The Football Association of Zambia -FAZ- says it will find money to continue paying national team head coach, Herve Renard’s salary until the end of his three year contract.
FAZ spokesperson, Emmanuel Munaile, says FAZ will find a way of paying Renard until his contract expires.
Munalie who is also FAZ vice president told ZNBC Sports in Lusaka that terminating Renard’s contract will not be in the best interest of the country.
He said the move will be costly.
Konkola Copper Mines which has been paying Renard’s monthly salary has stopped citing financial constraints.
Last week Sports minister, Kenneth Chipungu indicated that government has no money to pay Ranard his monthly salary.
Joseph Chimpampwe (Kalampa fan): We ‘ve to raise our bar from blind loyalists (Fans) to realists
Guys,
This has been the most objective commentary and i am happy that we are raising our bar from blind loyalists to realists. FAZ need to engage us more by being transparent in their dealings. Some of us are ready and willing to sacrifice the little we have. For starters, FAZ could in January 2009 engage the services of a reputable organisation say and Audit Firm where people like on this forum could pay in advance say ZMK1m (VIP), ZMK500k(Grandstand) and ZMK250k (Gate D like!) as advance payments to enable us watch all International games and League matches.
Take advantage of Kalu’s icon status for marketing
Once this base is established, FAZ could vigorously go into the replica shirts venture; the Great (Kalusha Bwalya) could have a collection of all his great games on DVD and get a share of proceedings (no free lunch so his name shouldn’t be used in vein) and similarly Charles ‘Charlie Cool’ Musonda, Stone Nyirenda, Johnson ‘one man commando’ Bwalya etc.
We could also go into a venture with say Ster Kinekor (sp) where past Chipolopolo games can be shown more like we see movies. Guys the list is endless and money is easy to make only with entrepreneurial minds.
Forget about these people as they will always justify their actions!
Kojo umwina n’gumbo: Comrades, see what you can do
Imagine all the people who have gotten something from their communities giving back. I mean all graduates of schools buying at least a desk, glass pane, or box of chalk each. I tell you the world would be a better place to live in. Its things like these that encourage and challenge me. Lets all be challenged. Comrades working abroad, as you come for leave, visit your school, local Football club, clinic and see what you can do.
Justice Kafusha (in Denmark) : Contributions towards preparations for Afcon & SA 2010
Sometime back I made a suggestion that we soccer fans lead by example by making contributions towards the teams preparations for AFCON/SA2010. We can do this in our way that is we can ask Zamfoot, whom we all trust to open an account at one of the banks in zed and then we can send our contributions to this account.
The money will not be handed direct to FAZ but we shall someone at Zamfoot to be responsible for footing some of the bills in relation to how much we can raise. If we for example can contribute say 100, 0000 kwacha or 200, 000 kwacha each that could be ok. 100,000 kwacha and if say 10 people pay that will be already 1,000.000 kwacha.
So if we can get 100 people to contribute we easily come up with 10,000,000 and that could be a big job. So guy let us get together and do something, not just talking like ba FAZ and so on. Let us show what we can do for our team. I think even the business houses will feel ashamed and as such will get on board
I am sure we are more than 10,000 true fans of zed soccer. Awaiting your response

I like all your suggestions you fellow patriots(Justice,Joseph and the comred). No one will realy develop our zambia but ourselves. There zedians who want to contribute to the development of this country but they are held back buy they high level of misuse of funds in almost all structures of the economy. We give credit to our fellow zambians who are doing everything at their desposal to raise the starndards of our game.Lets help the likes of the Great kalu and his team though there could be some bad “eggs” in their midst.UNITED WE STAND ,DIVIDED WE FALL

I think the problem is that FAZ seems to be so dependent on donors and the government for funding. Question is, what is FAZ doing businesswise to raise funds? Why can’t FAZ have their own business ventures and make their ‘own’ money than depending on hand outs? For example FAZ could get on lease some luxurious Marcopolo buses (if Mbesuma has – from the grapevine-why cant faz have????). Name these buses Chipolopolo carriers and put them on the road. Do you honestly think they can fail to finance the lease and pay off the coach? This is just an example of so many ventures that FAZ could get into and raise funds, than depending on others who pull out any time they feel like!
By the way..KCM is just showing their true colors. They were never interested in sports from the onset. All they wanted was to win favors from the government when they just came in the country. This is just the beginning…I hope FAZ has plan B for the premier league sponsorship!!!

Ba Wille, KCM just look at the clubs they sponsor, I have no words. We just have to do something as fans and something is already in the pipeline. It is a question of working together. Forget KCM

Hey nice to see that old photo of Kalu & Charlie cool.Ba Wille well said big man its true its time we started putting our heads together & move ourselves to another level. The other day I was watching the WOZA 2010 programme on DSTV and I admired how our friends in RSA are working hard to ensure that they host a succesful world cup.We are not financialy stable like them but we need to learn things like innovation, determination & the zeal to have things done from our brothers & sisters from RSA who to me deserves a pat on their backs for the way they have done things so far.

People don’t need to contribute money, there is a high probability that the same would happen. This is the result of depending on someone to do your job. How many people will be willing to part $100 a month for renards salary and what happens if Zambia loose a match? It’s a difficult job to do.
There are a number of ways FAZ can raise money for the association and it will take sacrifice and money to set them up.
1. FAZ can set up a museum of the history of the game, players etc.
2. Thet can set up sports shops where they sell europeans and zambian sports products.
3. Promotions
4. Fundraising dinner/lunch with the former nation players and current team
5. Make a deal with a national team sponsor
6. organising more friendly matches were they share the gate takings.
7. exhibition games
FAZ can be raising about $1m/year if they were more creative.

The Gov is always complaining about funds!.Im now starting to believe that,it is the most brocke Government on earth.Even their so called Investors (KCM) cant honour a pledge they have been singing about. What is $10 000 after all the cash they make out of copper in a month?.Lets take back our Mines,Im sure Zambians can manage them better than what we get from these foreigners.
