Power ‘burn’ Zesco

October 1, 2009

jacob-banda-potrait
A vintage four star Power Dynamos yesterday ended Zesco United’s unbeaten run in the league with a 4-1 drubbing in a rescheduled KCM/FAZ league game played at Nkana Stadium in Kitwe. (jacob Banda allowed four goals)

The 1991 Mandela Cup winners were in sparkling form going into the break 3-0 up with goals from Luka Lungu in the ninth minute, and a captain Joseph Sitali’s brace.

In Zesco’s worst defeat since retuning to the top flight, international defender Hichani Himoonde and Kondwani Mtonga paid the price for their slowish display and were substituted by Kabamba Chalwe and Matthews Chikwete in the opening half as they failed to contain the exciting Kitwe giants quartet of Kennedy Mudenda, Sitali, Lungu and Simon Bwalya.

Power’s impressive  agile young keeper Rabso Mucheleng’anga saved a penalty from Maybin Mwaba after referee FIFA referee Wellingtone Kaoma awarded a penalty after veteran defender Laughter Chilembe handled in the box.

Mudenda got Power’s fouth goal.

Mwaba was given a chance to atone for his sins in the 73rd minute from another spot kick  when Perry Mubanga was penalised. This time he held his nerve and sent Mucheleng’anga the wrong way.

Power remain in third position but the win must have come as a relief to the Ndeke faithful as the Arthur Davies Stadium outfit had an indifferent earlier part of the season under the woeful Egyptian Mohammed Fathy who was replaced by veteran coach Fordson Kabole and former Mochudi Center Chiefs of Botswana trainer Bestone ”Quicksilver” Chambeshi who have seen the side score seven goals in two games.

This win puts Power in contention for a top two finish in the run in.

    It’s indeed a wonderful moment for Power Dynamos Football Club who are among the Four best Teams in Zambia in terms of achievements. The contention for the premier league second spot is still wide open for both Power 90, GBFC & ZESCO UNITED.Upon commencing the league on a sound note Power’s sluggish cost them a lot under the tutelage of M.Fathy the Egyptian. Now things are happening with local coaches. Bravo Ba Kabole, Chambeshi, J.Mwewa & J.Mukonje. Go DYNAMO Kale mwa te yapo Continental Football. Power 4 Life

    Im happy for Power,this game exposed Zesco’s weakness after the disappointing performance in the Champions League.HH is slow and should improve otherwise,he shall never taste Professional Football abroad.The Frontline is also a concern,I think the coach should beef up the squard in the upcoming Transfer window,Zambia will have Two representatives in the CAF Champions League and One in the Confederations Cup.So,for 3 Representatives Possible Candidates will be;Zanaco,Zesco and Power,they need to pull up their socks.

    I like the competition.At least our league is getting ripe.no one is an unerdog & every team fears the other.Thats the spirit we need if we are to qualify for World cup 2014.Teams have to learn the imporatance of hard work & consistency.Competition must start from the locals,then continental,then World….isnt it?Gud luck Power.

    God show Ba Power, but my assertion still stands that Power will always have mixed seasons!!!!

    Mwebantu Ba Frederick Kashimoto was hit by a carelessly driven taxi and is recuperating in Kitwe Central Hospital.

    @Uncle Bobs
    to bad for the big man,ba Faz Ba kashimoto is a very big man who has dedicated himself to Zambian football and has coached at almost all the levels.Formulate a good plan to look onto there plighty. these are the people who should be in charge of youth football and searching for young upcoming stars.
    The tendernce nt to take care of our own local coaches is very bad,this goes to the clubs as well but the initiator or example should be Ba Faz.The badness is because mwali intemwa,be fair and patriotic.
    The money that the corporate world has given to the chipoloplo is awesome start to ma small youth programs incorporate local coaches,send them for training its simple learn to priotise.when they start suffering we are the same peolpe who laugh at them,its BAD have a heart and invest in your own! STAND UP ZAMBIA

    My Power friend was so excited about this result and heaped the praise on Kabole.
    Kachepa is that Fathy has resurfaced in Zimbambwe.
    Zamfoot, how old is Muchelenganga? Isnt he the goalkeeper who was in Peter Kaumba’s U23 team?
    Congrats ba Power.

    @The Doctor
    Concur with you 100%,we seem nt to appreciate each others expertise.Coaches do a great deal of job.The players cant be popular if he doesnt make a good combination.Some players are spotted from damn low class football levels-the shanty compounds & the rural areas,they are polished and most of the times exported by the clubs for big money.Lets learn to appreciate the work of local coaches.If we dont appreciate them,our Soccer league will never develop.They will be running away like our excellent Patrick Phiri(Simba FC-Tanzanian Champions),the Late Ben Bamfuchile(MHSoul Rest in Eternal Peace),etc.Lets learn from the Egyptian League:Do you know why all the Natinal Team Players coming to face Zambia on 10th are from the local league?Its because they have good coaches in their local league who groom good players of world class.Therefore,you dont need to send players to Europe if u have good coaches who will groom good players and in turn create a competitively good socer league.
