FOOTBALL Association of Zambia (FAZ) disciplinary committee chairman Sunday Nkonde says he will not be available for re-appointment following external interference in the running of football affairs.
Nkonde said in a letter addressed to FAZ general secretary George Kasengele, obtained by the Daily Mail in Lusaka yesterday that he could no longer stomach the unnecessary interference in the internal affairs of FAZ.
He, however, did not state who was interfering in the running of FAZ.
“Of course, I appreciate that others may have a different opinion on the issue. But to me what is happening is simply unjustified and unacceptable and, I am afraid, I do not believe that this is how football affairs should be run and I do not want to be part of this ‘circus.’
“I wish to make it clear that I am not obsolving anybody of anything done or omitted to be done in the conduct of football affairs. What I refuse to accept is the unwarranted outside interference in the running of football affairs,” Nkonde said.
He said most of the Lawyers he enticed to be involved in football administration were reluctant to come on board because of “mud throwing.”
“In fact, I am in good position to state that most Lawyers who I have tried to entice to be involved in football administration show reluctance citing the argument that football administration in Zambia is generally viewed as a game of ‘mud throwing’ and these Lawyers value their integrity more than anything else. Who can fault them?” Nkonde asked.
The former Solicitor General said it was sad that instead of stakeholders pre occupying themselves with the impact of the global financial crisis on sport in Zambia and mitigation measures that could be employed they were concentrating on non issues.
“The ever falling football standards and the deplorable state of football infrastructure in our country whereby we can’t boast of a national stadium at the moment, when countries such as Uganda and Rwanda that have come from war situations have excellent stadia.
“We are busy having our priorities totally misplaced. I trust that I have made my position very clear,” Nkonde said. [Daily Mail]

i have said time and again, kalu is not proffessional in his admin. these are the ofsprings of his mismanagement. we need to overhaul FAZ. bring in people in the class of Hanif Adams

I agree with you levy, football administartion/management is ust not for all and clearly our current FAZ administration is just taking us down the drain even further. There are people who will always have blind loyalty to Kalu because of who he is. they just wont open their eyes to the reality of his inability to run football from the office. what we need is managers to manage our soccer afairs and not footballers.

Sports management has moved to a whole new level and it is not just for anyone. Just like banking, you need some qualification to effectively manage your work. FAZ is full of people, who either have just been players or are linked to Kalu. People like Julius Chiluba can not manage football at the new level if they are failing to improve their management skills. In future, for someone to stand in FAZ, they should have a proven record, both work experince and academically.

Ba Nkole should know better that FAZ is a public office and the citizens can say what they want. I am paying tax to pay his salary then I deserve to have a say. All Zambians are shareholders and should have a sy if things are going wrong. Please keep your lawyer friends out, we need serious people who are ready to bring change. We are the list one of the list developed country in football compared to Rwanda, Tanzania and Zimbabwe. Wake up ba Nkole, no more time wasters.

Are the comments above not a reflection of what Nkole is talking about. Busy criticising and making issues of non-issues instead of concentrating on things that matter.
We will never develop as Zambians for as long as this attitude of bringing others down persists. Zambians generally thrive on negativity, complaining and condemning. There are very few Zambians that speak highly of their country. It’s always comparing ourselves to other countries in a negative way. Our neighbours south of the border(including the dilapidated Zimboys) particularly are so damn proud of who they are and of their countries. Mu chinge guys mwe!!! This is not helping anyone at all.
What are politicians doing instigating unproductive witch hunts instead of doing their job of building infrastructure and developing workable policies?

DA MWINGER NAILED IT. WE LUV TO PULL DOWN. IT SEEMS TO BE A VERY INFECTIOUS DESEASE. DA MWINGER IS THE ONLY BLOGGER WHO HAS BEEN OBJECTIVE. ONE OF THE BLOGGERS HERE SAID THAT HE HAS A RIGHT TO CRITICISE NKOLE BUT WHAT HE FAILS TO UNDERSTAND THAT THE ONLY PAID POST IN FAZ IS THAT OF GENERAL SECRETARY. NKOLE IS BEING PATRIOT BY VOULUNTEERING HIS TIME. MANY ON THIS BLOG WANT KALU TO FAIL. IT WON’T HELP US AT ALL. WE NEED TO HEAR FACTS BEFORE JUMPING TO CONCLUSION. GOD HELP US!!!!

Soko and Chuma, why should people be proud of being in a mess. The other bloggers are trying to highlight some of the challenges and thats a fact. If you have a better way of doing it then you should give us some ideas. Rwanda was at war a few years ago and yet they have one of the best youth program on the continent. Tanzania has a well organised league and one of the best stadias. If I see my neigbour progressing then I should ask myself why not me. We have to work hard and admin one key ingridient. We have so many qualified sports administrators working outside the country and we can make use of them.
