Storm brews in Algeria camp

June 10, 2009

A storm is brewing in the Desert Foxes camp after the dropping of ES Setif  star attacking  midfielder Lazhar Hadj from the Algeria squad travelling to the South Africa training camp ahead of the Chipolopolo clash on June 20 at Konkola.

According to Le Buteur, Lazhar Hadj Aissa has been punished by the Algerian national team coach, Rabah Saadane, following the negative attitude he displayed when informed that he was not part of the 18 players which faced Egypt in 3-1 Group C win in Blida.

Apparently, the player was so disgusted with the decision that he threw a bottle in training and voiced his displeasure to the coach in front of his team-mates.

While Hadj Aissa denies this allegation, he has admitted that he was bitterly disappointed with the coaching choice and that he requested his passport be returned to him so that he could request a visa from the British Embassy.

“The player who tells you that he’s happy to follow a match between Algeria and Egypt from the stands is a liar. Even the substitutes weren’t happy to be on the bench and they wanted to play, it’s human. For me, the player who isn’t disappointed with such a situation isn’t normal. So I was angry, but I kept that to myself,” he explained in the interview.

Furthermore, the player indicated that his request for his passport was not a sign of him abandoning the team but simply a desire to get a British visa so that he could travel to England to undergo a trial with Portsmouth.

Hadj Aissa also took the opportunity to express his devotion to the national team, and he wished the Algerian players all the luck in the world for their World Cup qualifier against Zambia.

The move to exclude the highy talented player will not go down well with many Algerian fans particularly those from ES Setif.

What did i say? This coach does not need strikers coz he is preparing to play defenders. Zambia’s forwards better be sharp no missed opportunities this time. 99.9% play execution. Again, Sadaane is coming to defend, thats all they need to do to command the group. He will play a 4-5-1. Renard needs a strong offence. Jacob Mulenga should be the key. They need a beating.

I would not consider this a “storm brewing” in their camp.

It makes the two of us, i don’t see that as storm brewing, it a normal thing in a team. Thats the same way all players feel when they are dropped after being summoned for duty.
I wish the Chipolopolo boys all the best, am sure we’ve moved on from the bad patch we were dwelling on after our silver metal from Africa cup.

    @Situ
I seriously agree with you. This guy was not even in the top 18 and they should say a storm is brewing? Wrong heading for this story! That guy is not even relevant to decision making. A sunk cost as we would call him in our field.

Its not a storm after all.We just need to be focused in this game as they shall be highly motivated. One thing for sure, they will come here to try & defend their lead in this group.if they score,we wont have it easy to jombolola but we have to fight in that sun.I was thinking,Zambia shouldnt have gone to camp in SA,so that our players who have always been out can aclimatise to the environment here. The Desert foxes should sure get tired easily in the game which will be played in the sun, just like Rwandese players were falling on their own.

Guys lets analyze the Algeria- Egypt game.

Y did the scores come in the second half and what was the main cause? Who made the mistakes or who made the right calls during the game.

From the onset the Algerians controlled the game and that Y they did not make any changes until the 85th minute. The substitutions they made were only to pump up the midfield so that the should further cut off the Egyptians. This is there Game.

The Egyptians on the other side looked desperate for goes and that Y the had to be first to make a substation for a mid fielder so that they can try to distribute balls to the strikers.

In my opinion, the Algerians will either maintain the 4 defenders or increase them to 5 against the Chipolopolo. The mid will also be concentrated to cut off the Zambian strikers. The best approach the Zambian can make is to first avoid any surprise goal from the Algerians and then feature holding and dribbling midfielders like felix, Clifford, Rainford (free kicks and corners) and then Fwayo can be used to tire the Algerians. Lets play them a fast Game and tire their defense like we did to the Rwandan boys. I know that the Arabs are no fans of fast football and much pressure on them we can yield results.

    Go Chipolopolo Go Zambia
