Chris ‘Tsunami’ Katongo broke his long goal-less drought on Friday, equalizing in the 43rd minute for Ariminia Bielefeld as they held on for a 1-1 draw away to FC Koln.

Koln dominated much of the match, with 61% posession and 16 shots at net, and opened the scoring in the 15th minute by way of Armando Petit. But an oppurtunisitc Katongo would answer back on 43 minutes, poncing on a poor back-pass to the goalkeeper, and firing the ball in from 25 yards out past the outstretched (and outpositioned) goalkeeper.
The goal was the Tsunami’s second at Bielefeld this season. His last goal was on 30 August, as he has played a more supportive role in the second striker position for much of the season.
The goal can be seen here – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rWKfq3YFhPA

This is good news. Hopefully, this is a sign of things to come. He’s been over due. Now, if they can only win a few of these games to ensure they stay in the Bundesliga.
Jaggari on Sat, 28th Feb 2009 12:43 AM
Like I’ve said before, three or four “Tsunamis” on the Zambian team and We’ll be at SA2010. He’s such an inspirational guy both on and off the field. Captain Courageous!

By the way , can anyone highlight me on the preparations we are doing for the game against Egypt in less than 30 days . Faz what is happening?
Have you scouted for a training camp in Europe or even somewhere in North Africa or are we going to wait till its two days before the game and start paniking .
Matafwali on Sat, 28th Feb 2009 1:04 AM
I just watched the goal, that was great placement on the shot! Who takes free kicks for Zambia when in a scoring position? I like what I just saw from Katongo.
Billy on Sat, 28th Feb 2009 3:13 AM
Zam UK, Zambia will only play Malawi (as usual) prior to the Egypt game. FAZ announced last week that only local and RSA based players will feature in this preparatory game. According to FAZ, it will be a bonus if any of the european based players come for this game. Thats how bad the situation is.

Ooooooh Oh Oh!!!!! Just look at that precision! CK11 ulimukali boyi! Like ba JAggari has stated, surely three or four of his kind in our national team could be just what we need to see ourselves advance even further at the SA2010 and also lift the CAN2010 in Angola.
Big up to you “Tsunami”.

Ba Justice Kafusha, paumfwika mudala. I think the boys are improving. SABC 1 just televised the match btn Zambia and Senegal (chan game). I must say that the performance by Zambia was not as bad as most bloggers put it. Maybe because they compared it to the Zambia Cote D’Voire game. This was a much better performance that the Zambia vs SA friendly where Zambia lost 1 nil last month. I see Tanzania going down this evening.
BuzzEd on Sat, 28th Feb 2009 6:30 PM
Please let’s keep the PDA’s (public display of affection) private or rather not start bootlicking each other in full view of everybody. I think we all love Zambian football despite our different opinions and that is why we all come to this blog to express our divergent views. To selectively pick a few individuals and call them “true Zambian fans,” shows disrespect and a lack of sensitivity to the rest of the bloggers who make contributions on this site. I have no problem appreciating contributions from certain individuals who seem to be like the engine of this site. However, we must be careful how we do it and remember to appreciate every blogger that comes to this site and leaves a comment because that is what makes Zamfoot. This is a community of Zambian football fans regardless of their level of commitment or knowledge of the game. We should try to avoid this kind of selectivity at all costs as tends to create a superiority complex where certain individuals start to feel like only their comments matter and the rest is garbage!

Listen also to that man Edify Hamukale, South Africa 2010 Mwaka wesu…Its a Southern Africa thing if Egypt fells to qualify even their fans will understand. We can do with another friendly and give the game against Egypt our everything. Hide and sick may not work.

Ba Mabbwana echoed my sentiments above ba Justice. I will reach out as well. I enjoy reading through the threads even when I have nothing to contribute. I am grateful to Zamfoot for giving us the forum from which not just to build from, but to share our passion for the Zambian game.

Ba Buzz Ed,
Ba Justice’s was a figure of speech and what he his hands slipped was to type ETC. Please take no offence. Just to take u back, see how Anonymous said about me (his opinion respected) but i still went to look at ways of us meeting halfway like he did (dare me to forget about personality clashes and move forward for the good of the game). I reproduce our communication below. Ba Buzz Ed, you are a great man and Ba Justice did not mean to demean you in any way.
ANONYMOUS WROTE
Uncle Bobs ‘Mulungame’ is not an English word, are you a person who is full of double standards? By ‘Mulungame’ type of game, am sure you meant direct approach, I think others put it this way: direct approach right in your face. To try that, I would try Clifford Mulenga in an advanced midfield role. Though I have always loved soccer I would not with insatiable vim and vigor go into the coaching vocation anyway, disregarding those who seem to be part of the game and the game part of them. The reading of the game, the criticism when you lose, and all that Jazz; it’s a great career though with lots of money too.
Uncleeeee you once wrote that everyone is entitled to their own opinion, that’s what I forgot to consider. You might now be more confused-unless I take you through some of your opinions on the blog-bring out one or two of yours, that’s when you may understand what I meant. But right now, the football is coming fast, we have CHAN, UEFA, FA so its time to enjoy and not go through past opinions. I agree with you Tanzania seemed immature but I would rather Senegal be the one worrying more about how unstoppable we seemed against Ivory Coast, so much so that if we can replicate that way of play, if we play the same way even their winger will abandon his role and drop into midfield to try and control our fluent and creative midfield. In the old days-you like, during the ‘dancing time’ no matter how well organized a team was, we would still score one or two more goals. Herve Renard must be trying to create a team that can be so focused on its game and which has so much ability to dwell on critically planning to adapt to the opponents strengths.
All in all that was a better display by the Chipolopolo, to give us lots of hope. God bless you all!
Uncle Bobs February 24th, 2009 at 06:44 | #81 Reply | Quote Anonymous, if you go back, i wasn’t against the use of vernacular except, i couldn’t make heads and tails of what you were. Am sure you know what figure of speech means. I still respect your opinion but i still don’t understand what you meant. Bwekeshapo boyi and note that Mayuka is invalid to play as he is a professional. Please anytime bring out my weaknesses to enable me become a better person. Glad to know that you are an avid follower of my scripts and i,ll do likewise for yours. Let’s encourage co-existence and when one goes against you, let’s take it as constructive criticism. Anonymous you are a great pal all the same and hope we could meet over a drink to share ideas for the good of the game.
