The duo are believed to have been spotted by former Nkana and national team striker Zeddy Saileti who is a coach/player at the Finish side. The 40 year old has been in the country since the end of November last year and has used his free time to lure a few players to Europe.
Though a number of players (Billy Mwanza, Luka Lungu, Laughter Chilembi and Perry Mubanga-all from Power Dynamos) were linked , it now seems the 1994 and 1996 African Cup of Nations bronze and silver medalists respectively has settled for the duo.
While Chibinga is unknown teenage to many local league followers, Simwanza is relatively known having been capped at full international level last year after a impressive displays at the heart of the defence for his parent club Young Arrows (before he joined Red Arrows this year).
Simwanza had a dreadful Chipolopolo debut in a CHAN qualifier away match against Botswana in which he scored an own goal. After that ‘mistake’ the 20 year old was dropped by the ‘interim coach’ Peter Kaumba for the return fixture. The lanky and elegant defender bounced back to the Chipolopolo set up and played every minute at the 2008 Cosafa Senior Challenge in August as a makeshift holding midfielder.
Despite some pundits earmarking him to be ‘involved’ in the clash against Togo a month later, Simwanza did not even make the final 18 as national team trainer Herve Renard opted for another emerging talent in the name of Kebby Hachipuka.
Since then, one of the best players in the 2008 Zambian premier league has been ignored by the Frenchman until this week when he was recalled back to the team which is preparing for Ivory Coast 2009 CHAN tournament together with his clubmate Lyianga Chiwanki.
CAF Club football commitments have prevented, Simwanza and the other players from Zesco United and Red Arrows to join camp as they have been preparing for return fixtures in 9 days time.
And according to RoPS official club website, Simwanza and Chibinga are expected to arrive in Finland next Tuesday in the company of RoPS’ two Zambian players Nchimunya Mweetwa and Stephen Kunda who were in the country on a break.
The other players, Chanda Mwaba and Chileshe Chibwe are scheduled to arrive this week in Rovanieni while Saileti will join them a bit later.

Zeddy you are really a true son of Zed as your name seemingly suggests. Good lucky guys go and give your all.

I don’t know how competitive the Finnish league is, but I’m sure the players stand a better chance of being noticed by the premier clubs of Europe playing in Finland than back home. All the best to all the trialists. Certainly, Saileti has to be commended for his efforts. The players have to realize, now its up to them to make the best of the opportunity.

Some fan´s opinion about Simwanza. Thank you zamfoot for the informations, but there is other opinions I am sure. How highly rated player Simwanza is in Zambia?

Thanks for the honesty Zamfoot. If more players are based in Europe maybe it will be time for Faz to take a leaf from many others books and start meeting(training) somewhere in the middle, ie in Europe, as it may make financial, logistical sense. I would think Faz has and can forge a good working relationship with countries such as Germany, Finland, Holland…
Guys, help Finnish out if you’ve watched Simwanza play.

Just to add, that so far, we’ve seen this done twice in Spain and Germany last year. If this happens again the key will be to make these foreign training camps as relevant and as productive as possible.

Finnish league is not as competitive as central European leagues etc, but it’s a good opportunity for young players. 4 teams play in Champions league / UEFA cup qualifications every year. Scouts from big clubs follow those games. Some transfers since end of last season (October 2008):
Toni Lehtinen to Levadiakos, Greece
Sakari Mattila to Udinese Calcio, Italy
Petteri Pennanen on loan to FC Twente, Netherlands
Eetu Muinonen to SV Zulte Waregem, Belgium
Tarmo Neemelo to SV Zulte Waregem, Belgium
Tomi Petrescu on loan to Ascoli Calcio, Italy
Henri Myntti to Hansa Rostock, Germany
Lucas Hradecky to Esbjerg FB, Denmark
Kheireddine Zarabi to Belenenses, Portugal
Those transfers included a transfer fee. Several players also moved to other leagues after their contracts expired.
