Mayuka propels Maccabi to Cup final

mayuka-macabi

Zambia’s export to Israel Emmanuel Mayuka on Wednesday night propelled his club Maccabi Tev Aviv to the finals of the Toto Cup as he scored the only goal of the match.

The Zambian teen striker had two shots on target and was voted man of the match.

Maccabi Tev Aviv will face MS Ashdod in next Wednesday’s final.

Since making his switch to Israel this was the wonder boy’s 9th senior appearance in addition to 5 reserve appearances he made.

This guy is going to go far. I’m tired of Zambian clubs trying to make a quick buck by aiming to send under prepared players straight to the top leagues. FAZ acted in the boy’s best interests. Where do you think Yakubu came from?

Congrats mayuka keep it up. Its sad for 300 workers from GTV who lost their jobs after it is closed. We will surely miss alot of football. Anyone with details behind the closure.

I think we haven’t thrown the notes on the drawing board

Plotting how to beat Egypt, Egypt will use some locally based players; those cannot have an upper psychological makeup against our South African based players indeed better for our Mayuka now indulging in some Jewish pomp in Israel. No segregation in sports though, Fwayo Tembo is equally in a better league in Tunisia; so perhaps its better to just say the boy now has he’s eyes on the ball. He should also keep his eyes on the bigger money in England or even Germany like Chris katongo knows it. I cant wait to see a Zambian playing at the same level as Stephen Pinnar (Everton) or Benni Mcarthy (Porto and now Blackburn). Am sure those boys once used to look up to the likes of Kalu playing for PSV Eindhoven and getting African footballer of the year. Dr Khumalo needed a kalu jersey in his memorabilia collection. I remember watching him asking for it. That’s the respect one may chose to give him and don’t mistake me many Zambians have it, that’s why he is now the FAZ president.

Not too long ago we were crying about luck of capability to send players outside and we blamed it on the players who go out to say they don’t pull their friends up. Yesterday Kalu was lamenting saying that “we have sent the likes of the Katongo’s and Rainford Kalaba without much fuss. Is it the same connection that helped Joel Bwalya go to Europe (Joel gave us a Bronze medal in South Africa). How I wish the likes of Charles Musonda can use their connections to pull one or two players out of the situation apart from just he’s children at Anderlecht. That’s why Kalu has 100 caps for Zambia, he’s different, and he’s a pick performer and an achiever too. He also never gave into pressure on the free kick at independence stadium. Keeping plotting Kalu, we may just go to our first world cup.

My take is that more players should go, if that’s the problem we identified on our last ‘drawing board’. Am sure you know the drawing board!

Kabwe Warriors must take courage now; there is lots of talent lying around for which we needed Mayuka to make space. And clubs should study a bit on sports contracts, even with individual players, to maximize their benefits.

    Cease fire now!!!

Gentlemen i have been following U-20 African soccer championships, and i was keen to learn from the commentries whether the young boys in the other teams are plying their trade in Europe, right on that is the case. What is with us then with thie Mayuka saga, because people where busy interepreting the FAZ statute on Q FM’s soccer chat; specifically Simaata Simaata was saying Mayuka should not have gone anywhere, one point ownestly, most players come from very poor homes if only to take the plight of the players in this country into account. The other thing People of love, i think there is need to be caucious with people like Simaata-is he not the one who has been pushing warriors to store on the matter creating negative publicity about Kalusha Bwalya and FAZ. Am concerned that that man can instigate xenophobia with that hatred he habours, i hope its only for Kalusha Bwalya.

  • Vincent Numbwa wrote on 2 February, 2009, 8:13

Congrates Mayuka. It is a pity though that people do not seem to appreciate that FAZ did you a great favour to release you from tha jaws of selfish warriors.

    Ba Baba,
I was in Zambia and actiually was on the programme at QFM. From what i heard and what my colleague Nkweto Ntembwe said, please let’s embrace a reading culture. People like the same Simataaa you are talking about was actually just quoting what the FIFA statute says, while people like you look at personalities and get hysterical when one you think is right is on the receiving end. Mayuka’s mother called into the programme and said Warriors were involved right from the start (wondering how Simataa would have influenced) and said she did not sight the ITC and has never even been to FAZ House. So let this matter be determined by FIFA and NSCZ.

During my visit to Zambia, i attended the FAZ press conference and put forward to the FAZ President the brilliant ideas that i keep seeing on this blog. Sooner or later, we want these ideas turned into money and i just hope people from this BLOG won’t chicken out when it’s time to contribute money albeit voluntary. The FAZ guys liked the ideas i put forth and the Treasurer and Media Officer got my contact and i,ll be a servant for FAZ. I actually told the FAZ President to accept criticism that should only be resolved and strengths reinforced.

I also met the Minister of Sport Hon. Chipungu and shared ideas with him and he liked the innovative ideas-i urged him to be checking on this blog. I found him to be forward looking and readily accessible. I also had the opportunity of meeting Simataa and attended his training session and discussed with him on the possibility of forging better relationship among the soccer fraternity. Incidentally, he had met Kalu and opened up (for those that SS and not armchair critics, he’s always for the truth even if it means sacrificing friendship but for the good of all). My feeling is that Kalu’s inner circle are the ones fanning trouble with Simataa as you can imagine, FAZ staff are taken to task even when he just greets/talks to them. Word of advice-EQUIP YOURSELF WITH KNOWLEDGE TO FAULT SIMATAA as the man is very well read and doesn’t myopically talk. So DOOMSAYERS, you will have nothing to talk about when some of us that want soccer development kill personality attacks!

As for Mayuka, i wish this same interest will be there to see what the kid makes out of future by way of investments seeing as in most of us are just interested in selling players and don’t follow through these players’ career paths. Ba Spaks and I through our Sports Consultancy are looking at this. WATCH THIS SPACE

Uncle Bobs great stuff. We need as Zedians to work together for the best of our Nation. For Mayuka it would be very sad now to have the boys contract cancelled. The boy would be crushed, yes the could be someone who played around this contract issue but we need to see the bigger picture here.

Out of this mess we can learn better & not let Faz or a club make the same mistake.

You know I personally like Simataa especially that he is a very good analyst being on football or financial matters. But at times he can be vengeful and behaves like one who has not even reached university level. It seems the man has a bone to chew with Kalu.

  • Uncle Bobs wrote on 3 February, 2009, 10:04

    Ba Never,
Believe you me, i am that has always advised Simataa on issues that i felt he went overboard. He is actually a very willing listener. Besides, him, Kalu, you and I are just human and have weaknesses. Weaknesses are best resolved and strengths re-inforced.

In as much as Simataa may be vengeful, he’s also one of the most humane people as he always takes soccer beyond. For example one of the current FAZ Executive members had no place to live in when he was relieved or resigned his last job, and it was Simataa that offered one of his unfinished plots for shelter. It was Simataa that used to bail out most Nkana players during the hey days and advised them on how to invest. It was Simataa that introduced the current pre-match ticket sales though most FAZ members were against at the time. It is Simataa that has employed one former Nkana great ex-goalie,and Marko in his consultancy firm. It is Simataa that found employment for former City players like George Kapembwa, Gerald Sakala, etc. It is Simataa that was delegation leader when Zambia reached the AFCON Cup Final when the current FAZ Top Brass were still players. It was Simataa that still dealt with Chanda Bwalya and the boy’s parents when the former professional player from City to Portugal had a suspected mental problem. It was Simataa that botched the greed of the former Konkola official (now banned for life) over the Dennis Lota transfer saga. It was Simataa that once used his personal money to bail out the national team after a shambolic AFCON outing. It is Simataa that sponsors a football team of young boys from his own pocket. It is Simataa that most people even some that once openly and publicly insulted him like Ronald Chinku run to after being used by people they hero-worship but later dump them. It is Simataa that most Football Administrators (including current ones), press-men and women run to for interpretation of sports laws (especially soccer).

Ba Never, i’ll give him feedback on your mail. But i would urge you to interact with the guy. Quite frankly, i also extremely disliked the guy until i interacted with him. He’s just not a likeable person on face value as he does what most of us Zambians dont like (FORTHRIGHTNESS!). If you go against the law, he just doesn’t spare you. Otherwise we deserve the right to respect others’ opinions
