Zambianfootball.net’s columinist Ba Muzo compiles extracts from the back pages of the main papers and a bit of Kachepa from the Zamfoot Crew.
“Yesterday I watched the Egypt – Zambia match and I was impressed from several players, mainly the left back who now plays in Armenia – Emmanuel Mbola. Felix Katongo was excellent as well, and of course more players had caught my eye.” an International scout wrote to Zamfoot.
And still on Emmanuel Mbola, senior players duo of Joseph Musonda and Chintu Kampamba are believed to have been stunned by the heroics and performance of the Armenian based left back in what was the youngster’s biggest game. According to sources, the duo thought the player who never tested top flight football in Zambia would fell to rise to the occasion but alas he stood firm and impressed . This was his fourth international cap after making his debut in a friendly against DR Congo. He also played both legs against Angola in the CHAN Qualifier. (Zamfoot)
Zambia Breweries Group PLC have unveiled a K3bn ($600, 000) sponsorship package for the Zambia national soccer team to span over to 2012 as confirmed by the Group’s Director of Corporate Affairs Chibamba Kanyama who said as a result the company has ended the sponsorship of the domestic league’s Mosi company which the brewery firm had bankrolled since 1961. The deal is expected to cover various national team expenses and may even be extended to cover the emoluments of French born Chipolopolo mentor Herve Renard and his Physical Trainer Patrice Beumille and other issues that the FAZ may deem necessary. Kanyama says full details of the deal will be announced at an official signing ceremony between FAZ and Zambian Breweries at the plush Southern Sun Ridgeway Hotel in Lusaka on Friday.

Zambian President Rupiah Banda has showered praises on the gallant Chipolopolo Boys for their splendid 1-1 draw to the African Champions the Pharaohs of Egypt on Sunday night describing the team’s performance as good and urged the squad to remain committed in the remaining fixtures to qualify for a maiden appearance at the World soccer showpiece event in South Africa in 2010:
‘’I am personally happy with the performance of the team. I strongly
believe this team can qualify to the World Cup if the remained focused in
the remaining matches.’’
(Various)
Zambia Coach Renard has praised the contribution of goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene in the Chipolopolo famous draw against Egypt describing the superb saves the South Africa domiciled shot stopper made as ‘’fantastic’’ and was the reason the Pharoah’s could not find a second goal.
(Various)
And Renard has said the race to the World Cup in South Africa was wide open following his side’s splendid 1-1 draw away to Egypt but stated that the Chipolopolo Boys next assignment against Rwanda would be tough as the East Africa nation were looking to qualify to the Angola 2010 Africa Cup of Nations.
(Daily Mail)
Egyptian Coach Shehata has pleaded with fans to be patient with the Pharaohs as they had not given up hope of qualifying to the World Cup in spite of failing to beat Zambia at home and his Assistant Shawky Garib admitted that Zambia played well and closed spaces in midfield but all was not lost in the Africa Champions quest for a World Cup place. And Egypt Skipper veteran Ahmed Hassan said they panicked and became very jittery when Zambia equalized and resorted to playing long balls which is not their custom while Ahmed ‘Mido’ Hossam said all players should take the blame for the dismal result but they needed to pull themselves quickly in time for the tricky North Africa derby against Algeria in June.
(Times of Zambia)
The Zambia Under -17 national team is scheduled to take part in a 4 nation invitational tournament in the United Arab Emirates’ Al-Ain city from April 7-14 and a 24 member team has since gone into camp in Lusaka under Coach Aggrey Chiyangi to prepare for the outing.

University of Zambia students soccer fans association, UNZA Chipolopolo braved the chilly weather last night to welcome the members of the Chipolopolo Boys at Lusaka International Airport.
The students chatted….. Renard! Renard! Renard! when the Frenchman exited the airport. They almost lifted the Frenchman and the local players which included only Dennis Banda, Nyambe Mulenga, William Njobvu and Given Singuluma. Goalscorer Francis Kasonde was the first one to arrive back and used Ndola international airport. And surprisingly enough, Pastor Makembo and his ZAVOSOFA didn’t even show up to welcome the boys.
(Zamfoot)
And finally,Red Arrows football club this morning are scheduled to fly out to Nigeria for their CAF Confederations Cup first round second leg match against Ocean Boys billed for Ugehelli and the airmen have been declared ready to defend their 2-0 advantage from the first leg played at Nkholoma Stadium in Lusaka.

Now that we have a team and confidence is there, lets Solidify the team.Zambia needs to play friendlies moreoften and camp longer as to promote consistency and confidence in the new players,2)improve the teams s cordination and understanding of each other s weakneses and strengths. The coach can also propose individual training for each player so as to make sure our guyz remain focussed for the remaining five games.
Can someone do a ka coup de tat on Makembo! i think he was emabarrassed over what he said about HR. Focus, Zambia, Focus, SA 2010 here we come!
Mbola impressived everyone, even his team mates. Zambia played as team on Sunday and they deserve praise for a wonderful performance. Well done HR and the boys.
We are lucky to have a president who closely follows football not for political reasons but for the love of the game.
Gents,we are all happy with the result after the Egypt game, but one thing seems to go un-noticed or ignored. What is FAZ doing about the fracas that was caused by Egyptian players. The Zambians were shoved, pulled to the grund and a picture on BBC shows an Egyptian almost strangling a Zambian player in the process. To say the least, Egyptians were highly unprofessional, and that cant go scot free in the Premiership. It would have been straight RED CARDS. In short, FAZ should lodge in a complaint to CAF, who should been seen to take measure such that Egypt does not do that again in future.
Wishing red arrows all the best.it’s really important that zambian local clubs should also progress in such competitions. It gives exposure to the local players who cannot make it to the national team to have international experience.Imagine playing a team like zamalek,it’s like playing Egypt itself.
@saks swazi
Am with u on this one, Kasonde was strangled by an Egyptian player during a near brawl. FAZ should definitely lodge in a complaint to FIFA.
Monk Police,
You bieng police, i am hereby lodging in the complaint with you.Hahaha
i dont like makembo and his comments over the caoching staff and the squad.this guy should be condemed by all soccer loving fans
I fully agree AS, there needs to be an official complaint!!! Egyptian can not be allowed to do as they please!!! They really are confused chaps aswell…
To think that they escaped the game with only one yellow i believe.
Ya. We must stop being football’s nice guys-the most disciplined team etc. That is soccer, its rough and tough. We want cups and not most disciplined team awards. I like it that the guys took their time to come out and were involved in a scuffle with Egyptians. FAZ must definitely protest. But if the Zambian team did not protest to match commissioner on the day of the game, FIFA may just throw away the protest.
Faz Please do something about the behavior shown by the egyptian players in that game.By the way, were was the ref and his assistants?
Gents its always the same story when we play in Egypt (and Morocco). Complaining to CAF or FIFA will take us no where. Wat we must do is – Letr
@Ba Kalampa
Lets wait for the delegation leader s report. Why punish the Egyptians if they never mistreated us off the pitch?.What happened on the pitch is for CAF and FIFA remember there was a match commissioner.Us soccer fans lets turn up in numbers and cheer our team within the rules and regulations of FIFA.
Ba Kalampa, the heat will favour Egpty. Their country is hot like Namibia. Anyway, these days CAF has changed the way things are done. Teams book their own accomodation and transport using their own money. So Egpty will book themselves at Protea in Chingola, hire their own bus, etc. CAF changed the rules because teams used to complaint of poor treatment.
FIFA. Zambia made their own arrangements-hotel, food, bus. The only thing, we can do for them and their supporters is police protection, training pitch. Egpty will book themselves in a nice hotel, hire a nice bus just like Zambia did. The days of your hosts doing anything for you are long gone under new CAF rules. But I agree with you, we don’t mistreat people in Zambia, lets us take them on on the pitch.
Yes Ba Kalampa, i agree. It’s just that you would think referees in the modern day would know what diving etc is.
Nice to hear the UNZA showed up to give a fitting welcome back to the guys.
The problem of teams like Egypt, Morocco and Tunisia is that they think winning is their God given right or rather Allah. There are very pompus aba balungwana, and that is why they won’t qualify. And who says civilization started in Egypt, not after what we saw on Sunday
True, we should not only be fast in referring to FIFA on Mayuka matters, we should be seen to be serious about such matters. We should show the Egyptians that we dont take nonesense, even though we are such good people. Zamfoot, does Mr Kasengele check this site ? That was very cheeky of the Egyptians.
I think FAZ should take this case to FIFA and soon. I hope a complaint was lodged by our team leader. That kind of pushing was crap to say the least. Just send video tapes to FIFA
Gents I we argued today at work when I commended Jacob Mulenga for keeping Egptian defenders at work.My workmates insisted that Jacob likula.Yes the guy is not a goal scoring machine but I think there is something that has even kept him in France for the past 5 years & that is his strength thats usually weakenes the opponents defenders.A tactical coach can keep him to to the destruction & use a goal poacher to get the goals
Sorry meant to say to do the destruction
Ba FAZ ba tulo, even if you are not going to win the case you should still complain. What this does is it will make the officials scared to make decisions in favour of Egypt. Alex does this all the time, he bullies officials all the time. This makes people think twice about giving a decision against his team. If you take everything lying down then you become soft targets. Use all the legal channels you can to influence things.
Dinamo-some people don’t understand soccer. Why is Hesky in the England team? The guy rarely scores but he is body, height, strength. HR is clever. With due respect boys like Mayuka, Singuluma are easy to contain in such a game. Its only when you are 2-0 up and your oppoments are chasing the game, then Mayuka, can play and catch them on the break. 4-5-1, the target man must be strong like Hesky, Torres etc. If you saw the picture on the BBC, how Kasonde was almost strangled, you will agree that you needed a big man upfront to match them. Maybe teams like Rwanda you can play small guys like Mayuka.
guys i have an idea !!! why can’t we form up some thing like zamfoot supports branch for our nation team?? where we meet up and travel for home games as a group and give postive feedback to our team like we alway do….. i ready for konkola studiam on the 6th …
I wish Izoo (Isaac Chansa) was in Cairo, just to take part in that scuffe in the last minutes. Izoo likes such things. Some how its good him and Clifford did not play, one of them would have been red carded.
Dinamo the difference between you and your workmates is that you understand football. Jacob is that type of player every team dreams of. He is a targetman, can hold the ball and create room for others. All we need is to find him a partner (Singuluma) who knows only one thing, to put the ball beyond the goalkeeper and into the net, epela
Big up to ZB for the sponsorship package.KCM announced last week that they will pay half the salaries of HR & Patrice and with this ZB deal I think FAZ have some relief. What is important is for them (FAZ) to draw up a plan and put these funds into good use.To other companies, this is the time to be part of the winning team.Other teams like the under 17,20 and 23 also needs sponsorship if we are to remain consistent.Don’t just be excited when the boys get to RSA 2010 but bring those funds now so that the team prepares adquately for the coming challeges. With proper planning and adquate preps the sky is the limit.
Is Mayuka small? I thought he was of a big stature though smaller than Jacob! Abaiche besu nabo ni complex nenkanda iyabuta as i can assure you, take Kasonde to KMB in Kitwe, he would beat up those Arabs in typical kabova style. Most of our boys are from a rough childhood background and should be able to defend themselves from such “animalism” exhibited on Gatusso by McCarthy in SAv and now Kasonde by the “Egyptians”. But FAZ should for sure lodge a complaint if it is within our confines so that these mountain lizards are warned!
Gents the team did us proud as a country, however i think i have bone to chew with this man ypu call makembo, either he sticks to preaching the word of God or just shut up.This is the same guy who complained for not being invited for the dinner the president hosted for our team when they came back from CHAN,yesterday he was not even near the airport to welcome the lads.
Chamwe you are right and so is Justice Kafusha on the use of Jacob Mulenga. His physical presence mattered in the Egyptian match. Jacob for the umpteenth time played extremely well only that he is not a poacher in the mould of Peter Crouch. He is a Hesky. Those who do not understand the tactical aspect of the game will say he is a bad player.
When we differ with Renard, its our understanding of our players and the tactics we think could work for us. Am sure Chamwe you will like this next line:Renard proved us his critics that he knows what he is doing. He used a system that he thought was good for Egpyt and picked players he thought would implement it. And they did. Kudos. With consistency, I would not mind turning into Renard’s praise singer. Success deserves praise. Period.
@Justice Kafusha justice I was just wondering something, you look like a guy in his lower to mid thirties and yet you say you have been supporting Zed from the sixties, maybe its just me and you are blessed with young looks I dont know!!(haha)
Back to serious issues, I agree that we should say something to FIFA even if nothing comes of it the knowledge that we as a nation do take some sort of action will ring in a lot of peoples minds and teams that come up with nonsense will think twice.
FAZ should blame themselves for having used a danderhead like Peter Makembo as a campaign agent as now he feels it’s payback time. Let’s forget about such dimwits as even Bu Pastor bwakwe maybe bwafeki-the kind that are praying for thieves that stole our wealth that could have gone into building stadia for us soccer loving guys.
Peter Makembo is an empty tin and he’s lucky that we still have no choice but to respect his opinion with the contempt it deserves.
Ba Pastor, say something. His organisation shouldn’t be involved in running of FAZ or team selection. Stick to your job description and make sure that the lad’s are well supported.
did singuluma and mayuka play?
Really, we don’t want anything to happen, but we want them to know we won’t accept such bad sportsmanship.
As for the thing with Jacob, i see his strengths, but maybe at some stage we might say we need someone to score. It was a tense encounter and it has been a while since he last played for the team. Let’s not be heavy on him.
Good News for Our Boys
lol
The onus is on Jacob to make his game better by adding more strengths to it. Maybe tactics can be employed to use his strengths more. Also, Felix, should not be surprised if he is top scorer for Zambia. With the chances he can create and get, honestly we should be getting them.
One thing Zambians are knon for is being good for nothing. We should complain bittery to CAF.One Jacob i think he did he best under the circumstances.Egyptians had the physic we could not match
@Seen from afar
Jacob lacks the killer instinct on goal, he is good at tiring the defenders.
Our team’s performance over the weekend has no doubt generated a good feeling in all of us including “Abdul Salaam” (somewhere) but let’s quickly finish the celebrations and focus on the remaining games and let it be one game at a time. So far the way things stand – YES WE CAN! “Icho chi Pastor” is just embarrassing himself further. No man is perfect. When one is in the wrong, humility and magnaninously apologising their wrong does a lot of repair to one’s reputation. If he is as passionate about Zambian football as he claims, he should have been at the airport. “Abakali tabalanda…. “
Gentlemen, great to see the usual suspects and new voices back on the site. I gotta tell ya, withdrawal is a mother effa! Now i know what crackheads go thru.
I watched the game at a friends house who is Arabic, and we watched it on an Egyptian station in Arabic naturally. My friend was kind enough to translate some of the commentary and it was very telling. The Egyptians had no respect for us at all, forget all the pregame respect that was quoted in the papers all that was show or being politically correct. Basically we were supposed to lay down and loose cause they were the champs and we were just a “small team”! Yes we were small in stature, but we played big. Thru out the entire game the reference to GOD and how he wanted them to win, how he(GOD) thought they were great and would deliver them to victory was appaling! At one point the commentator said that he wished GOD would make the Zambians make a mistake so that Egypt would score cause he loved them. At this point it was commical to me becuase it goes to show u that the arrogance was not just reserved to the players but also to the people. When the game ended i told my Friend i Think god loves us both cause it ended in a tie.My brother turned to me and said “Bro i was just waiting for the commentator to slip up and call us monkeys”…..lol.
I hope when Rwanda comes to Zed we show them respect because the same thing we did to the Egyptians can be done to us. For people like myself who have been In Renard’s corner from the very start know that the self determination and never say die attitude he has instilled in the team will take us far. The key will be concentration and dedication, every game should be treated like a cup final. The team is defin starting to take on the persona of the coach, which is belief in themselves(like Renard) Dedication(like Renard), Coolness under pressure(like Renard)and the desire to go above and beyond(like Herve). Congrats to the team and the fans and like Sam Cooke said “its been a long time, but a change is coming”!
Game analysis =Mweene= man of the match.,Lungu= that was the last time if he is not going to pull up the socks. Mbola= excellent game, nyambe= improving in every game, sten banda= what a good player, kasonde= so reliable in the engine room, chivuta= had a fair game helping out mr reliable, felix kat= which lack of match fitness ?the boy is red hot though a little bit selfish , kalaba= tireless and hard working but the egyptians kept a close look on his eye for goals, captain chris= all over the battle ground in defence and offence with pride, jacob= what a bulldoza, i wish he was a defender but who will be terrorizing defenders, chintu= what a sub to close the game and performing as instructed, joseph= at the rate you are going you will be shifted to right permanently coz you did exactly what lungu failed, fwayo you almost punished that defence with pace and dribbles, herve= what a profile you are building, the bench and technical staff =you part of the victory and your morale gave us smiles. Bravo zambia bravo chipolopolo weelee !
Good one Sir Alex.I guess you meant to say Dennis Banda on Sten Banda.
Thanx dinamo., too many bandas in the team and all of them talented.
Big Steve I have had problems convicing the danish guys. I really look youger than my age. Most of ama danish think I am 30 or so but I have always told them ndi mpali pali. Today is my birthday and I got a great present from ama boys 1-1. ala bwafya tuli bakulu nomba.
Dinamo that is what I term as being diplomatic. Good way of saying things
Cheers man
No
That is the reason he is important, pali ba uku kosa and he is getting stronger and stronger. Jacob should always be a starter
Ba Muso You are right for the 4-5-1 formation you need someone who is strong and can hold the ball. The problem with Jacob though was that he could not control the ball, he has poor ball control. In the end He wasn’t able to hold the ball, and it beats the purpose of having a big man in the team. I’m sure We have other players that are equally strong and are able to control the ball or score a goal when they get a chance. Like I said before they should have given James Chamanga a chance, his much better.
That makes sense Justice, but then again We have players that can do both defend and score goals.
happy birthday ba justice. we need more pipo like u 2 tell us how things were back in the days.
Ba Justice kulanda bwangu kabili bamudala.Happy birth day to you bigman.
Happy birth day Ba justice, they say a man is as old as he feels while a woman as she looks!!!!!
Happy Birthday Ba Justice. KK11 your comments are spot on. I can’t agree more. The team is definitely taking on the personality of HR. I don’t know about the guys that run FAZ, but if I was in charge I would be making long term plans with HR. We need to sit down with HR and make him buy into the Zambian dream. Make him buy into the dream of making Zambia a great soccer nation once more. This will involve giving him an advisory role in addition to coaching. His mandate in this advisory role should include developing and implementing national youth level systems that feed the senior structures. After all he is a PE teacher and he is well qualified for this. This vision should be at least a ten year plan. You see, right now the football structures in Zambia are disorganised and are not aligned with the needs of the nationaol team. If we get HR to buy into these kind of ideas and win him trophies he will stay for at least five years. He is still young and eager to boost his C.V. so if we do not win trophies it will be hard to keep him. Other side of the coin is that the more we win the more sort after he will be that is why we should make him buy into a vision. A project that he will feel part off from its inception. This vision, project, should have clear delivarables such as:
1)So many number of players exported to such and such a top league per year.
2)Win AFCON by such and such a year
3)Qualify for World Cup by such and such a year
4)Be the number one ranked team by such and such a year
You see, at the moment we are just going where the wind takes us and there is no steering commitee. We need to get a working document that guides Zambian football that is in the public domain. HR is the man to facilitate this in an advisory role and make sure that there is knowledge and skills transfer to Zambians that can see it through to fruition.
WHAT NOW, DO WE STAY WITH 4-5-1
Guys, I am already so excited about the coming game and I was wondering how you guys think we should line up. I was really happy that HR used the 4-5-1 that I had been crying for. Now I am not sure what formation to play.
Key Considerations:
1) We are at home
2) We are playing Rwanda (arguably a weak team)
3) It looks like the group could go down to goal difference
Leaving my heart out of this, we want to beat Rwanda by a big margin but in being to attack minded we run the risk of conceding and going down. So when you make your formations please bear this in mind. On face value it looks like a trivial question with a trivial solution:attack 4-3-3 or 4-4-2. I have been giving it some thought and maybe we should stick to 4-5-1. I think it worked so well and it could choke the Rwandese who I think would struggle to get any change out of that 5 man mid field. I am a big fan of the classic 4-4-2 and for this game I am divided between the two. HELP?
4-3-3 is the best formation we can use at home. We need a win not another draw.
REQUEST: Zamfoot, I am a big fan of HR and I would like to know more of his thoughts on the game and a couple of other things around Zambian football. Could you please organise an in depth interview with him. If you can, could you give us (the fans)the opportunity to pose some questions to him via the site.
chipolopolo1 Jacob Mulenga has never played in any club back home or for any junior Zambia National Soccer team. My point is that he has the body and speed, but he needs to improve his soccer skills.
Happy birthday ba Justice! Hope you had a wonderful day and you are right, great present for you and to all of us from the boys!
I have never been a Jacob Mulenga fan, but I have to admit, he kept the defenders preoccupied. I agree he failed to control a couple of easy sitters, but my only contention with him is he needs to improve his scoring. If the coach keeps that same formation, then I think you need a scorer like Chris right behind him.
Congratulations to the team and the technical bench for a well executed plan.
Enough of blaming the Egytian players. If there is anybody who did us wrong then it was the Referee and his assistants,if there was fighting and foul play within the 90minutes,then its the Ref to take the blame and punishment. The referee was in charge of the pitch and not the Egyptian players. Those feeling offended should put the blame on the referee.(Maybe it was even the Refereee who told the Egyptians to push the Zambians.
it time for new and great records … but whats wrong with ZAFOSOFA? why not welcome the gallant boys? sothing not straight … any way God bless our republic and all that is within it. Time for new and great records, time to push higher on the fifa ranking. time for greater respct in the football circles
Ba Justice Happy belated bithday, HR,in today’s Post talks about leaving the past in the past and letting the new generation take its place. I agree with him but not in its entirity. let him leave some experience in the team, its priceless. Even on our site we need that from people like our birthday boy, Ba Justice, Uncle Bobs and company. He also talks about early camping for our team with all players, i just hope he can announce the team early so that faz can oorganise the logistcs on time for proper preparations…For us back in Zambia, we cantr wait to get on that 2 hour flight.
Happy birthday justice. Chamanga did himself a disfavour by going to China, its too far and no knows how he is doing, he should have stayed in SA.
Go Zambia…….Go Chipolopolo……2010 here we come
From what i gather its Ba Justice Kafusha’s birthday. I wish i could send you a bottle of your favourite wine mudala. All the same may, God grant you the best of years ahead. CHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!
Kaira I will be watching Chamanga on Monday next week through a Danish Web that sends games from allover the Global, including the Champions league from Africa. Chamanga’s club Dalian Shide will play away to Guangzhou GPC.
I have seen some of the clubs from the Chinese league and I can assure you there are not as people think. A lot of players from South America and Africa. The playing grounds are perfect and the stadiums are always packed. The standards did impress me.
I will give an update on how James is going to play
Thanks to all you Gents for wishing me a happy birthday. I wish you all well. God bless you all great sons of Zambia
Cheers
More years more wisdom Ba justice, come next year this time we should be saying look at where we started and what we have built. Happy Birthday bwana
I think Zambia is now spoilt for which players to pick. I mean Jacob, Given, Mbesuma, Chamanga, Figo, Fwayo, Mayuka, Frances Kombe, Kola-all this guys can play up front. Then you have Jonas, Henry Banda and other platers from CHAN.
I think we must have a developmental side-the rest of CHAN team, guys in SA who do not make it in the main team, boys in Finland, the Zulu boys in Isreal this team can play in Cosafa and FIFA days when the national team is busy.
It is good for our football because nobody will walk into the team like it were free transport. It is value that will count. I forsee more players in Europe as our draw in Egypt has not gone unnoticed. However our players should be carefull where they choose to head to. Just look at Felix Sunzu no game time and yet the boy is a talent. I think the boy must ask to for a loan move to Zesco or Red Arrows instead of alepwa fye. Felix should go back to Rennes and if they can’t use him then they should release him free of charge. It is better he finds a club were he can play instead of the current sitiuation
@Justice Kafusha
Justince Kafusha !!!Happy Birthday man!!! I wish you success, love, goodhealth and more goals.keep going ,nice citizen of our land
Justice, I forgot one more striker: Peter Chilemena. LoL. Thank God for HR who does not take nonsense.
You guys living in Zambia must form a social football club. You can play in the madala league. Name: Zamfoot Bloggers.
Ba Kaira on this one i will say as i did before, the lad has potential and infact was called up for the CHAN squad but he is in 4th year and opted to stay in school rather than miss 3 weeks of class, in my opinion, that was a good choice and come June we will have an Economist cum footballer, i tell you now give him 2 years and you may just swallow your words
Justice happy birthday my man!!! and may you have many more!!!
@zed supporter thanks for clarifying that I was just about to throw in the same comment.
@Gametime12 & @Benebake Guys, since when has Chamanga been a prolific goal scorer. Fine Chamanga won a golden boot in the PSL with 14 goals in about 42 games, well thats not really a record for a prolific striker now is it. I can agree that Chamaga is a decent striker that proably deserves a call up but to say he should get a nod ahead of Jacob is a bit far fetched. Jacob has presence in the box and this draws attention away from the other box which would be our box. Fine he has a bit of an issue with scoring goals but his other qualities and contribution count for a lot. And lets not forget one thing jacob had scored more goals than Chamanga’s 4 goals in the season, that itself says a lot.
We are still struggling with an out and out goal scoring striker, but wehave huge compensation in that we have goal scoring mdfielders and of late defenders.
Spaks, if his dad was not Marsha, i doubt he would have made it. He was forced on HR, just like the Munaile boy was forced into the U20. I understand he does not even play in the league.
Taking into consideration that Spaks is a coach and through a coaches eye has seen this boy play and rates him as having potential, I would say Chamwe and the rest of us, lets not jump the gun and see first before we throw in the towel. Granted he will have a it more being Marchas son and all but if a coach is seeing potential lets not be way too quick to judge. I agree though that the national team was far fetched to even consider him but lets not downplay a player we have never seen.
Happy Birthday Justice, didnt know you were in Denmark.
It looks like the chapter is closed on Sinkala and Sichone. Renard thinks we will not be strong if we keep looking to the past. I dont agree with him on this one because you cant just have a team of youngsters. You need experience and leadership as well, but he is the boss, so we now have to say goodby to Sinkala. I dont mind Sichone beiing kicked out but i think we never, as a country benefitted fully from Sinkala due to politics in the game.
James Zulu, the story is in Lusaka Times, Door Closed for Old Timers. When are we supposed to built for the future when you want old timers-Sinkala, Sichone, Tana. In the past few years, the under age times have been playing well, U20, U23, its a pity we did not make to the Olympics. The boys who played in Canada, are the ones coming into the team. If they boys played well in Cairo, why would you want to bring in older players? Look at England now, they are playing people in form, in the past they played names and white players. Why should HR take out say Mbola, Dennis Banda, Nyambe in the next game against Rwanda and use Sinkala or Tana? The same local boys played well in CHAN and some bloggers said Egpty game will not be CHAN but the same boys:Nyambe, Banda, Kasonde played well againt Egpty. Sinkala, Sichone, Tana and the rest have had their time. Maybe in the past these guys did not put in 100% because they thought their places in the team were guaranted. I am talking about Chansa, Tana who comes at his own time, Joseph Musonda etc.
Hope you all excited chaps will sing the same song (praising HR & players) should we be hammered by Rwanda at home. I know Zambians very well. Its good to celebrate a good result such as the draw in Egypt, but do not get over the moon. Its a long way to go.
Its a mistake to say the door is closed for Sinkala or even Chansa and Mbesuma. We still need these guys should they pick up their game. We should learn to reason with the brain and not be overwhelmed by emotions. Lets learn from the past and dont easily forget the past.
Kolokombwa, there was a time I said Zamfoot was campaiging for Sinkala, i was attacked left, right and centre by bloggers. At the moment, the team is playing well without Sinkala on what grounds should he be included? Do you think Sinkala will agree to sit on the bench while young boys like Mbola are playing? It seems to me that Sinkala is a personnel friend of many people on this blog because the reasons for his inclusion in the team does not make sense. Last week HR dropped, Chansa, Tana, many people including myself thought, this was a mistake. When I saw the line up with Mbola, Nyambe, Banda, I said HR was not serious. In the end we draw. When was the last time a Zambian team or club had a positive result in Cairo? We talk of experienced players: Katongo brothers, Felix, Kalaba, Mweene, the boys who played at CHAN are experienced now. Maybe Mbola lacks experience but he played better than Musonda or Hachilensa on Sunday in his fourth cap or five cap.
If we have old timers in the team, this is what will be happening:
Mido hits out at Zaki Wigan striker blasts team-mate
Mido has accused Wigan team-mate and Egyptian compatriot Amr Zaki of spreading false allegations about him.
Mido had to settle for a place on the substitutes’ bench for Egypt’s recent World Cup qualifier against Zambia and reports later emerged that he was furious to have been left out.
The 26-year-old claims it was Zaki who leaked the story and has criticised his fellow striker for making such comments.
“There were reports after the game that I protested against the coach’s decision to keep me on the bench, which is totally untrue,” Mido told FilGoal.
“I was even more shocked to learn that one of my teammates was responsible for spreading the false rumour, with the help of his agent.
“Zaki and his agent came up with that baseless story.”
Standard
Zaki made a stunning start to his Wigan career but has struggled over the past few months and Mido believes he must learn to be consistent.
“I just want to tell him that success in Europe is not realised by playing well for a few months and scoring some goals,” said the former Middlesbrough and Tottenham man.
“I have been in Europe for several years now and I have scored about 70 goals at the highest levels. I think that these rubbish claims do not match my standard.”
Mido has also stressed that he did not react angrily when told that he would not figure in Hassan Shehata’s starting line-up against Zambia.
“After the coach informed me that I will not start, I literally told him: ‘I am under your command and I will do my best to help the team at any time’.
“I am asking coach Shehata to clear my name after these ridiculous claims. The rest of my team-mates were also witnesses.
“I hope we can restore harmony inside the team if we want to reach the World Cup.”
Kolokombwa even in employment kwaliba retirement. The u/20 squad of 1997 should really be the ones we can count on. Tembo, Banda, Mayuka, Nyambe, Clifford and many others are no longer only the future, but are the present of Zambian football. Bena Kalu, Charles, Wisdom and company came in the same way. Changes are necessary if we have to progress.
Justice 2007 team not 1997.
Iwe mune find another platform, ifwe ni forward and never looking back. Chansa and Mbesuma are still young, and if they do well they may make the bench. This time talkuli ati this one is Maradona, Pele, Ucar, Ben Bomba, takuli, ni quality mune. For your information I will excited until SA2010. Some of you guys kwena katwishi, kaya. If you do not like what the boys did, why not support Egypt and convert to Islam, so that 24 hours. We are proud and we have a reason to be so. Tule ke mune
Justice Mudala i hope you have a good one. All the best.
Thanks
Why don’t you worry about you team Egypt?
Sibs thanks, ala ka chilisha pa weekend
Chamwe, the story also appears in our daily papers. All am saying is, i agree with playing youngsters in form, but the coach should not completely write off the old guards. If they are in form, i say include them. Its important to suppliment talented young players with older and experienced players. Even Ferguson knows that by playing the Scholey, Giggsy and company with the young crop of Ronaldos, Rafeal, Evans and company. it just brings balance to the side. I believe the coach should have an open door policy, not completely shut them out, but i will still respect HR’s decision when time comes to select our squad for the forecoming games.
People, I am taking anything from Sichone, Sinkala. I admire them for playing 10 years in Germany, few Zambians players have done that. But they had their time to prove themselves. How many African cups has Sinkala, Sichone played at? I think 3 or 2. Where they included in the best eleven like Wawa and Tana?
Can someone tell anything special these two have done for Zambia? Kalu was speacial players. I would rather give a chance to Mbesuma. Katongo remember the three goals in SA? What memorable game did Sinkala and Sichone play? They have just been average players. Yes, they have played for Zambia, for that I say thank you but their time is gone.
Big up to the zambian breweries. We want more sponsors. Even for supporters. Bafana bafana have sponsors for their supporters, why cant we do the same for chipolopolo fans. BIG UPS zambrew
Kaira this problem between Zaki and Mido has been there for a long time, and this Egyptian coach has failed to solve this one. Of course Mido was furious about being put on the bench, pantu Mido thinks he is Gary Lineker, and so does Zaki. And that is where Egypt have a problem, bena we should count them out
We managed a draw great!!!!
Now which way forward? Following the announcement of of ZB giving faz a sponsorship package worth $600,000(K3bln) and KCM announcing that they will foot half HR’s and assistants salary(around $15,000 per month), am compelled to feel there should be no issues about excellent preps for the comming games and world cup.
I would like to propose that this blog gets access to information concerning the expenditure plans for Chipolopolo football and if possible audit infor on the Faz account that will be impregnanted with collosal amounts of money. This is the right time to strongly send a strong message to the will be money plunderes/laundering couprits that we are on the look out and we need total transparency in all issues. We dont whant to come and start probing people for charges when we should be developing our football.
Baka bolala mwishibile chalimo!!!!!!!!
At the earliest let us say no to ubufontini bwamubola ukubutwala na mu managemnt of football. Great Kalu this is were you can save your name after the mayuka scandal. Be diligent and trust worthy.
Viva Zambian football.
Guys the Coach said players like Mbesuma will considered for the home games. Let Isaac, Collins, Andrew be given a chance to fight for a place in the team. Though what ever the Coach decides that’s fine. We can’t all have our favourite players in the team. Form should count.
The next two games we will need to be more offensive cos we will playing at home.
Egpty has won two Africa cups back to back for a number of reasons: good coach, good organisation, their teams play well in African club competitions, local players who know each other well and they took advantage of a good generation of talented players. Every country will have a good generation of players at one time. In 1999, we had a good team of U20 we never fully developed. At the momemnt we have the Class of 2007. The Nyambes, Williams, Bandas (about four Bandas), Clifford, Fwayo and many others. If these boys are not given play time, when are they suppossed to gain experience? We have a good generation of players,a young coach and an opportunity to make a good team, why should we go back to the past? Let the man a lot have been dissing as the “PE teacher” do his job.
Kaira my friend umfwa, the problem is not the coach in this case, but when a player like Sichone starts to demand 5,0000 dollars (USA) to play for Zambia, when he knows FAZ do not have such a kind of funds, that sucks. What does he get in Germany on monthly basis. Sinkala is good, but if he wants to play for Zambia he can as well take the initiative other than wait for FAZ.
My own opinion is that all derseving players should be given a chance, but they must bear in mind that things have changed. They won’t walk straight in to the team. Apa pena naika kana, cause those in the team will even want to do better, yakosa nomba
@Justice, whatever your name is
What platform? What makes you special? Atase? Why are you behaving like MMD cadres who do not want to hear opposing views? Is this your blog. Behave like a mature big man. Why bossing yourself around on the blog. Maybe ulichimwaiche fye. Respect other people’s views ok?
Sibs you are right. Isaac, Mbesuma, Chamanga and Andrew, it is all up to them. Of course there is room for improvement in our squad, but for players like Tana, Sichone and maybe Musonda I think it is the end. Mbesuma needs to work very hard, I feel pity for umwaiche Mbesuma. Sibs can’t you pump sense into him? Destroying himself like that, awe mwandini
Anyway, when I really think about it, how many old guards do we have left who are still in active football? Zeddy Saileti!!! LOL. It is true we actually dont have any of them remaining, Well too bad for the old folks, I for one have had a change of heart and will say let them retire in peace and make their money at thier clubs. Even i would not want a 80yr old man sitting on my happiness to promotion coz he just does not want to retire.
Call me at 0045 50315528 or 0045 60473182 or SMS me and I will call you back
It has come to the attention that most of you bloggers are not welcoming other guys’ views. This is a platform ya ma Zambians bonse and not a few called “elites” on the blog. There sre no special ones here as we are all equal. Respect other pipo’s views and we will earn respect as well. Its like there is a gang which is against others. Shame on you.
I feel that only Clifford and Mbesuma should be given a chance. Clifford is very good and should develop with the rest of Class of 2007. He is very young too and many years ahead of him. Mbesuma has the potential and his problems in England, Turkey are not entirely his own problems. He rushed going straight to England, that is not easy even Drogba, Ballack have struggled to find their feet when they first went their. In Turkey he was injured and being inactive grew a lot of weight (He is big already). I think in June, when the team camps (Times of Zambia, says HR wants them to camp for three weeks), Mbesuma should work with the physical trainer. Then him and Jacob can play the target man role. Mbesuma is even a proven goal scorer. Mbesuma should just be disciplined because Adrino, Ronaldo have all gone through similar problems. Imagine a fit Mbesuma, Jacob in front!! It would like facing two rhinos.
Kaira Given has signed for Olimpic Marsile in France
It is here on zamfoot
Most guys on this forum, Billy SA, SIBS, Magic, Sparks, Kolokombwa, Justice are level headed guys. What are you talking about, other opinions are not welcomed? We always differ. The problem is that some of you are writing things without logic, its not that your opinions are not welcome. Look at me, I am one of the few, who is saying Sinkala should not come back. The rest of the guys,do not agree but its not like we are angry or insulting each other. Just improve your conduct. I have never had problems with guys here.
I guess after the Egypt game, its difficult to call for some inclusions. However even though we drew, there were still some weaknesses that need to be improved on. In my philosophy of football, a number 6 is rare talent. He should be able to turn on both sides ie left or right and still maintain control of the Ball. The skill for this position does not get churned out in mass production thats why when we look at the times we have played well, we have had very good defensive midfielders, not makeshift ones. Frncis Kasonde is a makeshift midfielder and he may be exposed at a critical time. There has always been a clear succession plan for this position. When i started watching football, Jericho shinde was just taking over from willie phiri, then came Derby Makinka, the John Lungu, the Maybin Chisanga ( Cyborg – i loved this player ). Things started looking murky when Ben Bamfuchile took over and started using makeshift midfielders, he was however successful in converting misheck lungu to that position, but he still couldnt deliver like what naturals would offer. Currently i think Stophira Sunzu has it and so does Kebby hachipuka, however these boys need to be shadowing someone experienced like sinkala. Take alook at how long these number 6’s woud stay in the team. The reality howver is that the coach has said that he doesnt need him, so lets be civil and organise testimonial matches for Sinkala, Tana etc and say thank you very much for your national service
Kolo, a agree, Tana and Sinkala have been faithful servants. Why not in Chingola where they come from?
Kaira I am shocked about the condact of AA, but I have chosen to ingore him. I really enjoy exchanging views with true Zambian soccer fans, not AA alais Lelo Lelo and company. Anyway no futher comments.
Justice i will try make an effort with Kemps maybe we can have an audience with Collins . Kemps keeps contacts with Collins i think. Iam not very far from Sundowns training ground though acess is difficult. I had a Nigerian friend playing for Sundowns two seasons ago i could easily go to Sundowns training games but not now.
Thanks Zamfoot we need order .
Thanks Sibs
Gents if I have made any mistake or offended anyone please advise. I really feel bad for someone to hang me out like this. I really do not what I have done

BaJK & AA, it happens to the best of us. People lose tempers and opnions are not always everyone’s bread & butter. But, to BaJK, thank you for keeping a cool head over the issue, hope Bakamba baAA can follow suit and we all continue with the constructive critism we have for our football. Zamfoot, thanks, lets not turn our site into a site like LT full of imiponto ne nsele.
Ba Kaira,I remember the time the Sinkala issue was discussed I also made known my displesure with the campaign manner in which zamfoot had been writing on Sinkala’s inclusion. I still feel though, that Sinkala’s skill (not Sichone) is still worth a place even with new revelation of talent in our national team.
On Peter Chilemena, he does not deserve a debate for a place in our national team for now. I will have no problems including him in our team if ever that potential will be natured into skills worth a national call up, for now we have other more deserving players who have already realised thier potential why waste time on un natured potential of this Chilemena boy.
Okay, I hope we are done with the “respect each others views” thing because if it goes beyound here it will get boring.
@chamwe kaira Guys lets not just throw praise around anyhow, you want to praise Egypt for using young players?? C’mon, how old is there keeper? How old was Hossam Hassam when he retired from the national team??
Its funny how some bloggers here think experience counts for nothing. Even with all the old cliche’s there is no better teacher than experience, etc, we still think that those players that have played at the highest level for many years have nothing to offer. Almost every team of significance on the world stage has old guards somewhere on the line up but here we are, thinking that the inexperience of Mbola and the fact that he came out shinig in one game is reason enough to throw out the old guard. Did we not learn anything with Kebby??
All we are saying is that the coach should look at these guys before he makes a decision to rule them out, yes we need to move on but this should happen gradually as is any successful change.
Unfweni guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I know my topic is not much of interest looking at the way no one has commented on what i wrote. Don’t you all think we need to ensure that the moneys on FAZ’s desposal is appriopriated according to its inteneded objectives!!!!!!!!
Read my comment below once again and comment.

I am sorry if I offended you brother, but Ba Zambia ngaba mupepi no ku teya ama nerves yalaba kwata yakosa
Sorry for anything said, bati remember naiwe wali isa hard. Anyway that aside we are all Zambians and I hope we can fight for a common goal
Remember I am just a humanbeing who make a mistake like anyone else.
Cheers
I think you have a point and a strong one. Pantu apa nomba FAZ will feel like they are independent off Govt and as such we may see 7 officials accompayning the team when they travel out. The Govt and ZB should demand accountability. Pantu apa kuti yaba sangwa po
Guys lets avoid personal attacks, ba Justice good you have put a side the anonymous personal sentiments, it made me seach your comments and I did not fing anything to deserve such comments against you.
Big Steve while I understand your point, I feel that they are certian players that do not bahave according to their age. We have older players like Chris who is 28, Chintu 30, Musonda 30, Felix 26, Jacob 24. Of course of there are others who can do better than what we had in Cairo, they should be welcome, as long as they are better than those we have
Thanks Vin.It is OK no problem
Big steve, spot on ! Experienced players also provide leadership when the chips are down. The draw was good, but to say that our game ws flawless, would not be entirely accurate. Some of these players that Renard is discarding have never been given a chance to show him what they are capable of doing, and yet they are playing in very competitive leagues. Has Sinkala ever been called to camp ? i Know i might start sounding like a scratched cd but i still believe he can credibly compete for a place in the team.
Mumba no one is special on this blog. This a debat forum and such people come with different views. For those of us who now know each other so well, all we do is give each other respect and I feel respect has been the keyword as to why this blog is getting larger. There is no gang at all, but there are people who like Zambian football that they can comment on what is posted on this blog. For information anyone on this blog can make a mistake, but in the end we agree on most issues
Just try and control your ama tempa, these are discussions that give a lot information. It is not a competition, but knoweldge sharing.
And for all those who wished me a happy birthday, I will do the same for the lads as long as I know when they have birthdays. I have a eeling this did not go well with you and AA. Good people are good people, and there are many on this blog
Thanks brother
Thanks Justice,
thats the spirit, you will agree with me that a team’s performance is determined by the way it is managed. Managemnet entels good policies plans and offcourse availability of funds to provide at leats 80% if not all facilities a team expected to perform well requires.
The funds have been given to Faz! So i strongly feel we have a good chance to shine again, i.e. if we manage our football well.
What am advocating for is taking advantage and make the best of this rare opportunity especially that it is a coincidence, money has been given when we are just preparing for the world cup and the african nations cup.
Viva Chipolopolo boys
Kalombo,I hear you and appreciate your idea of independent assurrance of accoutability for our FA. There is a problem however, your suggestion that we, on this blog has access to FAZ accounts and Audits as audit services services can only be instituted by FAZ members themselves and not us as fans.
To serve your concern,FAZ being a an association affiliated to SCZ could be audited by the Auditor Generals office and Zambia breweries setting a condition on thier sponsoreship that will require FAZ to have audited Financial statements. We need to understand that even with an audit FAZ can still use resources caresly with full authority of the FAZ and not still not have an adverse audit report as all expenditure will have been fully authorised however extravangant. The best way to ensure accountabilty is for the sposors to prescribe how the money should be used e.g as specified USD 15 000 coach salaries them FAZ will be forced to comply and not use it any where else.
Magic, the game against Rwanda is tricky in that we now need goals unlike in Egpyt where we were very cautious. This time we need more strikers. So may be 5-2-3 might work. 3 strikers -Singuluma, Mayuka, Chris. 2 attacking midfielders-Kalaba, Felix. 5-Kasonde holding role, Mbola-left wing back, Fwayo right wing back, Nyambe and Dennis Central defenders. IDEALLY. Drop your email may be we can chat further.
Big Steve, My issue with Jacob is not his inability to score, but his ball control skills. His job was to hold the ball, but how do you do that when you cant even control the ball? Did you happen to see the ball that he failed to make against Egypt? He could not control the ball well enough to slot it in. Now if you want to compare the two players on paper you know very well that Chamanga will win the fight just look at the records. But I was not going by the record when i said that chamanga is better. I’ve seen Chamanga play in the last Africa cup championships, he scored when he had a chance and harassed the defenders too. All I said was that they should have given him a chance, I did not say that he should have started over Jacob.
Ba James Mwebaku Chipata Zulu (My dear imbuya!!!), we (Justice, Jaggari and Uncle Bobs) can’t discard history only when it becomes a nuisance and tries to block the future like is the case in trying to force Sinkala, Sichone et al. on HR. You will notice that we are not always DINOSAURS but are SITUATIONAL(at times (Just yesterday i made an admission that the OLDIES that without doubt were more talented than bamanje, never pulled a result off Cairo competitively and were always bruised). Even at Club level my Kalampa was stung 5-1 at the same pitch by Zamalek while Power lost in the final of the Cup Winners Cup in 1982, 2-0 home and away to Arab Contractors with Mohktar Mohktar giving Ba Edwin Kanyanta a torrid time never seen before, dribbling using his hands flung in the air!!!)
If HR’s strategy doesn’t hinge on these players, then adios. In all honesty can someone tabulate how many games Sinkala has played for Zambia since 1999 when he was my favourite player against the number of games played by Zambia (I can guarantee that the percentage will be less than 20%). Someone is talking of him being a natural number 6, then why isn’t he playing in this position for his club as opposed to number 5 (since dropped to the bench). If HR decides to give them chance then let it be, but not because it is impelled on HR twakana. It’s not like we qualified to the World Cup or let alone won the AFCON with them. So what chance are we talking about? Certainly not to try to make us win what we never did before when they were at their peak? We appreciate their past services but i think ka “Law of diminishing returns” nakabekata.
By the way i just met some Al Ahly (Ahmed Hassan,Mohammed Aboutrika etc) coming from training at Movenpick Hotel just opposite my office where Al Ahly are lodging. I teased them that they will be buried in Zambia but they insist that they will beat us 2-0. Al Ahly will meet Yanga in the 2nd leg at the Gigantic 60,000 capacity.
Bane, one doesn’t necessarily have to stay in Zambia and be a Zambian Tax Payer to contribute to the National Team. Ba Justice through the money he sends back home contributes to the GDP of Zambia and assist in improving the standard of living through his relatives. There are many ways of killing a rat. But again all opinions are respected.
Good point Kalombo with regard to management. Even RB (not an endorsement,) pointed out that the biggest problem with the game in Zambia is management. Now like you said, they have the resources. They need to be prudent and ensure they maximize the resources. If we qualify for the World Cup, that alone comes with incentives. Qualification will inject the much needed cash into FAZ, and prayerfully, they will put into place programs that will strengthen the game even further and grant them the breathing room they’ll need to secure more sponsorship. I’m sure qualifying in and of itself will spur on sponsorship. If this executive will look at it from that standpoint and plan accordingly, then they will be better served.
