French Ligue 1 side invite Sakuwaha for trials

July 3rd, 2009

Zambianfootball.net can reveal and understand that International and Zesco United winger Jonas Sakuwaha has been invited for trials by French Ligue 1 side Lorient.

Sakuwaha who was voted in the CHAN 2009 ‘Team of the tournament’ as the best right winger is scheduled to fly out to France this weekend and expected to spend a week there.

The gangling winger whose main strength is pacy and power has been one of the most consistency players in the Zambian Premier League.

Lorient finished 10th on the log last season.

And Sakuwaha’s Zesco teammate William ‘The Magician’ Njobvu is also set to leave for trials on Monday together with Sebastian Mwansa to Israel.

Power Dynamos captain Francis ‘Mr Reliable’ Kasonde is on the verge of joining Sudanese giants Al Merriekh while South African PSL side Bloemfotein Celtic are also believed to be after his signature.

Chan 2009 Golden Boot winner Given ‘Freedom’ Singuluma will be linking up with his new teammates tomorrow in Sudan. TP Mazembe is taking part in the CECAFA Club tournament in Khartoum.

Gametime12 :Man Rwanda is just playing for the sake of playing, there’s no purpose in whatever they are doing.

The longer the game goes, the more confident they will get

5 minutes to go in the first half. Rwanda are getting more confident as the game progresses-they had their first goal attempt following a run from the midfield similar to the ones the Algerians had in the 3-1 defeat. The Pharaohs clearly have not learnt from that one

Halftime Egypt 0 Rwanda 0 For all those that have been calling for a change in our defense. I think Egypt just proved that our defense is better, I haven’t seen our young lads give our opponents easy chance like the ones in this game.

  16. DaMwiinger
    July 5th, 2009 at 20:22 | #16

Dear oh dear!!! Zima only had the goalie to beat. His attempted cheeky dink also beat the cross bar.Poor defending by the Pharaohs. The Rwandese offside trap is working well so far. They will need to keep their concentration-all ittakes is one defender to get out of line- Half time and it’s still goalless. Rwanda’s Croatian coach will be the happier of the two though he will most definately have savoury words for Zima for the missed opportunity. What a second half it would have been had he put that away……

thanks for the links guys, Rwanda look very comfortable and composed in defence, they look fairly patient in counter attacking. Egypt are frustrated, of course they’re under pressure to win. Shawky picked up an injury and was substituted.

Aboutrika. One is bound to ask where the hell was the defence there. Aboutrika had acres of space to head that ball past the goalie. How will the Amavubi respond…..

The Egyptian fans have a placard attached to an RSA flag saying “we are coming back in June 2010″. That’s a far cry from a team that is still to go past Zambia away and play a tricky Rwanda away

What a bad break for Rwanda. The line’s man did not even raise his flag and the play was right in front of him. This is where a ref should consult his line’s man.

  48. DaMwiinger
    July 5th, 2009 at 21:10 | #48

The direction the ball went afterthe goalie dived for it clearly shows that he got the ball. The Egyptian striker didn’t even fall to the ground and there was certainly no protest from the Egyptians. Rwanda will feel hard done by this but maybe it’s justice since Egypt had one claim which seemed ligitimate in the first half but was not given

I was worried about Rwanda being able to maintain their game towards the latter part of the game. The accounted for themselves well, even though its not over yet.
