Sorry meant that Angola aint on the verge-a typo. Yes i very much know about the Angolan coach being fired as it was a subject on Soccer Africa. Incidentally there was a call to fire the coach, the National Association supported him but only last week or so he was fired. Ba Chamz i went to the Togo National Stadium that is by far better than Independence and so was Cidedela.

Uncle Bob, Angola is out of world cup and have fired coach. Yes they are building new stadiums now for Afcon. But when they qualified to Germany, their best stadium was Cidedela built in 60's and was half complete. Togo's facilities are not good either. Zambia should first built at least 4 modern stadiums before dreaming of hosting anything.

Sorry Ba Marvin about being a cursed lot(just a figure of speech) in the midst of anger.

Ba Chamz i beg to differ on Angola and Togo whose facilities have alwys been better than Independence Stadium. On top of that Angola are even on the verge of qualifying to the World Cup. But again it is disheartening like you say to not that worthwhile infrastructure (not FTJ's Manda Hill or Levyz Arcades) have never been seen coming up since 1991 when Super Ken vacated. Not a single skyscraper.

Infact the Soccer Africa panelists were proposing that Zambia hold their home matches in SA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bobs, Amuna, Marvin and Chamz, you guys are right. We aren't serious as a nation. We are just chatterboxes, with no substance behind our voices.

To use a footballing analogy the score is

Demolished stadia 2, built stadia 0

Now we are banking on a super-sub (amachinese) to come on and change the game for us. The coach (FAZ) is sitting on the sideline asking the Technical Director (Govt) for advice. But all the Technical Director is doing is tying the laces of the sub. All this is happening in the 89th minute of the game with the ref about to blow time.

I really think that our leaders have skin that is thicker than a rhino's. Do they not feel embarrassed when they go and see other countries and don't have to dodge potholes when driving from the airport? Do they not feel pain when they write to the All Africa Games Organising Committee to withdraw from hosting the event? Do they not feel even more embarrassed when it is announced that Maputo will host; a city whose buildings are riddled with bullets from civil war that ended less than 20 years ago??! Do they not feel a loss of pride at begging the Chinese to come and rebuild a stadium that they pulled down, knowing they didn't have money to rebuild? These are fundamental failures and yet we persist to let these chaps rule us. A sad state!

The guy from the Ivory Coast was taking nosense, just as much as we need better stadiums, Angola and Togo qualified to the last world cup with poor facilities. I am not saying we should not improve facilities. I agree that the government since Kaunda days have never been serious with facilities, look at airports, roads, stadiums etc.

Uncle Bob, we are not a curse lot, instead it is a matter of misplaced priorities on the part of the leadership or government. I lamented though the Post that there is need for modern infrastructure like stadia and roads shortly after the disaster at the dilapidated Konkola stadium, when fans lost their lives. It was in the midst of a pronouncement that government was planning to put up three modern stadia in Lusaka, Ndola and Lstone before the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, to take advantange of participating teams. Alas, we are already in 2009 and I do not see how a huge stadium that is planned for in Ndola can be put up in a few months before the European and South Americans teams start coming near to South Africa for camping. Our neighbours are better placed to host such teams than us. It is our politicians who are solely to blame as this nation is endowed with resources which can enable us put up or improve our stadia. It's indeed a shame to hear foreigners or opponents laugh at us. It can only work if the politicians feel ashamed. But there's little evidence that our politician are ashamed at all. But as ordinary Zambians and soccer fans we are profoundly ashamed that we have archaic, dilapidated stadia in this era yet are strongly urging our Chipolopolo to qualify for the World Cup at all cost, when they do not have the right training facilities. Shemuna! Shame! We should be proud of our boys! I will wait to see how the Stadia Projects will progress!

I want a team from the copperbelt to win the premier league as they perform better at CAF club championship. I particulary do not like Zanaco winning our league becouse they are a very useless team who just spoil the country's chances at CAF club championship. I remember one time when they had 60% of National team players but perfomed badly, I equally was not surprised with Arrows perfomance it confirmed the phobia Lusaka based teams have at CAF clubs Championship. Good luck ZESCO and RIP Arrows.

U ar right Uncle Bobs.We Zambians are full of mediocrisy, infact,we are day-dreamers who dream that one day God will build us a modern stadium.Right now,the Chinese who came in our Country are doing nothing instead of starting works on the Independence stadium,as the bush clearing in going on in Ndola for the much preached about Ultra-modern Stadium who the Politicians are singing about. The Question is;Is the Government delaying these projects so that they can use them as comapign tools for next elections?.Please, pipo lets voice our dis-pleasure coz we have the right to have very good infrastructure as Zambia is very rich as compared to other poor countries on the African continent.Lets dictate our own destiny instead of Politicians coz,we learnt alot of lessons after the Dag stadium was demolished and we do not want a repeat.

Pole sana Ba Spaks and Dinamo, yet again your Power is throwing points. I have always felt that if Power can just find a solution to this usual inconsistency, they would be un-matched. Forest look good but like Young Arrows last season, i don't see them going all the way. The dark horses of the league seem to be City Yamoto that keep grinding out results-look a good bet. I think Zega and ZANACO will be the teams to watch, i never rule out Power of course as long as they can avoid such silly mistakes.

Ala mwebantu twalisebana Ba Zambia pa SOCCER AFRICA with the so-called Chinese stadia underway for 2010 and our shambolic Konkola Stadium as our current best. The straight talking Ivorian Mamadou Guey was point blank "I am very disappointed with Zambia for a team trying to qualify to the World Cup not having a proper stadium and are talking about building for 2010 now". Thomas Mlambo or was is Thomas Kwenaite went on to say "This will spoil all the good work Kalusha is putting in". It was shameful seeing the derilic Konkola Stadium being patched here and there and seeing the state of Independence with the high resolution camera focussing on rusted wire fences.

We are just a cursed lot but it is never too late as for me these are the projects we expect to be excited about than mini-buses, coaches' transport, corporate donations that are things FAZ should do at the click of the finger with the President's intervention. I am not saying the gesture by the President was wrong or the Corporates response was wrong, but the need to set our priorities higher and right as a country. Even smaller nations like Burkina Faso honestly can manage to host the Africa Cup. Let's learn something from Golf,Rubgy, Motor Sport etc. For me the first thing is not to allow mediocrity in the running of soccer (especially at club level)by allowing people with no Corporate appeal at all to be leaders (I may be too harsh but this is a fact when you look at people that have led our game lately).

So bane let's join and start from clubs as we are the ones to blame that shy away and yet we have brilliant ideas. I stand to be corrected but it is just disheartening to see soccer infrastructure crumbling after 45 years of Indepemdmence.

CHAN STAR GIVEN SINGULUMA JOINS FINNISH CLUB FC HAKA

The zambian has made a switch to Finland....

Top scorer at the Inaugural Championship of Africa Nationas (CHAN), given singuluma, has signed an eight- month contract with Finnish club, FC Haka.

The zambian international striker, who was released from his contract with a South African club Bay United, has said he signed for FC Haka till november with the hope of moving to a bigger league in Europe.

I have signed a short-term contract with FC Haka till november. I plan to use the Finnish league. which is not really a very competitive league, as a stepping stone for me to move to a bigger league in Europe, like that of france'', said singuluma.
