Egyptian clubs Al Ahly and Zamalek are believed to be after the signature of national team anchorman Francis ‘Mr Reliable’ Kasonde according to reports in the newspapers.

Th Power Dynamos ace impressed the Egyptian glamour side in the Fifa 2010 World Cup qualifier against Egypt in Cairo in the ‘unfamaliar’ holding midfielder.

The versitile 22 year old who is naturally a centre-back scored Zambia’s equaliser that left the fans in the 120, 000 full to capacity Cairo International Stadium stunned but impressed the two clubs’ coaches and scouts.

Power Dynamos chairman Sharaad Nayee is quoted in Daily Mail as having said, ” I can confirm that two Egyptian Clubs are interested in Kasonde and I will issue a statement later on.”

Another Chipolopolo Boys ace and French based midfielder Felix Katongo is also believed to have caught the eye of the two Egyptian glamour sides.

And elsewhere in the papers ‘Overlooked’ defender Tana is not bitter after being omitted by Herve Renard. The former Nchanga Rangers kingpin noted that the younger lads in the team who impressed against Egypt needed to be supported.

Tana wished the boys good luckand said that he will be available for future Zambian games if needed-The Post.

Guess it should be Felix Katongo and kasonde in the article. Al Ahly is a good team its much better than going to South Africa. Hope they get the deal.

i had it at the back of my mind after the egypt game that some clubs from that country would go after some of these players. conciouly i would advise these players not to commit themselves to these clubs.Should they do so, this will not only affect their careers but our national team as well.Zambian players have never succeded in the North save for Kenneth Malitholi. Get the advice from Anonymous.

Kasonde should go to the team where he can continue playing not on the bench. As for Felix he can not afford to go to another team where he will continue warming the Bench.

I beg to differ with the above comments first of all our players have had a lot of success in north africa kenneth malitoli was top scorer in tunisia at esperance for a couple of seasons so was maybin mgaiwa at wydad casablanca in morocco .So guys lets not spell doom before people even try as they say not to trying is a bigger failure than giving it a go .

What do you mean you can’t succeed in Egypt because it’s a muslim country? A true professional learns to adapt!!! Flavio from angola did well at ALAHLY so why can’t these guys. Just becuase one player failed in the north it does not mean all of them will. Fwayo is doing well isnt he?

BALEKENI ABAICE BESHEKO PA EGYPT, AFTER ALL ITS THERE CAREERS WE ARE TALKING ABOUT. IF NO OTHER CLUBS IS SEEKING THEIR SERVICE THEY CAN AS WELL TRY OUT IN THE PEOPLE WHO ARE ASKING, DON’T YOU THINK SO? ITS WORTH A TRY. FOOTBALL CAREERS ARE SHORT TO WASTE TIME.

I have read the above comments and would say it is really difficult as to what advice to give. I do not mind Kasonde and Felix moving where ever they want, cause in the end it is their choice. I can imagine if they move likely in July that will mean Felix and Kasonde will face their Teammates our october clash with Egypt as AL Ahly have over 50 % of it´s players playing for the Egyptian National Team, assuming that these 2 move to Al Ahly. I am just imagining.

My advice to Felix and Kasonde is that if they have to move to Egypt it is better they both move to one club and before they choose which one of the 2 clubs, they should find out how many foregin players each of these clubs have in their squads, cause there is no need of moving to a club which already has more than 4 foregin players.

My other point is that the 2 should sit down with club officials from both clubs including the coach to hear what plans they have for them, not just to join blindly. So Felix and Kasonde start doing some research

pals if football is a venture to earn a living i would encourage kasonde to go ahead because felix is better place as at now, however, carefull planning should be involved.zambians do not expect retardation in football going by the current rhythem of soccer,so kasonde should play regularly inorder to expose him further by his new club to be.let him try

What is wrong with Zambian Agents.Again and Again I have asked this question on Several Occasions. WHO ARE THE AGENTS FOR THESE PLAYERS OF OURS.If really we have proper Agents the Guys would not have been struggling and suffering like may be they are Lost. LETS FIND CONVINCING DESTINATIONS FOR THESE PLAYERS.Felix you have a lot of talent exercise patience. Kasonde take your time You have all what it takes to break into European, You just need determination and Focus.
    Good Lucky Guys.
    Yours concern lovely Fan.

alhaly is a big team for felix and kasode to play for.The only issue is the religion. If these clubs are coach with a european coach then i dont see why they must not move there coz usually these coaches from europe are there for results not religion. But if it happens that the coaches to these are local then there would definately a problem.

Jeff, my brother from the same city in which I leave. Personally (my convitions)I would not encourage Zambian players to go to moslem countries because of my Christian convictions. 2. Yes, we had many Zambian players playing in the Arab world but which one ever ended up in Europe? Once you sign for these clubs you are a slave. The Egptian goalkeeper had to fight to join Sion because his club did not want him to go. Zaki is being overpriced by his club in Egpty so that he should not move on a full time basis. If they are doing this to their own players, what more a Zambian player? And we know that our players are not the most vocal. 3. Kasonde and Katongo have the AFCON and World CUP to market themselves, why rush?
    4. We are in the same group as Egpty, at least these boys can move after the World Cup, they may just be bought and let us down when Egpty comes.
    5. Before they sign, they must have a chat with Melvin Mwila and Mwila SR so that the facts about Egpty and the muslim world are related to them.
