Kachepa: Power sack Fathy as Danny Kabwe takes over
Zambianfootball.net can exclusively confirm that Kitwe giants Power Dynamos have parted company with Egyptian born coach Mohammad Fathy. According to highly placed sources in both Lusaka and Kitwe, the 'Dinamo' hiearrachy have hired former Zanaco coach Danny Kabwe as head coach. Fathy who joined the Ndeke boys at the start of this season's campaign has been under fire from the die hard fans after a string of poor results. In his 16 games in-charge of the 1991 CAF/Mandela Cup winners, Fathy only managed to steer the club to five victories, seven draws and 4 losses including a 3-0 bashing by Zanaco in what proved to be his last game at the helm. Players Abroad: A new season has begun

Germany The competitive season got underway this week in Germany with the first round of the DFB Pokal (German FA Cup). Newly relegated 2. Bundesliga Arminia Bielefeld were drawn in the first round against 3. Liga side SpVgg Unterhaching, and successfully opened the season in the outskirts of Munich with a 3-0 victory. It was just past the halfhour mark when Bielefeld took the lead, and right on the stroke of half-time, they doubled their advantage through Chris "Tsunami" Katongo. Full story

Zesco suffer setback

**Chris 'Tsunami' Katongo scored in the 45th minute for Arminia Bielefeld in a first round German Cup game. The goal in the 45th minute gave Bielefeld a 2-0 lead over SpvGG Unterhaching, as they progressed to the next round. Full Players Abroad review next week.** ---- Zesco United last night suffered a set back in their quest for a spot in the semi-finals of the lucrative Orange CAF Champions League when they succumbed 1-0 to Al-Hilal of Sudan in the second game of the league series played in sweltering heat at the packed 42 000 plus Omdurman Stadium in Khartoum. A 9th minute goal by Osman Altaewon that came off a controversial corner was all the Sudanese giants needed to mount the summit of Group A as Zesco clearly were left to rue some shocking refereeing calls by Benin's Koffie Codja and their own lethargic finishing. Missing the services of the suspended Enock Sakala, Zesco posed little attacking threat in the opening exchanges with the Sudanese knitting passes easily. But as the half wore on, 'Team ya Ziko' gained momentum and were able stretch play with Kondwani Mtonga, Matthews Chikwete and Lorient bound Jonas Sakuwaha impressing but with little penetrative ability.
