Ghana’s local Black Stars have been named as one of the two seeds for the draw of the maiden edition of the African Nations Championship (Chan).
The draw for the competition, designed exclusively for local based players, will take place on Friday, December 26 in Abidjan, Ivory Coast.
According to information gathered by GNA Sports from the headquarters of the continent’s soccer governing body, Confederation of African Football (Caf) indicates that Ghana and Ivory Coast have been seeded for the draw.
Ivory Coast were named automatic seeds as hosts, while Ghana was considered by virtue of being the highest ranked African team in the Fifa rankings among the countries that qualified.
The Stars are ranked 25th according to the latest Fifa rankings released last week.
The other qualified teams made up Libya, Senegal, DR Congo, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe are all ranked below the Stars.

West Africa: Ivory Coast, Senegal & Ghana
North Africa: Libya
Southern Africa: Zambia & Zimbabwe
East Africa: Tanzania
Central Africa: DR Congo
***Egypt did not take part in the qualifiers. Ivory Coast will be hosting the inaugral tournament.
The Stars are to be housed in Group B and will be based in Bouake, the country’s second largest whilst Group A teams will pitch their camps in Abidjan, the national capital.
The GNA source added that Zambia and Zimbabwe will be drawn in separate zones because they are both from the Southern Zone.

Am happy that we are rated below,this will make te guys realise their task of making zambia on the world map now.I will be very happy if we shall face strong teams like Ghana so that they will ealise that zambia can perform wonders aswell.All the best to my lovely country zambia.Merry xmas ba zed
