Kalampa relegated

December 8, 2008

A record 11 times Zambian league Champions Nkana fc has been officially relegated to division one North following the Football Association of Zambia’s Disciplinary Committee’s decision to award Nkwazi maximum points.click here to view the league table

In a rescheduled league match played at Lusaka’ s Edwin Imboela Stadium, the match was abandoned in injury time after Nkana supporters stormed the pitch protesting referee Wellington Kaoma’s decision to award the police outfit a penalty with the score line tied at 1-1.

This led to the match to be abandoned. After Saturday’s disciplinary hearing chaired by Lusaka lawyer Sunday Nkonde, the FAZ DC resolved to award the three points to Nkwazi and that has left Kalampa with 30 points. With a one round of matches to go, Kalampa and league debutant, Green Eagles (27) have been chopped to the lower ranks while Nkwazi (32) and Nchanga Rangers(32) have a slim chance of survive.

The Wusakile Boys were first relegated in 2004 and struggled to return to the top flight until last season when they won promotion. The Zambian glamour side’s demotion is a set back in the nation’s quest to rekindle interest in local soccer and reversing the trend of associating with foreign teams at the expense of the local games.

In the 2008 season, whenever Kalampa was in town, the hosting teams benefited from gate takings as the stadia were filled to capacity due to the Kitwe giants’ large following.

From Division one South, Choma Eagles and Nakambala have been promoted while Forest Rangers and Zamtel social joins from the Northen region. Legendary Mufulira Wanderers again failed to win promotion. The nine

Now it will be extremely difficult for Nkana FC to bounce back in the super division. I am not being negative as Nkana has been my team since my childhood days. Life in the lower division is proving to be difficult now. Look at “mighty” Mufulira Wanderers. They are still swimming in there. These are the repercussions for bad behaviour. Too bad for the once Red Devils.
I watched Mbesuma yesterday when his team Sundowns played Moroka Swallows. He came in as substitute in the 70th minute. I cant blame him for his performance, as the whole team’s performance was below par. Having said that, I think he doesnt look like the Mbesuma I used to see at Chiefs. I end here.

Too Bad for Nkana. Hope they will get back soon. This must be very sad for the Nkana fans but a lesson as well to the Nkana fans so that next the should be disciplined because the referee is the one who makes the rules in a game no matter how bias he is. Anyway hard luck thats wat the game is all about.

Since we do not have Video evidence here in Zambia,FAZ should be very careful on how to deal with matters of this nature. The Referee also, should know that,in a game of that seriousness, the needed a sober head on how to handle that match.

AMUNA ONZUNA has a point here.FAZ need to be carefull in the way they handle such cases b’coz we do have the facilities to tell who was wrong. It may be the referee(who are also culprits in the way they officiate),the players or the fans etc so when punishing, such things must be considered. However this must be a wake up call for the indeciplined Kalampa fans & like what BIG STEVE has said, this is truely a lesson that decipline has no substitute.Nkana will never retain its status if fans continue with their riotus behaviour. Its time Kalampa fans contributed positively to the re-building of this great club otherwise this can mark the end of the RED DEVILS.

Nkana 4 life! We will win promotion to the ZPL thats were we belong. I really wish we could learn from past lessions on discpline it has gotten the better of us in the recent years.

Referees should not pass questionable decisions in crucial games as it is a recipe for football hooligansm. I still feel Nkana acted better to just adandon the game than to become violent as the case had been in the recent past.

Kalampa lets get back to the drawing board and see where we had it wrong and come back with a bang

Bye bye Kalampa. Thanks for your contribution to ZPL football. Hope to see you back soon in top flight football. Dont stay there forever.

Indeed, tuff luck for Nkana Red Devils. I hope they go away and come back much stronger. I think the decision is fair as no matter how unfair it seemed at the time, of course the league cannot condone such behavior, once a referee gives a penalty all you can do is hope to save it and get your justice and vindication that way. Such is the game.

This season has been great because of Power and Nkana, it’s a sign that there is life in returning Zambia back to where it should be as the two are historically linked to Zambian success. Now that Nkana has had a taste to remind itself, we will be waiting for when they want much more.

Who is running nkana? If there are zambian businesses who cannot spend extra money like real madrid to recoup money later, then forget. It is about risks and the more you risk the more the return. What have the owners invested and risked?

I grew up in chamboli where ichimpombwa was the thing.

Nkana need serious pipo and do not blame referees. We all watch premiership and have seen some teams seemily favoured. You cannot dwell over that 4 ever!

    Awe bwafya sana!

  16. BA KALAMPA on Tue, 9th Dec 2008 1:48 PM

Hard luck to zambia’s most glamourous side. When we thought the premier was going back to the good old days and the Kalampa’s are back to the lower ranks.I can’t wait to see Mighty vs Nkana or Brave Rangers on a sunday afternoon. It is not the end of the world, you can still come back in 2010 when we return from Angola to participate with the physical trainers.
My advise is maintain the same youthful players,we shall always troop in thousands.A chance for the cash strapped division one teams to make some money.I definitely cannot watch Power Dynamos vs Choma Eagles.
UMWANA WA NSOKA NI NSOKA.KALAMPA 4 LIFE.

Nkana got wind off with jabes mvula and chibungo and the rest is history. These sucrificed.Companies who used to run some of these teams was all about corporate responsibility. What about the pipo running nkana? My eyes are streaming
and breamful of tears.Nkana you have shamed potential supporters like dazo who invested your support in you.We love u dazo!
