Zambia takes on Angola…as under-20 date Seycelles

Zambia resumes it’s quest to qualify for the inaugural CAF African Cup of Nations which will be held in ivory coast. In the first leg the Chipolopolo Boys is away and will be facing neighbours Angola on Saturday afternoon.

This weekend’s encounter will be Herve Renard’s first Chan qualifying match in-charge. In goal the French born coach is expected to start with Jacob Banda. At the heart of the defence, rookie defender Hichani Himonde is set to continue his partnership with Elijah Tana. Having spent two seasons at Angolan giants Petro Athletico, Tana’s experience will be vital in this show down against the physical Palancas Negras.

In midfield, William Njobvu and Kebby Hachipuka will be instructed to anchor the engine room. Jonas Sakuwaha’s pace and Kennedy Mudenda’s tricky footwork down the flanks will offer the Chipolopolo Boys an extra dimension to their attacking options.

Zesco United’s Lottie Phiri is expected to occupy the ‘hole’ or just behind Given Singuluma.

Meanwhile the under-20 will open their Cosafa under-20 tourney against Seycelles this Saturday in South Africa.

Good luck to the young men. I wish them all the best.

Do any of you out there think the task for the CHAN qualifiers should have been left to the local guys? Just trying to think of ways to keep these guys (local coaches) developing.

Chris Katongo’s club were this afternoon beaten 2-0 by promotional side Hoffenheim who maintain their Budesliga top slot. Their Bosnian striker who is the leading topmarksman in Germany has so far scored 16 goals in 14 league games excluding todays game. He equals the record set by Ghanian Antony Yeboah. 16 goals in 14 games in Germany, they will soon break his legs like they did to Toni Yeboah. This fantastic, maybe he can break Gerld Mullers record of 40 goals a season while play

Mulenga and his club lost by the same margin away to Brest last nite

HIF will not offer Kola a conatrct as he could have problems making it into the first team. I had sent an e-mail to my contact at the club and this confirmed

Muller played for Munich or Munchen and scored 40 league and I repeat league goals in 34 Budesliga games, sine then no one has scored more than 20.
