Zambia’s most sought after striker, Given ‘Freedom’ Singuluma is said to have been caught up in a transfer triangle after reportedly signing two contracts with two foreign clubs while his contract with Zanaco is still running. The 22 year old has yet to join the Chipolopolo Boys with Coach Herve Renard saying he has given the former Bay United striker time to sort out his problems before joining camp.
And Chipolopolo number one goalkeeper, Kennedy Mweene and another South Africa domiciled professional Chintu Kampamba have confirmed they will join the squad which regrouped in Lusaka yesterday on Wednesday to begin preparations for the decisive World Cup/Africa 2010 clash against the Wasps of Rwanda on June 6.
Singuluma is said by Zanaco Chairman David Kaunda as reported in the Times of Zambia to have signed with Finnish club Haka FC and T.P Mazembe of Congo DRC respectively.
The Chan golden boot winner has not been featuring for Zanaco lately after returning from trials in Israel which were not sanctioned by his club.
Mweene of Free State Stars who inspired his team to a remarkable 4th position in the ABSA Premiership whose title has been won by Noah Chivuta and Davies Nkausu’s Supersport United for a second year running and Kampamba of Amazulu will join the squad this week after the end of the season in South Africa.
The rest of the professionals called up for the Rwanda showdown will meet up with the squad in Johannesburg on May 17. All local players called up have reported except Singuluma and had their first training session yesterday.
Mweene is reportedly in the country but sorting out personal issues on the Copperbelt and will join the team later this week as will Kampamba according to team manager Solly Pandor as reported both in The Post and Daily Mail.
Mbesuma will disappear I am sure
Singuluma what is wrong with you. Are you a Congolese and you now want to go back
Singuluma is one of the few Zambian players who speaks some good english and his claim that he didnt what he was doing doesnt hold water, I think it was just folly on his part.
I like the commitment being by Chintu and Mweene. These guys are coming from winding up a hectic season at ther clubs and one would expect tham to be rushing home to “chliliza” but they are putting all that away for national interest.
Thumbs up to the guys, I hop they set precedence for the other players in terms of upping ther comitment to see us at SA 2010.
Singuluma’s story makes sad reading. I don’t understand why the guy had to sign two contracts. Though i suspect Moses Katumbi at TP Mazembe must have promised him good money and he decided to ignore the Finnish deal. A Congolese friend of mine last time told that Tresoir Mputu the key man at TP gets $20,000 a month.
Wishing the guy the wisdom to go the right way … Go Zambia Go ….
Am not sure i can believe that mputu gets $20000/month…i think that the congose are just sitting on mputu so that they can get the best deal for him,,,,, even then who wants to go to congo and develop his soccer career ..singuluma let the golden boot prize to rush to his head, the boy needed/needs a personal advisor.
i wonder why HR keeps calling nkansu and chivuta, these guys are not active player at superspot united. For Chitu well he’s an experienced player and all that, but i think…hes running out of steam and age is catching up with him.
Mbesuma…has not been convincing at sundowns i think he does not derserve a chance…
i think Andrew sinkala should have be given a chance this time around
sorry guys the space!…maybe i double clicked or something i donot know what happened
@josef,RSA
What about Felix Katongo and Sunzu in France? They are not playing eirther at their 2 division club in France. Why are they in the team? It looks like when you are not playing at your club then you stand a better chance of being considered for our National Team, so maybe Sinks, Boyd and Edwin should ask their coaches not to play them as I sure HR or is it Kalu and Chilemena will pick them
I think Singuluma should look bak and check on what has happened to some zambian footballers who rushed in signing proffessional deals abroad, the end isnt usually good, look @ wat happened 2 Emmanuel Zulu, where is he now? Mbesuma was rushed 2 sign 4 portsmouth wat happended, hiz now tryin to regain his form, Linos Chalwe sneaked out of the Country and signd 4 Bay United apparently this is the same team Singuluma had prematurely signed 4 earlier on, let him jus sit back bang in goals 4 Zanaco, get a first team start with Zambia am sure a good team will come 4 his signature.
Don’t know what happened. Kindly request Zamfoot to delete some of the stuff. You have really taken a lot of space. I was just wondering josef of all the people
I agree with you, if only he had some bongo bongo. Signing for TP Mazembe. I do not recall any Zambian player that has played in DRC
@FBM
Josef, u will agree with me and the rest of the guyz here that its unfortunate the Felix Katongo isnt playin @ his club but he is a good player am not sure i saw sunzu in the team that Renard named, take another look at one player who plays so well 4 zambia but doesnt feature 4 his club coz of differences with his coach , Noah Chivuta, i think Felix & Chivuta still deserves 2 be in tha squad.
Cameroon will play the Ivory Coast in a friendly on 13 June to raise money for families of those killed in the stadium disaster in Abidjan in March.
FAZ should do the same for those that died in Chililabombwe
If I were Felix I could have packed my bags and gone back to Rennes, play some games in the reserves. Much better. Felix Sunzu is in the squad
@FBM
I agree with u my Bro, its a gud initative.
I hear Felix Katongo could be leaving in June plus Zamalek are after him!
I have watched the egypt match a couple of times and from what i saw, Noah chivuta played very well.
But why does’t he play for his club? Maybe he plays in the reserves at his club
The word “learn” is an island for many of footballers. They never learn. We all like money but footballers love money
Song, can i get a copy of tat game, o could you tell me on how to access it
You see, gentlemen this is what we’ve been talking about all along. When FAZ issues a transfer cetificate, someone will be pointing an accusing finger at them saying that the transfer was illegal. Remember the Mayuka and Kombe wrangles? Players in Zambia are often caught up in transfer wrangles due to the desire to make money as fast as they can. Do soccer academies in Zed teach all those aspiring soccer players about transfer deals. In the end we shall be shouting “FAZ has done it again”.
lets not cut the guy in pieces, lets get to him and understand his case if we can, we all make blunders … God bless the guy and grant him success … God bless us all as well … Go Zambia Go …
Ha Ha Ha… thats a good one
why are zambian players so dull??????given thought he was very clever and he has just buried his football life to death!!!!!
It all boils down to the issue of honesty and integrity among all of us, firstly if this is true then im sorry to say the young man has let me down, secondly i doubt that he is capable of doing such on his own accord so he should be influenced by someone and honestly this should stop at the end of the day we are ripping ourselves off, and at the end of the day we wonder how our friends prosper, they are honest and look out for each other, ifwe ni boot licking back stabbing and looking for the quick buck, awe mwe, if i didnt know better i would say we are cursed but it all boils down to our foolishness which we mistake for being slick.
@Never yes my broher>>>> you can laugh
but felix you will agree with me that he’s a good player, you cannot compare him to chivuta or nkansu in terms of skill, sunzu am not sure he deserves a chance…i think don’t so, but maybe HR is using french SOHCAHTOA formula to select the team.
Guys is Sinkala married? Has he got kids? What about Sichone?
@FBM
my apologies…BOSS….am sure
zamfoot has forgiven me., FBM you seenm to the blog’s “class captain”. sorry class captain.
@Kashman
kashman maybe you are right my brother, we can only wait and see the performance and results of the field of play
@Dr_five
Let us discuss how it will be done. My e-mail address is corneliusmusalula@yahoo.com
That was a joke Bro man Josef. I like to be the class captain on this one you 100% correct
@SONG
@Metal pa metal
May I know if our Zambian players have their personal managers? Why should we lamp the blame on Given alone. I have known Given as a good guy. Infact I think he is humble and the guy may not be what we have all said. Perharp we should ask what his personal manager has been doing. The blame should be on the manager.
When you paly for a club in Zambia you have to inform them when going out for trails. Given sneaked out and kept Zanaco in the dark. This was wrong
@Josef.RSA. it is true Tresor gets $20,000 per month,i heard a commentator at CHAN mentioning it.This is why he spurned overtues from South African clubs because he does not see the need for a move there.Sunguluma’s case is a question of greed,it is the mention of money that has confused this boy! He is to blame and no one else.Sinkala will have his chance but for now lets give the coach room to do his job his way ,after all he is the coach and not any of us on the blog.You can only have so many players for every game and of course those that feature in the coach’s plans and not FAZ or ANY BLOGGER’S plan.
Amos, we are here to contribute to national development as far as soccer is concerned. You and I can have our voices heard not only by the coach but the whole nation as well. Zambia is one of the few countries where there is no player consistency. That’s why we dont win any medal. Every time coaches say they are building teams for the future. When is that same future. Remember, Ghana, Zambia and Ivory Coast failed to qualify to 2004 AFCON and yet Ghana and Ivory Coast did not just start prepare for the future team but in 2006 they did not only qualify to AFCON but World Cup. We can say something about football because it is our country that is at stake. In 1998 Bukhard Ziese wanted to leave out Kalusha to AFCON and soccer fans called for his blood. What happend? Kalusha was in Bukina Farso. Just few days ago, I was with Caoch HR at Lusaka Hotel Chatting with him. Thats when you get to know what they man wants to do for the nation and not just reading in papers.
Guyz am sure u ve heard that the Gate fees have been paged at K 50,000, open wing and 100 Grand Stand, FAZ is sayin its a measure taken to limit the Number of pipo who will turnup coz they are avoiding another stampede, Konkola Staduim is a 25 000 Sitter but FAZ would only sale between 19000 to 22000 Tickets, But am sure Knowin how we Zambians are and with the cureent perfomance even if the say K100,000 open wing pipo will still go,is this a gud idea, to hik fees
Pa last ama players besu Nimbushi fye. Mwati kuti walanda shani.
Singulume before he even gets ripe, he is swift to start recking his career. Scopo very vital in the football arena also.
If he does not quickly hold his horse he will finish like Sopo(ebu)
problem with Zambians is that, if pipo like great Kalu tryz to get involved and advice our players we jump in condenming him that he is reaping from them! so such are the results
Let the NSCZ solve this one
@Nephas Ndhlovu,
I understand you my brother,but there is a difference between suggesting and trying to interfere with the coach’s selection.Our inconsistency stems from our changing of coaches each and every time we face a hurdle,as a result every coach will have his own preferences and plans which may exclude some players no matter how good they seem to be to outsiders. One good example is the Tevez issue at Manchester United,though a very good player Ferguson prefers others over him.This is because if the team fails,he is the one answerable for his decisions.The best we can do is advice but the rest is up to the coach.Someone mentioned that some of the players called like Chivuta and Felix who are not active at club level but are performing well with the National Team,why should we drop them?Is this not the inconsistence that we have been talking about?Sinkala will have his chance!The qualifiers are still long and will be gruelling and we may have some casualties on the way in form of injuries,loss of form etc…The Egyptian game was the biggest test on whether we needed to make any drastic changes but alas the boys passed the test for another chance!
Thanks for that my man. I think that what is critical is for FAZ to avail the coach all the players that Zambia has outside. Then the coach will do his own assessment and make decisions. I hope HR will be able to travel and watch some of these players. I think its common in Europe and some parts of Africa for a coach to travel and watch their players. I equally agree with you that the coach should be given freedom to choose his own players. But I have come to learn that in Africa there is no absolute freedom when it comes to player selection. You and I may not interfere but believe me, Kalusha and Munaile interfere indirectly. The Tevez issue may in this scenario be different. Man U has some of the best players on the scene such that he should compete amongst the best to prove himself. We do not have the best players in the world. So is we have better ones playing in better leagues than the local ones or those in PSL, why cant we use them? People have talked about age. I think we desparately need a combination of old and young players. It is believed that Arsenal fails to perform in critical matches because Wenger has young stars. You need players in certain matches that have character and can withstand pressure. You remember how Nkhetani and Billy Mwanza were taught football lessons by Cameroon? I say that if Chintu was the first choice central defender in that game, we would not have conceded that cricket scoreline. I think we need to gel the young ones and old ones and gradually faze out old guards. We will make it.
@Nephas Ndhlovu
Are you suggesting the coach should change the central defence partnership of nyambe and dennis banda for the forthcoming qualifiers?
Well i have found HR very difficult to read but i think that central defence partnership passed what is arguably the ultimate test in african football. Keeping that egyptian lethal attack of zaki,aboutrika,mido,meteb at bay is not a simple matter. Ask Yaya toure and his fellow elephants.What is good about the team HR is moulding is that there seem to be no super star. All positions are being competed for.
Chamz, why are u asking about Moses and Andrews Marital and family Status.Will it add any thing to Zambia’s quest for World Cup Qualification? or may be u want them to adopt ur Children? tell us!
I just want to know. It has nothing to do with football. I know Chris got married this year, its has nothing to do with the debate.
Chiti, thanks. I was these guys, I would settle in Germany and become a player agent. I am sure they have German papers by now-permits to stay forever. Apart from Moses and Andrew, the rest of the new generation really struggles to stay in europe for long.
This is very upsetting. Where is FAZ in all of this? How can a Football Association be so incompetent and not manage contracts of national team players. Even if a player does something behind FAZ’s back, FAZ should still have some legal counsel available to protect them from mistakes. What kind of nonsense is this?
Again, I have to say, FAZ is 100% responsible for all the players who are registerede with them. How are we supposed to run a serious football establishment when everything we do is amatuer level.
act like kids at all levels ….shame
Iwe mune if you have nothing to say just shut up. What happened in the Mayuka transfer, FAz were accused of all the crap that FIFA has cleared them off, and today you point a finger at FAZ, are you mad or what
Why doesnt FAZ organise a friendly…we assess our players , gain some revenue from match tickets …………pure lack of management !!!!
Given is now in camp with the rest of the players. All the best to Zambia
I dont agree with the idea implicating someone like the FAZ into this young man’s mess. When they helped Mayuka, all trumpets where blowing, one wonders what the motivation was. Now i want to see what intervention honerable Namulambe and Chipunga MP’s can institute to assist the young man. Fine, there is no need since FIFA has given us what the law is, or is it because Kalu’s name is not linked with it; therefore no meaningful name on which to gain political time and worst Tax payers money in a character assassination.
Then again, i think it could be the FAZ to liaise with Katumbi to discharge the young man from that part of his tripartite engagements. Am sure TP wanted him to help them in the CAF Champions league. Trying to empathize with him, he must have thought it could be a way out as no one was asking for his signature it seems, but what did he take ZANACO for? Did ZANACO fend off some scouts? He needs to be assisted though, but FAZ must devise mechanisms to discipline behavior that tends to bring the Zambian game into disrepute. And Kalu should not distance himself from helping players to find dissent European clubs, for me that should be an implied mandate for a person whom Sepp Blatter knows by name. But Singuluma should have tried to continue on a hot streak from where he left at the CHAN. But again you hear Zambians talking of vested interests and all that whitch hunting after team selection. You must understand the boy wants to go where he can make something for his future, football being the short career it can-with risks of injury. On development of our local game, I maintain the starting point must be for government to urgently assist all clubs with infra structure (for some teams just better than Woodlands stadium standard) development as the focal point for growth of the local league. There are jobs in that for the local construction industry. On the other side, meanwhile people are coming up with academies here and there-make yourself one as well. Boys don’t even ask for pay at that level. Just Jerseys and Boots and friendly games.
Boss, its always good to know your facts and not just talk otherwise you stand to be embarrassed, FAZ only have the obligation to issue an ITC whether national team player or not so long as he is registered with them, know your facts bwana.
Spot on Spaks.
We have no stadium. Chile wanted to play us but no stadium, Cameroon wanted to come and play us here in zed no stadium we asked if we could play them in Cameroon they opted for another country
I wonder why these friendly can not be staged in SA
The problem with you chaps (Spaks, FBM etc) you always are quick to defend incompetence in Zambia. We have all the talent in the world, but for some reason we fail to even have an official national jersey. Our players are poorly marketed even though FAZ has all the backing from the Government. I for one do not accept mediocrity. Some of these matters maybe trivial to some of you, but if we can’t even negotiate a contract for a national kit, let alone for our players, what is the role of FAZ. I am not interested in excuses for FAZ anymore, the reason countries like Togo reach the World Cup before us is because of these constant acceptance of substandard behavior. By the way, I fully understand the ITC issue, but FAZ has the absolute responsibility for ALL Zambian footballers. If that responsibility is too great for them they should relinquish their positions.
I do not understand any of your noise. What is your point, just in one sentence
We need a psycologist for our footballers.It seems they cannot handle pressure.Am sure this singuluma boy is simply succumbing to pressure.
My point is Zambian football is not world class, even though we have world class talent, and the people charged with making us a world class outfit are FAZ. They are responsible for all matters football in Zambia, and if football in Zambia continues looking like its an amatuer operation, the people responsible are FAZ.
Zambian players are just not ambitious enough. In life you need to sit down and plan. (set up your aims and objects) You have to set up goals on how far you would like to reach and how you can acheive that. Get advice from people that have acheived something i life. Look at most of the friends to most of the footballers, it is people who want to destroy them, but they do not see that, and those are their advisers, who are just there for their money. Being an expert footballer is not enough if you do not draw some guidelines. In Zambia we even have role models in Kalu, Miti, Malitoli etc. But I wonder how many of these footballers ever seek advice from these guys before they make important decisions regarding their football lives. If one needs advice it is up to that person to make an approach to seek advice and not the other way round
Most Zambian players behave like people who live their lives without a budget, fikai sova ifini and too much drinking and hanging around useless places
Most of the top players do really train hard both physically and technically, they improve their game every time they get a chance
Players in Zambia need to change their mentality and very quickly or else it will be the same old story
I have not played soocer at a higher level, but I played at amature level here in Denmark and I learnt many things. I have followed pros in Europe, South America, Asia and as such I know what it takes to rich greater hights i pro soccer. Some one needs to organise Seminars and invite Miti, Kalu, Malitoli etc to talk to our players and pump some sense into them
Surely something needs to be done
@FBM
Fbm ur statment validates Steven’s point. You are so caught up in ur own mediocrity and percieved inteligence that u fail to see the nuance’s and merits of someone else’s thoughts. Obviously in ur mediocre world “just one sentence” would be enough to explain the complexity that is Zambian football. Otherwise anything other than ur view in one sentence is “noise”.
Justice, I agree with you. I think they have short term mentality. Go to Zambia and shine with girls and that. If you have a long term view you work hard to secure a living and a future. Look at Beckham, the guy is so rich but displined as a sportman. Ronaldo at Man U I understand spends a lot of time practicing free kicks.
National team players still have trouble speaking English? thats a shame in this day and age. Something is wrong
