And South African based sports channel Supersport has expressed interest to beam the game live on it’s channel.
In an interview with Innovation Sports consultants Corporate and Communications consultant Lombe Mbalashi this morning following a press briefing attended by clubs, various media houses and FAZ media Consultant Erick Mwanza, Mbalashi said that this initiative was borne out of the realization that Zambian Football needs to see a change in the way things are done, the tendencies where clubs are dependent on hand outs must come to an end and the realization that football is a business should now be embraced by Zambians.
Mbalashi(middle) flankedby Nkana and Wanderers officials at Chrismar Hotel earlier today.
He cited the example of both clubs who were once footballing giants who jointly account for more than one third of football honors won on the Zambian local scene, with Wanderers holding the record for the most trophies won by a single club in Zambian football while Nkana are the most successful club in the league and yet both teams are now painfully in Division 1 North mostly as a result of the demise of ZCCM which was the biggest sponsor of Zambian Sports which ultimately resulted in lack of sponsorship of both clubs.
The two sides both based on the Copperbelt have battled for supremacy since the time immemorial and ironically the two clubs are in contention for a return to the Premier Division with Nkana holding the 1st qualifying spot and mighty the 2nd, one anticipates the magnitude of this clash which may just be the date when one of the two confirms their return to the Premier League. The quest to outdo each other and earn bragging rights is what has created a derby spirit whenever the two sides meet.
Meanwhile Zesco United have shifted base to Lusaka ahead of this Sunday’s mouthwatering clash against Al Merriekh at Nkoloma Stadium. Skipper of the side Enoch Sakala returns after a missing the last two fixtures through suspension but first choice goalkeeper Jacob Banda, Rodgers Kamwandi and Nicholas Zulu will miss this game. Jonas Sakuwaha trainned this afternoon with Zesco and might be leaving for France tomorrow.

Good efforts Lombe, it is always good to know that fans will forever cheerish the efforts of these great clubs. I wish more sponsors can come on board as these clubs can easily get to the premiership but sustaining ZPL will be even harder.
Let us indeed support the clubs not becouse we have grown up supporting them but they are the pride of our lovely game which is not the same without these great clubs in ZPL. It is an innovation indeed for the Innovation sports crew as your works are unpreceedented in the history of first dividion football.

Noah Chivuta scored for his team in S.A, no wonder Renard always included the man in the team even when he was ridding the bench for Supersport. The man is really a talent, if renard had the management to help him out Zambian football would defin be on the come up. as it stands he is gone after his contract expires which will be a pitty cause he has an eye for talent and the kids seem to like playing for him.

Seems like Zambian players have been in good form recently, I hope they wont be off-form on September 6.

Sakuwaha rejects US dollars 2,000 salary
By STEPHEN PHIRI
ZESCO United striker Jonas Sakuwaha has rejected the US$ 2,000 monthly salary (about K9 million) offered by French Ligue One side FC Lorient.
Zesco secretary Justin Mumba said at a media briefing in Lusaka yesterday that Lorient were offering between US$ 2,000 and US$ 3,000 as salary.
Mumba said Lorient have offered Sakuwaha a one-year contract.
“Jonas and the French club have not yet agreed on personal terms. On our part as the Zesco executive and our colleagues at Lorient we have agreed on the contract,” he said.
Mumba said they will engage Lorient in discussions in a quest to find a better salary for Sakuwaha.
Mumba said Zesco wanted to get a lucrative salary for the player.
Sakuwaha attended trials at Lorient from July 7-16.

Good decision this is. If they don’t offer a better deal, stay ku Zega. For sure a better and well deserved offer will appear in a while. Hold your ground Saku

Big Steve from SA on Thu, 27th Aug 2009 8:49 AM
Is there any confirmation that Supersport will beam the game?? and somebody informed me that Sakuwaha himself has rejected the French offer, guys in ZED what does the local media say about the French move?
Noah has always been a great talent. Two goals in two games is a very good record for a midfielder. Mbesuma showed sharpness and is running a bit more with the reduced weight though he came out as a typical in the box player. When he drops to midfiled its almost as if he has no true confidence to dribble or run with the ball. As soon as the ball gets to him he releases it when not in or around the 18 yard. He started the game really well but when Pirates changed system and clogged out the birds midfield maestro, Tsutsulupa, the supply to Mbesuma and Ndlela died out and they then seemed a little lost in the second half. I think if we have a very good supplying midfield Mbesuma is still one of our better bets for an in the box striker. He cant really win things in midfiled at the moment, I thnk he still has to build cnfidence of running at players.
Kenedy Mweene had an outstanding game, the best so far this season. I can now be assured the award last season has not got to his head. Had it not been for him FSS would have lost at least by three or four goals. His timing was just perfect and his agility shows why he is Zds No.1.

I will be there to watch my team – Mighty. It would go well if things like replica jerseys for sale could be arranged, For Might, even a bloemfontein Celtic Jersey would do.
On Sakuwaha, If $2000 is more than he gets at Zesco, then it would be rational to consider it. I dont know what the cost of living is, maybe aben whisper and Justice can advise – can one survive on 2 pin dollar in Europe ? I still believ that after a year, the boy will be eligible to earn ten times more than that. The issue here is to get into Europe.
gb on Thu, 27th Aug 2009 9:19 AM
@KK1
Noah Chivuta is a class act. His coach Gordon Igesund at Mariztzburg is full of praise for Chivuta, even the way he scored by ‘expertly chesting the ball’ speaks volumes of this rising star. the coach at supersport Utd was blind, he could not see what HR and Gordon have seen in this lad. Good luck. Am sure at the end of the year alot of clubs will be making some inquiries about this chap. work hard.
vipack on Thu, 27th Aug 2009 9:46 AM
i agree with kolokombwa, saku should just step his foot in europe and the rest will sort themselves out.
remember, the french club can not fully commit itself to saku because its a different ball game that side. all what suku should do is get there and prove every doughting thomas wrong, there after, it will be all systems go.
come on saku zesco is clining on you so that you save them in their champ. league campain. Remember, its your future at stake here.
chiti chitundu on Thu, 27th Aug 2009 10:07 AM
Yawama spaks thats the way my man. what you have done makes alot of sense. bravo bravo my man. we need to change from the old way of loking for donations, and l;ooking for small little handouts and crying over sponsors who cant sponsor our teams etc. we need new, modern, sharp, 21 century football ideas even in FAZ so the young guys like lombe are doing just that. Spaks well done.
As for sakuwaha, say no to cheap labour. people might say “stepping stone” but the same stone might just injure your carear. from the way you are playing you will get a better deal just be patient and dont lose discipline and the hard work….
