cross town neigbours Red Arrows held them to a 0-0 draw at home in front of the watching Zambia coach Herve Renard.
The league leaders’ loss was second placed Zesco United’s gain after the champions beat Green Buffaloes 1-0 with Lottie Phiri scoring at Trade Fair Ground in Ndola to narrow the gap between them to two points.
Third placed Power Dynamos continued with their impressive run under Fordson Kabole with a hard fought 1-0 Luka Lungu strike win over sister club Lusaka Dynamos at Nkana Stadium in Kitwe to move to 42 points now just six points behind the bankers .
Zanaco missing the services of the fiery Patrick Kabamba who is reportedly injured but featuring a host of players called up for the Zambia COSAFA Senior Challenge squad in Henry Banda, Ignitius Lwipa, goalkeeper Joshua Titima, Mwelwa Sakala and Allan Mukuka failed to live up to the expectation of a side boosting of such talent as they were stretched by a workman like Red Arrows side that is slowly regaining its composure. But for Arrows’ lethargic finishing, the result could have been worse for Zanaco for whom Mukuka and Sakala were withdrawn in the second stanza by Wedson Nyirenda for former City of Lusaka’s Evans Musonda and Michael Bwalya without really changing the complexion of the game.
Even the introduction of the talismanic Jack Chileshe late in the second half for Sydney Kaluwe could not yield a win for Zanaco who have now gone five games in a row without a win barring the abandoned game against Roan which was also 0-0 at the time it was stopped due to crowd trouble in the second half at Kafubu Stadium in Luanshya last weekend.
Makundika Sakala and Lwipa starting as twin strikers ahead of former South Africa domiciled Davies Mwape were heavily policed by Arrows impressive central defensive partnership of former Malaysia based Kamuzati Kabwe and Slyvester Bwalya.
The COSAFA squad members withdrawn moved to three late in the match as Arrows teenage defender Jimmy Chisenga was rested by coach Matthews Phiri for Goodson Kachinga a move which must have left Renard scratching his head as his Zimbabwe bound choices failed to make an influence on the game.
Even his latest call up Jimmy Ndhlovu enjoying a rare start at Arrows had a relatively quiet game as he had to contend with the hard tackling Eugene Shamakamba and captain Charles Siyingwa leaving the likes of Lawrence Pondani and Danny Sibande to shine in midfield.
Other results:
Kabwe Warriors 3 Choma Eagles 2
Chambishi 3 Forest 0
Young Arrows 1 Zamtel 1

Power really seems to riding on cloud nine, good for them,i hope they can end their league drought, playing without winning the league 4 almost a decade is not a joke.
Ba Zanaco on the other hand seems like they have lost their campus, all of a sudden playing 5 games without a win is very bad & even before P.Kabamba has shown us that as much as he is capable of scoring,he is equally capable of the opposite.
Ba GBFC bena tatulandako, they seem to have majored on being the 2nd best, whats wrong with them?
The league is getting interesting, may the best team win the league.
HOW DID THE COME TOGETHER GO FOR THOSE THAT WENT?I MEAN,WHAT WAS DISCUSSED?DID YOU MAKE ANY RESOLUTIONS & FINALLY WHATS THE WAY FORWARD FOR ZED SOCCER? Please share with us.

Mudala Kasama Boy ulishimbi. Yes I remember the UCAR advert.
I never watched ZOOM, but for sure those that watched him contend that he was the best dribbler ever.In my leats of dribblers Alex Chola would. E first followed by Biggie (Gibbie not original) Mbasela “Mupike”.
As for Malaza I guess it has to do with having the penchant of scoring towarsds the end i.e.Malaza is coloquial form of kuma last

Malaiti Rangers was a Zesco sponsored team based in Lusaka. Keegan Mumba played for this club. Whitespoon was a club based in Ndola and was sponsored by the Zambia Sugar Company as far as I can remember
As for ba Zoom it is as explained but to give you more, please read below
Ndhlovu was born in Mufulira in 1937 and played his club football solely for his local team Mufulira Wanderers[1]. He was unfortunate enough to experience segregation in colonial era Northern Rhodesia where two leagues ran side by side – one for whites and the other for Africans – making many appearances for the national team and also featuring for the mixed team after Northern Rhodesia got its independence and became Zambia in October 1964. With Ndhlovu as captain, Wanderers won the Zambian league and more cup finals than any other team and earned the tag ‘legendary cup fighters’[2][3]. His skill on the ball, close control and deadly shooting were a marvel to witness and he earned himself the nickname ‘Zoom’ because of the way he would meander past defenders[2]. It then became common for people to refer to him as Samuel ‘Zoom’ Ndhlovu or even Zoom Ndhlovu rather than Samuel Ndhlovu.
In 1964, Ndhlovu became the first footballer to win the Zambian Sportsman of the Year award. In the mid-sixties, Northern Rhodesia (Zambia) & Southern Rhodesia (Zimbabwe) teams would compete for the annual Super Castle Cup which saw the Castle cup champions of each country battling it out for the trophy. In 1965, it was decided that the winners of the trophy, which had previously been dominated by Zimbabwean clubs would keep the trophy for good. Wanderers had won the local Castle Cup and therefore the right to compete in the final against Salisbury Wanderers. Ndhlovu and teammates such as Willie Kunda, Joseph Menzu, Elijah Mwale and goalkeeper Tolomeo Mwansa outclassed Salisbury Wanderers at Salisbury’s Glamis Stadium in October 1965 to win the trophy 4-3 and become permanent holders of the trophy with Ndhlovu scoring one of the goals[3].
In 1966, a benefit match was organised for Ndhlovu in appreciation of his ten years in football when Wanderers played Kitwe Sports at their home ground Shinde Stadium[3] Ndhlovu had a chance to play professional football in the mid-sixties after the then Wanderers and part-time Zambia coach Doug Sammons arranged a stint with a British club for him but he turned down the opportunity to concentrate on developing the game in Zambia[3]. As a consequence, Zambia’s first professionals were Fred Mwila and Emment Kapengwe.

It is evident that Zanaco’s scoring revolves around Patrick Kabamba. When injured or out of form, the team struggles badly. I watched them yesterday, and my impression is that they are far from a Champion league material. What made me even more concerned is the fact that the COSAFA call ups put up average performances.
Red Arrows looked a much more polished side, but for poor finishing. They however have an excellent midfielder in Dan Sibanda, who no doubt is a national team material. The COSAFA should be the start for him and see how he plays. Otherwise, he is miles ahead of most of the COSAFA call ups. His stregnth is in intelligence and ball skill.
Colleagues, the lack of strikers or is it the poor shooting at goal should be treated as a “national emergency”.

Yes Cyborg was Maybin Chisanga now deceased who palyed for Power from Warriors. If I am not mistaken he may have played for Buffaloes as well. Name came from film Cyborg because of Maybin big build.
Ba Justice, spot on I used to watch Whitespoon Sugar at Chifubu ground in Ndola featuring Harrison Simwala, James Kalala, Little Joe etc. They were coached by Dave Kayumba the man behind the making of ZANACO.
George Mungwa trained Malaiti featuring the likes of Nelson”Sharp” Sakala, Chris “Gazza” Tembo, Langson “Forces” Phiri etc were a marvel to watch. God help us those were days. And yes we will revive the days starting with guys on this blog.

In the game bewteen power and lsk dynamos I noticed that either power underrated elite or they were tired from the previous game against Zega. Power just cud not replicate then foam they showed in the previous game. They were lucky to come out winners on the day.
The only positive in that match was the power captain Sitali; watch the pace of that boy, he could be the next Kalaba on the zambian game. His ccomposure, vision, skill, strength and distribution was excellent. I was lleft wondering why he is not in the COSAFA squad.
Guys I now understand why Sashi is back in Zambia; the guy has lost his form. Chipeta showed that there is still some football remaining in his legs, more especially his brains.
Overrally a below par performance by both team, not befiting of the premier league.

too bad kalampa lost but we are still in contetion for promotion. injuries have really killed zanaco rythm, lwipa thou he is back he is still limping but kalengo, benard bwalya and now kabamba are still out and this is their first choice front line. as for power winning the league i doubt, knowing zambian clubs no conistency they will soon start losing. i remember last year they were alsmot headed for 2nd position only to lose to red arrows 3 – 0 in the week 30 match and that was it.
