Renard confident of victory as Algeria train at Konkola

Zambia National Soccer Team coach Herve ‘The Super Fox’ Renard is bubbling with confidence ahead of tomorrow’s top of the table joint World Cup/Africa 2010 Group C crunch clash against the Desert Foxes or ‘Greens’ of Algeria at Konkola Stadium in Chililabombwe. Speaking here this afternoon after his charges had  a mid-morning training session at  tomorrow’s venue, the French born mentor revealed to the Zamfoot Crew that the Chipolopolo Boys were ready to carry the day against Algeria. And the Agerian team tasted the Konkola turf with their own work out which began around 14 00 hours, the kick off time for tomorrow’s titanic match, after the Chipolopolo Boys had left.

Renard has said his team had enough amunition to trample the Desert Foxes. The 40 year old coach has expressed confidence in his defence marshalled around former Under 20 class of 2007 partnership of Nyambe Mulenga and Dennis Banda that has not allowed a single goal at home in the qualifiers thus far.

The Super Fox has also revealed that Fwayo Tembo had not been considered for the Rwanda match because he had lost training time as he attended to his new marriage in Lusaka but that the explosive Etoile Du Sahel winger was in the frame to play some part in the Algeria clash.

In training, in what looked like the probable line up for tomorrow as first revealed to you earlier this week by Zamfoot, Renard had Kennedy Mweene, Joseph Musonda, Emmanuel Mbola, Nyambe Mulenga, Dennis Banda, Francis Kasonde, Rainford Kalaba, Felix Katongo, Given Singuluma, Chris Katongo and Jacob Mulenga on one side facing the rest of the squad.

Meanwhile, Algeria also trained at Konkola this afternoon with Coach Rabah Sadaane having two groups of his squad train seperately  with what looked like his first eleven team on one side and the rest by themselves as they were put through their paces.

**This the same line up which beat Egypt 3-1. Note that Belhaji(left back will be attacking alot to make the formantion to 3-5-1

Speaking shortly after the ‘Greens’ training session coach Sadaane said he believes after watching Egypt shock World Champions Italy 1-0 Thursday at the on going Confederations Cup in South Africa, the Pharaohs were still the favourites to qualify to South Africa from Group C in spite of his team beating them 3-1 in Blida a fortnight ago and lying at the foot of the table.

The veteran coach who masterminded Zambia’s fall in 1985 however admitted that Zambia would also have a say:

”I think Zambia also have a chance because they are a good team.”

And Sadaane has said he had no problems with the pitch at Konkola since FIFA had passed it fit for the match.

Its bad,yes…but i live in algeria and i have seen the Blida pitch (its at Tafoura if u doubt dat am in algeria!!!) and its not the paradise u guys are making it out to be..go to Le Buteur website-algerian players themselves have stopd complaining abt the pitch!!! Gosh…we oready know u guys wil deploy ‘long balls’ and yet u maintain that u’l play attacking football??? Pliz say & mean one thing and stick to it!!!

    I’m frankly getting sick of people bi#ching about the pitch. Konkola has never been our No 1 destination but due to work being done at Independence Stadium and the new Ndola stadium, we have to settle for whats available. Watching the Confed cup, i was appalled at the state of teh pitch at Loftus stadium or is it Elis Park, yet this has produced the best football so far. Good teams adapt and get it done and if Algeria or whoever wants to make a living out of taking shots at Konkola, please knock yourselves out cause at the end of the day FIFA says this pitch is good enough to host the game and thats all we need for now. Good luck Chipolopolo, give these Algerians something to really cry about

    Brothers, I know you mean well but I think you are attacking the wrong pipo. I think your issues should be kuli Chipungu. That is his field of play. Abena Kalu just run the sport but Govt funds it to a larger extent.

    Back to the game, like every true Chipolopolo fan, I also wish I could just go to sleep and wake up at kik off b’coz I am so excited and looking forward to kick some arabic butt.

    Wait a second. You guys are crying about something that is already in the works. The Chinese are already working. So what seems to be the problem. It is not Kalusha that let the independence stadium run down. As a government the well being of the zambian people is priority. Grants given to the government are not meant for building stadiums. A nations debt is not cancelled so they can build stadiums. The private sector should come together with FAZ and find investors to build modern stadia across the nation. Football is big business and to top it we have world class tourist attractions. Less Government more YOU. BUT first things first. We have a task at hand, stadia or no stadia. We have to support our team we have to qualify to SA 2010.

    Marty we know the problem is currently being resolved, but I think we still can vent whenever we can. Nothing will change until 26 months when the new stadium will be opened, but I think we should be free to express our displeasure. One of the big problems ku Zambia is this acceptance of mediocrity. I’m not sure how other countries with our level of talent would handle not having a legitimate stadium or even a national football jersey for that matter.

    Believe me the first chance i have to buy into a Zambian club am going for it. Why are Russian and Saudi Billionares investing in Football. It is the greatest platform for investment and marketing. The first Zambian Billionare is going to be someone who invests in Football. An idea would be finding a Zambian business/investors to develop a stadium to international standards, then turn around and sell shares to the Zambian public. Who gain earnings based on their investment as you would in the stock market. Market it to European teams for off season training and such. If you have 10 million share holders contributing $1 a month atleast. Won’t be long before you start building mansions. Just like real estate investment. It has worked in Europe and the USA. The key is fiscal responsibility. NO GOVERNMENT! – You can start with buying out the Independence Stadium – :) Now, I don’t live in Zambia so I don’t know what kind of regulatory obstacles you would encounter. There is power in numbers. Positive contribution is the way forward. Thanks for your input.

    This guy has passion. Almost believable. Potential upsets by; Morocco – maybe, Tunisia – yes, Egypt – yes, Algeria – no. You have no under 20 players to build from. Thats why you go begging French-born drop-outs. Good luck though.
