Germany Bundesliga.2 side Augsburg has extended international midfielder Andrew Sinkala’s contract until June 2011.
And another player Joseph Musonda has also extended his contract by three years at South African PSL side Golden Arrows. The left back is currently in camp with national team.
Sinkala joined Augsburg at the start of the 2008/09 season as a free agent. The second tier side initially offered the ex-Nchanga Rangers ace a one year deal which was due to expire at the end of this month. But after an impressive campaign mainly at the heart of defence as opposed to his more familiar defensive holding midfield role, the Augsburg hierarchy decided to extend Sinkala stay at the club.
The calm and elegant midfield maestro was first spotted by Bavarian giants Bayern Munich at the FIFA World Youth Cup in 1999 and spent two seasons in the reserve side together with Manchester United’s Owen Hagreaves before moving to FC Cologne.
The 29 year old last played for Zambia in the Chipolopolo Boys’ 3-1 over South Africa in September 2007. He missed the Ghana 2008 African Cup of Nations and subsequently the second half of the 2007/08 season after he was diagnosed with tuberculosis.
Late last year, national team coach Herve ‘Super Fox’ Renard tried to make contact with one of Zambia’s most experienced players at the moment but it is believed Sinkala snubbed the Frenchman’s phone calls.
While the ‘Super Fox’ acknowledged to have made a mistake by criticizing Sinkala in the press in August, the Frenchman wanted to end the feud with him and hand him his last chance of donning the ‘green and white’ or copper national team jersey as the Chipolopolo seek a maiden appearance at a FIFA 2010 World Cup.
To many fans, Sinkala still remains dear to their hearts and think he is the missing jigsaw in the engine room at the moment which has a lot of attacking options but lack a quality and recognized holding midfielder though nothing should be taken away from Francis Kasonde who has been filling the role in the recent games.

If chris remain with the same team, we might see him going head to head against Sinkala.

Good for Sinkala but thanks but no for HR. Your time is up as Sidney Kalume of ZANACO also needs his chance after Francis Kasonde.
