And there was no places for the quintruple of Lottie Phiri, Kondwani Mtonga, Nicholas Zulu (the trio have been dropped), Hichani Himonde (lack of match fitness-after recovering from injury) and Maunga Kabuku (injured). The five were part of the Cecafa Cup that was eliminated in the group stage early this year.
But the Frenchman has included Elijah Tana who travelled to Angola on monday and left back Emmanuel Mbola who is set to seal a three year deal with FC Pyunik of Armenia.
Zanaco striker Ignitius Lwipa finally gets the chance to play at a tournament on the international stage after he missed out on the Ghana 2008 African Cup of nations squad.
While Red Arrows’ wing twin towers duo of Lyianga Chiwanki and Judge M’kandawire have missed out together with Ghana 2008 African Cup of Nations flop Kennedy Nkhetani who was drafted in the initial squad last week, there was a place for Arrows duo of Jimmy Chisenga and Stanley Banda.
The is scheduled to fly out to West Africa next Tuesday and lock horns against host five days later. In the second match they will face Senegal before engaging neighbours Tanzania in the last group match.
Meanwhile the local lads beat National Assembly in a training match on Wednesday afternoon courtesy of a Given Singuluma strike.

–The formation looked like a diamond midfield though Mudenda was mainly placed on the left wing with Henry Banda the auxilarly midfielder behind the front two.
–Kasonde was impressive in the holding role while Njobvu was the offensive midfielder. Njobvu played like a box to box midfielder and Henry Banda a play maker.

All the best to the team though iam still baffled that players like Mankundika Sakala can get the nod over players like Judge Mkandawire & L.Chiwanki.

Zamfoot,
POINT OF CORRECTION. George Chilufya of Brave Rangers is different from the George Chilufya former Finnish professional(Ex-Kalampa and Zesco). Two seasons ago, the retried George Chilufya i last saw him on the ZESCO Technical bench. The Brave George Chilufya in the squad was impressive in the match i saw him and i am made to believe at some point had a stint in the DRC

Mr.HR. Your team selection is incomplete,i personally feel Willy chinyama was much better than your mbola.Coach time for experiments is over.Remember when we employed you,you found zambia enjoying on the FIFA ranking,it was within the tenth brackets in africa. But today in africa ranks its a shame while on the fifa ranks it is pathetic.Pliz ba faz can we start organising good friendly matches instead of only wasting time praising the unforeseen results from half baked Team mr.HR.has picked.concerned soccer fan WAKA……….

I wonder why RH is counting on Emmanuel “Roberto Carlos” Mbola because if a player sighns a pro contract he autimatically becomes ineligible to play for CHAN. I wonder whether the form of Willy Chinyama has fallen. he was one of the new finds and prospects for the future.

My heart bleeds when I think of the what is happening to our national team today. The coach, players, player selection, faz, fifa rankings,——– katwishi mwe.

Like already said, we seemed disjoint against SA. I fear the same might happen at CHAN looking at the changes made to the team ane the fact that no serious friendly has been lined up foq the team. I saw Willy Chinyama turnd inside out by the Swazi’s in Mbabane playing as right bac but apart from that, I also think he has done wel at left bac I dont kno abt his current form. Power Dynamo die hards say Francis Kasonde is currently the best in that position. Lets hop Mbola joins the team in good shape.
Uncle Bobs on Thu, 12th Feb 2009 2:08 PM
I would always favour Francis Kasonde in midfield as a holding midfielder because of his calmness, defensive mentality (being also a centre back) and good and accurate passes. His only negative may be ka speed

Yaba, this CHAN thing is going to be embarrassing. The futsal dude has made it? Oh well, all the best guys.

I want to hail coach have renard for having a crital eye when he surmoned Zanaco Defender micheal bwalya to camp in the abscence of Mbola.Micheal is one defender i always thought should be given a chance in the national team.I don’t know what others think but he is a splendid defender, his got good ball skills, pace and he is a hard tackler all qualities off a defender.Beside micheal can play even in the left and right midfield.I have seen him before.HE IS ONE FOR THE FUTURE,LIKE DENNIS SAYS”LET US WAIT AND SEE.”

There are actually two GEORGE CHILUFYAS:
1. The first one played for Nkana,ROPS in Finland and ZESCO and retired at ZESCO. Last time i heard that he could be working at ZESCO. He used to partner Martin “Dude: Bwalya at Nkana when we last won the league.
2. George Chilufya currently at Nchanga Rangers is a different one. A tough and well built central defender and one for the future.
3. Dabid Chilufya is a third and different person here and only shares a surname with the above two. And yes both 2 & 3 played for ROPS.
Uncle Bobs on Fri, 13th Feb 2009 10:22 AM
CORRECTION: Sorry under 3. it should read that “And yes 1 & 3 (not 2 & )played for ROPS in Finland i.e. David (retired) and George Chilufya (retired)
