Mayuka tastes his first silverware in Israel
Teenage sensational striker Emmanuel ‘Bomber’ Mayuka on Wednesday tasted his first success in Israel as he helped his club Maccabi Tev Aviv to a 1-0 victory in the finals of the a domestic cup, Toto Cup.(The England version of Carling Cup).
Mayuka whose lone goal in the semifinals eight days ago propelled the club to the finals started the match and played for 57th minutes before he was rested. Three minutes later, Yossi Shovihon found the back of the net and it turned out to be the the only goal of the match.
The match was played in Ramat Gan National stadium in front of 12 000 fans.
And on Monday, Mayuka completed 90 minutes in his first city derby against Haifa Maccabi. The match finished 1-1.
Still in Israel, Justine Zulu was rested and watched from the bench as his teammates battled and triumphed in the second divsion of the Toto Cup final on Wednesday night. Zulu is expected to return to the starting line-up on Friday in a crucial league match against division 2 leaders Hapoel Haifa.
Zulu’s team Hapoel Beér Sheva are second on the log and are chasing promotion to the top flight.
Tunisia
Fwayo Tembo was a surprise omission in the Etoile Du Sahel starting line-up in the quarter final of the Tunisian Cup match against Stade Tunis on Sunday. Etoile du Sahel progressed to the Semi-finals courtesy of a 1-0 win.
South Africa-Midweek games
Collins Mbesuma was un-used subsititute as Mamelodi Sundowns thrashed Maritzburg United courtesy of a Surprise Moriri hatrick though two goals came from spotkicks.
Noah Chivuta and Davies Nkausu did not make even the bench in Supersport United’s 3-0 bashing of Linos Chalwe’s Bay United. Chalwe did not feature as well.
Kalililo Kakonje is still serving a three match suspension after his red-card against Sundowns a week ago and missed Amazulu’s 3-0 win over Thanda Royal Zulu. Kampamba Chintu wasn’t involved for the Clive Barker coached side while new Thanda signee Clifford Mulenga will have to wait for the weekend to make his debut.

Yaba, our boys are not scoring. I hop Mbesuma gets bac to the starting line up coz am a little worried as to where our goals wil come from come the WC qualifiers. Thanks for the info zamfoot.
Oh, I forgot to say well done to EmmaII. Keep up the good work mwana and good things will come.
In deed its very worring to see our strikers not scoring because inthe of the day its goals which will count in the wc games especially with our record of having mathematical chances of qualifing.
However fellow traditional mourners of the former KK11 the fact each game is different should give more hope than ever.Special thanks to zamfoot for the update all i can say is together towards 2010.
I feel for you guys who are worried about the goals. You have a reason to worry. However, good for Mayuka and all the best young man.
Twalumbaba Zamfoot
Congrats to Emma.Zamfoot from what i read is that Chintu played in the 3-0 bashing of Thanda R.Hes been a fixture in the Amazulu back line.
Checked jst a bit of hilites on S.Sport 3 of the Tunisian league saw Fwayo create a goal for his team as he did a bit of magic on the left wing.
Its a little worrying that this season of the PSL really does not have a Zambian shinning above the rest. maybe I just got too used to something that cant last forever, but I really miss the Dennis Lota days of the PSL, the Chamagas getting the golden boot, the Chris Katongos who almost without a doubt will be on the score sheet, our record breaking Mbesuma.
This season sees only one real star in Clifford. Not even Noel Mwandila and peter Mutale at Winners park in Mvela seem to be holding down regular first team spots. Linos was such a live wire when Bay united were in Mvela but now even the bench seems a little tricky for him, I mean from top scorer to fighting for selection, thats a huge jump backwards.
Congrats Mayuka, I think now he is slowly moving out of the “raw” cacoon into a developed player. He might be the one to ake the difference in front of goal during our qualfying campaign.
Good for Mayuka this is what he needs to attract a bigger team and more importantly to be in good form as we start our campain for SA 2010.
thank you zamfoot for the latest information. watch out for mayuka he is dangerous.
@Sibs
fwayo has been an excellent player and he holds the future to some of our striking probs,i strongly belive the combination of cliford, fwayo, felix, chris and kalaba can be one the best in africa coz all these players mentioned are all excellent.the selection of players in zambia has been very bad,i wonder who gets to sit and select some our players.one wonders y we shud be have clive and kakonje in the team.the coach shud be allowed to do 85% of the selection.faz shud go an extra mile and provide the coach with material (internet, videos) to have acces to players in europe.it wont be a big a loss to allow hr travel to germany, finalnd, france, sweden and finland so that he gets to see how zambian players are performing.
Georgia he only needs satelite tv

Disappointed Shereni quits Warriors
Shereni in action against Algeria at the 2004 Nations Cup finals
Zimbabwe international Harlington Shereni says that he will not play again for the Warriors, after the team’s exit from World Cup qualifying.
The Warriors failed to reach the final round of qualifying for the 2010 World Cup and Africa Cup of Nations, finishing third in their group.
The 33-year-old France-based player was at the 2004 Nations Cup finals and featured in the latest campaign.
But qualifying for the 2012 Nations Cup will not begin until late in 2010, and Shereni feels that he will be too old.
“I’ll be 35 by then, and I don’t think I’ll still want to play for the national team,” Shereni told BBC Sport.
“Hopefully they’ll have groomed some youngsters in the team who can take us to the World Cup and Nations Cup.”
“I thought the Nations Cup in Angola would be end of my playing days with the national team, but now I’ll concentrate on my club.”
Shereni has been playing in France for six years, and has been loaned to Ligue Two club Strasbourg by top-flight side Nantes.
Strasbourg were relegated from Ligue 1 last season, but are currently top of the table.
“We’re hoping to go back to Ligue 1 next season, the team is like a family, we understand each other and I’m enjoying my football there,” Shereni said.
In 1999, Shereni moved from Harare club Dynamos to Swiss side Delemont.
He played for Dynamos in the African Champions League campaign that year, and he believes that the club did well to reach the semi-finals of this year’s competition.
“I’d like to congratulate them, they relied on donations for their campaign, and I never thought they’d do so well against well-managed teams with so much sponsorship,” he said.
“It’s an exciting thing to get to the semi-finals.”
Georgia Russia,
Shereni is a well known player in Zimbabwe and not Zambia, sorry!!
Good, Mayuka seems to be progressing and wish to see him somewhere around France quiet soon, hopefully.
@Infantry
makufi is in sweden, hes not playing active soccer anymore but am told hes married some muzungu just there in sweden
Good beginings for Mayuka. Hope that transfer issue has been buried now so that the lad can concentrate on making an impact. Iam sure 2010 will be interesting with the likes of Chris, Mayuka,Fwayo & Kalaba.
If Mayuka remains focused he will be one of our great products in a few years to come
