Zambia’s premier soccer gossip & rumour mills…It’s simply Kachepa!
No out and out striker in the under-20
There was no place for out and out striker in the new look Zambia Under-20 which left on Wednesday for the Cosafa under-20 set to start today in Kemberly, South Africa. In an 18-man team, the technical bench led by Oswald Mutapa Jr will be relying on diminutive Morgan Kaoma.
New look young guns will face Seycelles in the opening match tomorrow. Zambia will also lock horns with arcg-rivals South Africa’s Amajita as well as Lesotho.
Kaoma who has two international caps has been mainly used on the right flank by City of Lusaka this season. From this week’s training session at Sunset Stadium, Mutapa Jr is banking on the exploits of his wingers to propel the junior Chipolopolo Boys to the title. Zesco United duo John Ching’andu and Innnocent Mwaba, Paramilitary’s Mwepya Kasongo and fit-again Banda ‘Thierry’ Henry are all expected to rise to the occasion to provide the goals.
Young Arrows’ reserve striker Saint Nkhoma is the other option but he is also not a target man.
Banda ‘Thierry’ Henry. He is Zambia’s most prized weapon at the tourney. He has three international caps to his name.
Renard is a Gunner!!
Chipolopolo Boys trainer Herve Renard has reviewed that he supports Arsenal in the English Premier League…..French connections!
“I support Arsenal though we are not doing well but its great club,” he said
In France my team is Paris Saint German (PSG). PSG hasn’t been doing well in the previous seasons but I think they are now showing signs of improving this season.”
Renard also claims that he doesn’t read Zambian tabloids because he doesn’t want to confuse his opinion and views what he thinks is right for the team.
“I understand (twisting or spicing stories) your job (journalists) and that’s why I don’t read newspapers because I might end up being confused about the best for the team.”
Felix Sunzu Jr going back to Tunisia in a swap deal?.. With whom?
International striker Felix Sunzu is heading back to Tunisia to start over with AS Marsa. Despite his ‘contract being terminated’ at the end of the Tunisian Super league season in May, the 23 year old striker has accepted to rejoin the club in a ‘swap deal involving’ his young brother Stophira Sunzu.
L-R: Elijah Tana, Felix Sunzu Jr and Francis Kombe in a training session at Bank of Zambia Complex prior to this year’s Cosafa Senior Challenge.
According to Kachepa gathered by the Zamfoot crew, after the Tunisian side head that Stophira Sunzu has clinched a one year loan switch to French ligue 2 Berrichonne Chateauroux, AS Marsa wrote to FIFA claiming that the 19 year old was their player.
And for this, Chateauroux put the deal on hold as the parties involved; FAZ, Tunisian FA, FIFA and the two clubs; AS Marsa and Afrisports looked for a solution.
With the parties failing to reach an agreement and things looking that Stophira was about to lose out on the chance to play in Europe, Felix Jr brought himself up to be used as a ‘bargaining tool’ though he never wished to go back to AS Marsa.
Early this year, the Sunzu brothers sneaked out of the country when Ivory Coast agent calling himself Mamadou took them to Tunisia. After unhappy stay in Tunisia, Stophira was the first one to quit the Tunisian side and came back in March while his brother remained behind.
Sinkala snubbing Chipolopolo recall?
Germany based midfielder Andrew Sinkala is believed to have told close friends that he is not ready to play under Herve Renard after what the Frenchman said about him in one of the tabloids recently.
“When the coach took over, Sinkala thought this was his time to give back to the national team and the fans. He even travelled from his training base in Germany to visit the national team when they were in Germany before the Togo match but the lad was ignored,” the source said.
After knowing the truth about the FC Augsburg player’s continued forced international exile, Renard requested FAZ to summon the 29 year old as replacement for Isaac Chansa in the squad which faced Morocco on November 19 but it is believed FAZ failed to make contact with the midfield maestro.
Renard who confirmed on Tuesday that he is courting the services of Sinkala also retaliated his wish to have one of Zambia’s most experienced players playing competitive football on Thursday.
“I think it’s high time the professionals realised that they have to give back to the country now,” Renard said
Kola injured in Sweden?
International striker Rodger Kola is believed to be nursing an ankle injury in Sweden where he is attending trials at Isaac Chansa’s Helsingoborg.
According to reports from Sweden, the 19 year old is on the verge of sealing a deal with the Swedish giants.

Another transfer Saga on the hands of FAZ. Its important that we ssort out these transfer problems involving our players coz we cant continue on this path.
Now Sinkala is snubbing the call up. HR should take time to talk to him personally since he is at the centre of this. But Sinkala, c’mon man. You are not palying fo HR but for Zed. We pushed for you now you are in and we need you to come in, dont close yourself out.

The AS Marsa & the Sunzu brothers deal sounds very strange. Why didn’t they claim Stophira when he came back home?.Anyway good initiative by Felix. The issue of Sinkala snubbing the call up should be blamed on FAZ.Why are they keeping quite on the matter?.It appears HR is using his personal efforts to contact the player when people at FAZ who are supposed to do that are just watching.HR has shown interest in Sinkala so FAZ should make an official statement & write to Sinkala so that he is officially told.Entertaining rumours without clearing the air is a serious sign of poor management. All the best to Kola am keeping my fingers clossed maybe the chap will clinch this one.

We are so quick to point fingers, aren’t we?How do we know that it’s FAZ’s fault on the transfer saga and on Sinkala not coming for the Morocco game? What if he just didn’t answer his phone or respond to correspondence? I think the important thing is that the coach has said he has considered him which is a big plus given the issues surrounding him. Remember Kachepa is what it says it is-rumours-nothing concrete.
I also agree with SONG that we should focus on preparations and not overshadow this with the same old Sinkala inclusion.
Mphatso on Fri, 28th Nov 2008 1:38 PM
I like Songs analysis, the sinkala issue should not overshadow our preparations. Indeed in 1994 we did not focus on unavailable stars like Charles Musonda, yet we perfomed wonders. I am one of those who have added a voice to have Sinkala recalled. And now HR has considered him, and sinkala is not interested, so? I would say good riddance…lets move on guys, and use the available talent and end the Sinkala story.

Another transfer issue and Kalu still thinks he has the capacity to be one of Africas football leaders. I am wondering if at all there is any transfer that happens were FAZ’s involvement has nothing dodgy attached.
Cant blame Sinkala but he should not forget that HR is not the person he is doing it for. After all the shouting we have done he cant just pull out, that will make certian people standup and justify why they did not include him in the first place. Dont go down the childish lane like HR did with his fake story about you Sinks.
Kola injured in training. By the amount of time he has been with the club it looks like they may just give him a shot, maybe they want to hold onto him till Jjanuary and then get him cheap who knows!
Song my man, lets be real. We do not have players of Sinkala and Sichones calibre in the current team. its funny how Benni Mcarthy no matter what gets a call up, you know why, there is no striker of his calibre and all the coaches know this. we have players butto be honest an extreme few at the moment can play at the highest level (world cup). Tthe skill is there but the mental capacity and mental strength required at this level only a handfull have it. So lets not be quick and say we are tired of the seasoned pro’s cause then what!!
We are all tired but those of us who understand the game well rrealise we cannot do without.

SONG,the 1994 team that you are talking about perfomed well b’coz it comprised of experienced & mature players like Great Kalu,Kapambwe Mulenga, the Malitolis,Johnson Bwalya,Chiyangi,Sichikolo,James Phiri,Wawa Chongo,Linos Makwaza,Tenant Chilumba etc.I agree that was a 2nd string team from the Gabon tragedy but we must not forget that we had a large resevour that could even make 4 teams in the KK11 days. For your infor Kalu, Johnson,Kapambwe & Makwaza were playing their third AFCON in 1994,Bubble Malitoli was playing his second. The likes of Chilumba,Sichikolo,Chiyangi,Chongo,Evans Sakala,James Phiri etc were seasoned stars in the then strong ZPL with others having massive experience in CAF tourneys.Surely can you compare that team to what we have now??.DaMwiinger we are not quick to point fingers. The thing is FAZ are mandated to run our football affairs in the country. Therefore all football queries should be addresed to them just like we channel all Water problems to Lusaka Water.Thats how it goes Mudala!!
DaMwiinger on Fri, 28th Nov 2008 4:36 PM
Dinamo, the default reaction for something going wrong (particularly amongst most Zambians) is to find someone to BLAME. There is a difference between querying something and blaming (which is what some people are doing). For example, people will be complaining about what government does or is not doing yet they will not go and vote. I don’t ascribe to that kind of approach. I find it retrogressive and devoid of a desire to really find a solution to the problem.
Actually, thinking of it, it may be just as well if Sinkala has indeed snubbed the call. I would probably do the same given the circumstances. We have praised his capabilities to the extent of suggesting that he could single-handedly win it for us. What if he is off-form when he actually features? Can you think of what that would do to him? Those who didn’t want him in the team in the first place will have a field day and some people who have been advocating for his inclusion will be saying “ana sila”.
Seen from afar on Fri, 28th Nov 2008 5:38 PM
He should play no questions asked. Mabbwanna has put it very well. He has to think beyond his own pride. It will just be a trial to see, and it would take something very special for him to be given the starting place in the high stakes game. It’s important to find out the possiblilities and not just be waiting to fail.
McBush-USA on Fri, 28th Nov 2008 7:55 PM
Shame on FAZ’s trasfer saga. Hope Sinkala thinks twice abt his decision and feature for Zed.
