Chiparamba U/14 crowned Gothia Cup Champs

July 21, 2009

chiparamba2
Chiparamba Great Eagles were on Sunday crowned the 2009 Gothia Cup Champions in Sweden were they participated in one of the World’s biggest youth tournament.

‘Chipa’ as they known won all there 9 games and went on to score 50 goals and conceeded a goal only.

While in Sweden, the youngsters also trained with the Swedish Under-21 team.

Gothia has unleashed the potentials and talents of the likes of Dominic Yobe, Davies Nkausu, Boyd Mwila, Clifford Mulenga, William Njobvu, Given Singuluma, Fwayo Tembo, Hichani Himonde, Rabson Muchelenga’nga and more recently Rodger Kola and Jimmy Chisenga to World Football.

And in another related development, national team coach Herve ‘Fox’ Renard has taken what many fans have been advising him to do since he took over as the boss of the Chipolopolo Boys.

Renard has travelled to Europe to watch the Swedish based forgotten sons duo of Boyd Mwila (Djungarderns) and Edwin Phiri (Ljungskille). He will also watch Isaac Chansa who play for Helsingborg IF.

In Finland, Renard will second look at Whiteson Simwanza, the player who anchored the Chipolopolo Boys’ midfield in the Cosafa Senior Challenge last year. The Frenchman will also have a familiar face in striker Chris Musonda. Musonda was part of the initial squad before the CHAN 2009 qualifier game against Angola.

Simwanza and Musonda’s RoPS teammates also hoping to catch the eye of the ‘Super Fox’ are striker Nchimunya Mweetwa who has just recovered from a 13 month injury layoff and highly rated Chanda Mwaba. Others are Stephen Kunda, Chileshe Chibwe and Godfrey Chibinga.

Still in Finland, Renard is also expected to go Oulu and watch the Yobe brothers; Dominic and Dornwell. AC Oulu is currently top of the first division.

And finally Renard’s last stop will be in Germany were a date and way forward chart with Andrew Sinkala is expected to take place. Many fans are divided whether Sinkala is the missing puzzle in the Chipolopolo set up.

I agree bro….Renard should just look at Boyd,Chanda Mwaba,Isaac Chansa and Andrew Sinkala..The rest are excess luggage..

It is HR who is going to make that decision and I think we should wait until he is back and hear what he will say. He has not gone to select the players but merely to have a look at them which is very normal. He could have done that long ago. There is no guarantee that he will pick any of them

So just take it easy brother

Let HR have his own assesement of the players. Let him do his jo

I will not congratulate the chiparamba U14 side because they are cheats. Non of those boys is 14 years old not alone 16 years. they are all 20 and above. This is bad for soccer development in Zambia.

hahaha@Muta…Comon man 50 goals in 9 games thats impressive, at least give them that much. That’s like scoring 5 goals in every game, We now have some future scorers.

Muta has a point if indeed they are over 14s as that score may not hold if the same team of overaged players had to face the same teams they humiliated 5 years down the line. Put differently, they will be more players featuring at the World stage from the vanquished teams than from the Victors(if indeed they are overaged). Ba Nigeria bazagwiliwa nachi machine at the next Worl Cup in their own backyard.

I want to agree with Muta more on the score of age cheating. I too have distanced myself from this so called Gothia tournament ‘triumph’. This junior chipololo triumph like many others before, doesn’t whatsoever inspire hope for the future development of football in zambia. We all know that the road we’ve embarked on towards recovery of soccer standards in our country must start with the proper mgt of human resource (players) itself. We can have state of the art soccer infrastructure but without players, it’s futile. south africa is one such example. Ever wonder why most Zambian players except for the likes of Kalu, Charlie cool, Msiska do not retire but just finish and diminish? it’s because when evryone else expect more from them, they’ll have reached their retirement age. Dennis Lota, Kilambe, Haile, Perry mutapa & Chris Katongo now ’27yrs’are a few examples. Kalu, just the other day was tutoring the under 17s at independence stadium currently in camp for the forth coming cosafa tourney in swaziland. He should’ve seen that most of those players are not under 17 but he instead elected to cast a blind eye to that. Let soccer administrators in the coutry stop this rot. It gives false hope. Our dream to lift the AFCON cup & a maiden world cup appearance will always elude us if we do not stop this cancer.

If what Muta has pointed out regarding age cheating is true, then we do not have future scorers. I hope and pray he is wrong and that those boys are really 14 and below

Age cheating is a very ‘Hot’ issue.Until Zambia develops to a point where we can carbon-date our players,we will always be crying. The other real solution is to start Primary/Basic School Football League, where Teachers have proper records of Pupils Birth details.Currently, all players who go to Academis, will cheat of their actual age so that they get that place.

Where is Nenani ? If he is reading, maybe he can explain to us how strict they are on using “real” under 14′s. I know that Simataa at one time was very strict on getting players of the right age when he was coach of the under 17.

We could be debating the negative but in de actual sense the kids wre less than 14. Lets not be judgemental people, lets talk wit facts, We Zambians re tooo negative and it hurts at times, big up boys, continue to kick butt

i tell you guys,HR might come back without picking any of these pros,so let him do his assessment and we wait for his come back.meanwhile congrats to the under 14 which in any case i dont think if that is under 14!

We do not a sitiuation like that that exists in Nigeria. Obafime Martins claims to be 25 when his actual age is around 28, 29 or 30. I think there have guys on this blog who have confirmed that players have teaching, they had been at the same schools with some of these players who have been cheating in age. It is not all that cheat but there are some who are doing this and this killing our football. It is not because we want to be negative, no but it is because we our footballers to clean by telling the truth. It won’t lead us anywhere if we continue like this

I think Chiparamba are definately one of the better academies when it comes to ensuring that age groups are adhered to. Amuna Ozuna, most of the academies are calpable because they either turn a blind eye or actively encourage age cheating. Many of the ‘children’ that turn up to the academy don’t actually have any formal ID, it is up to the academies to check original birth certificates to verify. Most of them don’t do this and then make up ages by knocking off 5 years from the original.

Point taken justice but i wish we could be more positive, had ve boys lost, we wud not ve been talkin about de age factor but since they won, we ill try to find a negative element, so sad, tough luck chiparamba, u aint gettin it easy here

You guys You guys, Am not from Zambia and I saw all the game here in sweden, you should be proud. If you think that this kids are big you should see the nexicans they played against in 1/16 finals and the other mexican team in 1/8 finals(this game should be the finals).
So should say that mexicans was not 14. Ok you have problem with age in Zambia I think its not everyone. If so everyone here that is writing have wrong age, go talk to your parents and ask one more time.
Bye from Sweden. They won be happy they put Zambian on the map everyone here are talk about the Zambian boys that played well.
ooh even in sweden people cheats, are fake.

  21. Dr_five on Thu, 23rd Jul 2009 8:38 AM

Thanks sweden, age cheating is everywhere but shud not be condoned, take for example arjen robben, the oldest lookin 21yr old, surely was he 21 by tat time, john terry claims to be 28, obie mikel says 24. The list is endless….. Esien, martins, feligo etc Age cheatin is world over but we shud not over look the positives the boys did, congrats boys,

  22. Justice Kafusha on Thu, 23rd Jul 2009 10:12 AM

Thanks for your contribution Sweden. Sweden in the past Zambian players did not cheat about age, but after the introduction of the under14/17/20/23′s age cheating has become rampant and the people causing all this in my view are the parents who have dreams of having their children get a professional contract abroad so as to sustain the families. Most of these moves have backfired in the end. It is not healthy for our football at all

We as Zambians are concerned because that is the way most of us are. I disagree with you that a person born in Sweden can cheat on age never, that is not true. I have seen the system here in Denmark it is impossible to cheat on age if one is born here, unless you are coming from outside with fake papers, yes that way it is possible. The system does not allow that

That aside most of us Zambians are tired of players who give us false promises only to fade away in a space of 4 seasons and at an age they are supposed to reach their peak. A lot of resources are put in during the grooming of these guys and as such we expect something in return. We are not going to accept cheating whether age or anything else. Any proud Zambian will never accept this and by the way Zambians are a very proud people. Yes maybe we have been honest a little too much in the past but that is the way most Zambians were brought up

I do not care if the rest of the youths in the world are cheating in age, what matters to me is that in Zambia a country I am proud of we do not do the same. Two wrongs do not make a right. If you cheat in Sweden and think it is ok because all are doing it, well I would simply say that is your own fish to fry. We will never say yes things that we know are wrong, never, we will always call a spade a spade and no other way

If our team are really under 14 I say congratulations, but if they are not then it is rubbish. I though hope they are 14 and under.

  23. Katongo Richard on Thu, 23rd Jul 2009 2:40 PM

    @chisha
I agree with you 100% on the issue of age cheating.any serious person knows that it will not take us any where and its high time we learnt to tell the truth and stop sending 20yr olds to represent us,i watched the arrival of the of the victorious chipa on znbc last night and i thought i was watching the of the team when infact it was the team captain, what am sayn is that the guy looks seems to be beyond 14yrs old and i suggest that ba zam foot you actually follow up this matter so that we know the truth cos we might be wrong?
It is good that they all their games but i suspect it was a matter of having 21 yr olds from zambia vs 14yr olds at the gothia cup.Gentlemen how can a team play 9 games, score 50 goals and concede only 1 goal?
There can only be two reasons for this result
1-their oponents at the tournament are extremely useless and can not be matched to them{chipa} OR
2-They truly age cheated, the organisers believed them, gave them fellow 14yr olds.

  24. From_Swedem on Thu, 23rd Jul 2009 4:46 PM

I can tell you why they scored 50 goals, In the group stage they had 3 bad teams, that only have like 2 0 r 3 good players, Chipa had like 9 good players. Put when chipa played against Chivas from Mexico then it was a close game, that they could win. In Boy 14 there was over 30 groups and chivas and chipa was top rank.
Last year same thing happend with the brazilian top team Cruisero they won all the games with more then 7 goals, even the finals, this was B16.

I have played in highest level here in Sweden and Abord and I am not born in Sweden. The youth football is unique you can play one day 1-1 next day you win 10 – 0 but is you look on gothia cup the result are not that big with Boys 18 or girls.

Yes I know there is a problem with age in Africa and I want it to stop. But we most have prove and I can also tell you that Gothia checked all the boys before the semifinals. If they could not find anything then Hey congrat the boys.

If you that big age problem in Zambia then its starts with all of you parents. The goverment have big blame on it too. Its so simple thing to fix, and please dont ask why, because like here in sweden and Danmark like some wrote, we have a database with all the name, birthday and place, and you get and birthId like this 1995-04-20 0446. The biggest problem is that you country is not connected properly with different computer networks like A police network, a medical network, Gov network and school network and Turist network.

As we dont have prove yet we give the guys cred.
And I never said that here in sweden people can easly fake their age it was not what I ment.

Interesting that you played football at the highest level. For which club did you play?

Sweden do you think some of these boys maybe signed on by any Swedish clubs in future? You watched them play

    Cheers

  27. From_Swedem on Sun, 26th Jul 2009 11:11 AM

Yes I watched all the games.

The true is that 4 of them can, its to soon its on thing to play good when you are 14 and another thing to play good when you are 20, as every one is as big as you.
I know some of them had agents talking to them but they are just 14 so the interest was not that big. if they where 18 that would be another thing am sure.

But I think they should get more help from their sponsors Orgryte, For me at least 6 of the players could play for Orgryte U17. But they just use the name Chiparamba
