In one of the longest transfer moves, Sakuwaha put pen to paper on Friday night after agreeing personal terms and his contract papers were couriered to Paris by one of the members in the first batch of the Chipolopolo Boys (Herve Renard, Patrice Beamulle plus six players) that left on a 13:00 hour’s flight. His agent will be on hand to receive the papers at the Airport in Paris and then submit them to the French Football Federation (FFF) subject to an International Transfer Certificate (ITC) from FAZ to beat the mid-night transfer window deadline.
Sakuwaha who’s every touch in Sunday’s Orange/CAF Champions League goalless draw against El Merriekh was greeted by cheers from the home crowd will leave for France today together with Hichani Himonde and Given Singuluma who arrived in the country on Sunday after scoring for T.P Mazembe in their 2-0 away win over Monomutapa. By the time the 26 year old arrives, his deal could have rubber stamped and will be confirmed later after passing a medical.
The former Zamtel fc player will be the only Zambian player playing in France this season. The trio of Jacob Mulenga, Felix Katongo and Stoppila Sunzu who feateured for Ligue 2 side Berrichonne Chateauroux have all moved elsewhere with Mulenga now plying his trade in the Dutch Eredise with FC Utrecht while Katongo is back in South Africa and Sunzu is still unattached.
Kola is in Zambia
Striker Rodgers Kola has been spotted in Lusaka with Kachepa filtering that the young starlet is no longer on the books of South African side Golden Arrows were he extended his loan deal for a season from Swedish side Helsingborg IF who have his economical rights for the next 2 years.
Kola Controversy
Upon hearing that the 19 year old is in the country, Herve Renard is believed to have asked staff at the Football House to be included on the squad to camp in France and that raised a lot of eyebrows from the football mother body hierarchy whether the teen striker deserved a place on the flight to France or not. Some even suggested that Collins Mbesuma is worth a call up because he has been featuring regularly at Moroka Swallows as compared to Kola who last played his competitive game in April.
But it has now emerged that Kola is not part of the French-born coach’s plans for Algeria but wanted to expose him to Fench agents who will be watching and scouting Zambian players in France especially Hichani Himonde, Henry Banda, Stoppilla Sunzu, Francis Kasonde, Fwayo Tembo and Dennis Banda.
Despite FAZ refusing to get Kola a ticket to France, the Zamfoot Crew understands that Kola will be applying for a French Visa today and expected to join the squad later in the week.
Meanwhile the South African based players will leave for France today and join the squad tomorrow. The European based players led by the in-form Chris Katongo who was on target over the weekend will start to troop into camp today. Kola last featured for Zambia last year in the Chan qualifier against Angola at Konkola Stadium.
Armenia based Emmanuel Mbola, was scheduled to fly to Lusaka last night and get his French Visa and then connects to France.
William Njobvu who features for Isreali second tier side Hapoel Shmonne Kiyrat will join tomorrow after playing for his club tonight.

excellent player he is.he put up such a good game and i have all hopes thats hes going to make it in france.wats happening to kalaba, can braga get decided over wat they want, its not good to be changing clubs each and every season.
Kolokombwa on Mon, 31st Aug 2009 12:32 PM
Yaa, we have finally managed to knit this together. Anyway, it has be thumbs up to ZEGA for working out this schmeme. But i also thougt Sakuwaha was avoinding getting into tackles, he looked like he was saving his legs. Now i understand why. The plus is that we have him, Kalaba and Jacob Mulenga Plying first division football in Europe proper. Not bad, but definitely will be better when Saku shows them what he’s got.
Whither Rodgers Kola ! South Africa has never been the best destination for promising talent. Only the highly deisciplined Chris Katongo has really made it elsewhere. Sometimes its even better to play second division football in renknowned European leagues. Felix should have stayed in France and i beleive Sunzu should also be in Europe. When you look Francis Kombe before going to SA, he was easily challenging for a place in the national team, so was Kola, look at their situation now after spending a bit of time in SA !

I hope Kola is more humble than Clifford.

i am tempted to be the devils advocate but il hold my peace, but one question are they going to prepare for Algeria or for exposure to scouts?

I call it killing two birds with one stone, his presence will increase the level of competition in the camp. He could also sign a contract with a french team, while helping the National team prepare for their game against Algeria.
KK11 on Mon, 31st Aug 2009 3:32 PM
@Spaks
They are going to prep for Algeria but naturally scouts are going to be there too. There is nothing wrong with bringing Kola along to get exposed, i like the fact that Renard is looking out for the kid. So people need not get carried away……..
Chamz on Mon, 31st Aug 2009 5:04 PM
True nothing wrong with HR exposing our boys to French teams, I remember Clemence Westerhof was doing the same with Nigeria. Unless you tell me that HR is paid for that then that would a different issue.
Magic on Mon, 31st Aug 2009 5:14 PM
HR’s plan on giving him exposure is a ood idea. I am sure HR can use his clout to get more guys into France. Cmon HR, remove that phonebook and make one or two calls for our boys.
Uncle Bobs on Mon, 31st Aug 2009 5:22 PM
I like the saying that “There aint no such thing as free lunch”!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HR may be preparing to come to Tanzania as was reported in the press last week. He’s my pal and i shall be on hand to receive him if at all he did come over!!! But first kupwisha inchito with my beloved Zambia.
Ba Muzo on Mon, 31st Aug 2009 5:23 PM
The national team should be for players deserving to be in it by their present FORM. It is not a shopping window or shelf for clubless players. This could distract from the real thing on hand: TRYING TO GET A RESULT IN ALGERIA. And we can as well forget about a result if we feature players by their REPUTATION.
If the coach thinks a certain player is good in spite of his presnt situation: ARRANGE HIM A TRIAL SEPERATE FROM THE NATIONAL TEAM. Imagine FABIO CAPELLO calling MICHEAL OWEN(when he was at Newcastle)to train with ENGLAND so that he can be EXPOSED to SCOUTS.
Lets get real, how many players then will be called up on such pretexts?
Ba Muzo on Mon, 31st Aug 2009 6:13 PM
Further you want to train with players who are match fit so you gauge the strength of your squad and pick the best eleven. Unless you tell me the coach has a first eleven on paper already no matter their condition. The game is just on Sunday lest we forget and we want to help scouts identify our player some who have not kicked a ball competitively for MONTHS in this short period? By the way, serious scouts gauge players in serious assignments NOT TRAINING. Otherwise, I might as well be heading to Europe coz I train in Madalas football. Where are the scouts? Sorry for me, I do not have a RECOMMENDABLE PAST REPUTATION football wise.

No, it cant be. is Kola a teenager? no this is just too much zambia. there’s no way Kola can be a teenager.

sometimeS…thats how life is, just have to live with what you read.
Paulsn on Mon, 31st Aug 2009 7:46 PM
Ba Muzo you bring out valid points but your example of Michael Owen doesnt cut it. You are talking of a world reknown PROVEN GOALSCORER in Owen. The spotlight was on him even during his not so fruitful time at Newcastle. Besides he has good agents. Remember the pamphlet they sent to different clubs REMINDING them of his goalscoring prowess? To put it simply Ba Muzo, Owen is a bad example to make your point on Kola. Kola is unknown when compared to Owen. Owen doesnt need England to be known as at now.
Ba zed on Mon, 31st Aug 2009 7:58 PM
im sure kola is following the footsteps of his best friend fwayo!!
Justice Kafusha on Mon, 31st Aug 2009 8:36 PM
Is Kola not attached to Isaac Chansa’s club. I thought there are the ones who bought him and loaned him to Golden Arrows. So it must be them that have released him unless there is something else
Mumba Justin on Mon, 31st Aug 2009 9:03 PM
I just want to inform you that Jonas Sakuwaha has signed a Professional contract with SASP F.C LORIENT BRETAGNE SUD. The Contract is for one year. The club has offered Jonas a monthly payment of 3,000Ero. There is no signing fee as the club doses not pay the same. We have agreed with the Agent that he pays 10,000usd as signing fee to Jonas and we hope the agent will live by his word. The contract will be renegotiated in December 2009. Zesco United will be paid 50,000Ero. And F.C LORIENT will pay more to Zesco if the wish to extend Jonas contract after it expires. Jonas will still have to under go Medicals. The ITC will only be sent after the medicals.
I also wish to confirm that El Merreikh offered Jonas a one year loan contract. They offered a monthly pay of 6,000USD and a signing fee of 20,000USD. El Merreikh offered Zesco United F.C 50,000USD for a one year loan.
Zesco United are happy to conclude the transfer and putting a seal to the deal
I just want to thank you all for your advice it was so kind of you. We can only wish Jonas all the best. Zesco will miss him but for sure time has come for him to go professional in France
Matafwali on Mon, 31st Aug 2009 11:18 PM
That’s the 64 million dollar question ba Justice. I hope whatever it is gets sorted out soon.
Matafwali on Mon, 31st Aug 2009 11:22 PM
Ba Magic, I agree with you whole heartedly. I just don’t think it’s worth including Kola on the team. HR should have enough connections to call in favors with teams and coaches in France, just to get the guys a trial at a minimum.
James Zulu on Tue, 1st Sep 2009 8:52 AM
Hats off to you BaMumba and Zesco FC..The boy needed the career ladder moved closer to him..All the best Jonas. As for Kola joining camp, i dont agree that he will provide any competition, he is not match fit. Moreover even the finished mbesuma is a better option cause he has a knack for goal, this kola boy doesnt seem to be disciplined.(my opinion)_
Katongo Richard on Tue, 1st Sep 2009 2:08 PM
jonas has been a very consistent and disciplined player since the time he moved to zesco.Hence its only right that he gets the chance to showcase his potential at a hihger level and if he continues with the same commitment and dedication to his work, am sure he can raise our flag higher.
Abena HR balampapusha, how can he think of calling kola who has not been active for sometime now and in the light of the scoring problems that we are facing presently? Finally agreat idea has come through from football house in that its better to have collins and i hope they keep up with this kind of thinking?
vipack on Tue, 1st Sep 2009 3:15 PM
all the best suku. please be disciplined and take every chance given to you with both hands. play your game and am very sure they will extend your contract next year.
Kuku on Tue, 1st Sep 2009 6:38 PM
Good people, Zesco and good management. You kept your cards to the chest and the guy helped in the CAF. Apa mwateya injuka. With this kind of management and players going to better clubs will soon be getting better deals for our players. Its a process and lets appreciate: first things first-its players now, i think. I hope the minister has gas on stadia construction. Zega and other teams dont forget about academies. Peace!
