Three players have been ruled out of tonight’s friendly encounter against Morocco in Casablanca. French based striker Jacob Mulenga of ligue 1 side Chateauroux, goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene of South Africa PSL side Free State Stars and under-20 striker Fwayo Tembo after they all failed to make the trip to the North African country.
Jacob is in rich vein form after notching five goals in four consecutive matches.
European based duo of Christopher Katongo of Germany side Arminia Bielefeld and Gil Vicente fc of Portugal midfield maestro arrived on Tuesday night to boast the Chipolopolo Boys ahead of a mouth-watering encounter.
According to FAZ Press statement released on Wednesday morning Mulenga had the blessings from the mother body while Mweene was stopped from traveling by his club. As for Fwayo he had a Visa hiccup.
“Despite sending Mweene his ticket and confirming his availability, his club (Free State Stars) stopped him from traveling on the night of Monday.”
“In the matter of Mulenga, his club asked for special permission for him to stay while Fwayo Tembo was not allowed to board a Royal Morocco Airlines plane in Tunisia because he did not have sufficient pages for Visa endorsement in his passport,” read the statement.
Since moving to Tunisia late last year, Fwayo is slowly fulfilling his potential. On Sunday the teen whiz kid scored a brace for Etoile du Sahel.
Formation: 4-1-4-1 or 4-5-1
…………….Kalililo Kakonje….
Nkausu………Chintu…..Hichani….. Chivuta….
………………… Hachipuka……..
Sakuwaha…..Kalaba……. Katongo….Clifford…
………………….Mbesuma…..
With the trio’s withdraw; Herve Renard has only 16 players at his disposal with only one goalkeeper Kalililo Kakonje after the last minute inclusion by FAZ on Monday of Zesco United shot stopper Jacob Banda failed.
Mulenga, Fwayo and Mweene are the latest players set to miss the match. Injured duo of Felix Katongo and James Chamanga as well as fit-again Isaac Chansa was omitted for this encounter.
With the trio out, Renard is expected to reshuffle his starting line up. South African based winger Clifford Mulenga and local lad Jonas Sakuwaha will replace Fwayo and Jacob respectively while Kakonje picks himself automatically in goal.
Probable Line-up
Kalililo Kakonje-Nkausu, Chintu, Hichani, Chivuta- Hachipuka- Sakuwaha, Kalaba, Katongo, Clifford-Mbesuma
Subs: E.Mayuka, J.Musonda, F.Sunzu Jr, F.Kasonde, E.Tana

This is not just absurd, but frustrating.
I had a feeling this would happen.Further comments reserved!!
in the moroco preview article i commented that during such games, the net should be cast wide for other professionals to be tried as well.in as much moroco is a good side 50% of our players who are likely to playing in the qualifying games wont be tried and tested.i attribute this due to poor communication and maybe lack of seriousness on our african players.i say african players becoz nigeria, ivory coast are facing the same problem of players failing to turn up.its a big draw back
This makes sad reading but I am not sure if its exclusively African players who shun friendlies. I am sure you have read about Steve G in the England squad. Scotland is playing Argentina today in a friendly and like has happened in previous friendlies there were alot of late call-offs (usually feigning injuries). Messi is also not featuring for Argentina despite earlier assurances that he will be available. There is still the issue of Club Vs Country at play across the globe.
We don’t know for sure the real problem in our case, I am just hoping it is not something silly like air tickets not being received in time!!!
Otherwise all the best to the lads and big up Zamfoot for the update.
Thanks zamfoot for keeping the info flowing. We await more information on this. But it sure is a very sad development.
All the best Chipolopolo.
I saw it coming. This is not a good development. The guys missing in the team are the ones who will be playing in the qualifiers. The likes of Chansa, Fwayo, Jacob, Sinkala, Chamanga, Felix and Mweene. For those who are injured one can understand. But the rest there are no valid reasons not to go to Morocco as they knew of this game quite sometime ago. These friendlies are so important as this is an opportunity for players to gel and get to each other well and better on the field of play. We should take a leaf from our brothers from west and north africa. Like DaMwiinger said, excuses like air tickets, visas and flight connections should not even be intertained as this should have been sorted last week or before.
Anway, somehow this was expected. Good luck chipolopolo.
It’s unfortunate that player that Renard & FAZ rely on so much are not that “serious”
Clifford Mulenga and Sinkala are keen to be tested and yet are being ignored.
Whoever talks to Renard, please advise him to cast the net wide and select players on Merit.
Clifford shines for his club in every game and yet no Call up seems to be coming his way.
Come on FAZ, use this time to prepare thoroughly
FAZ,FAZ,poor organisation @ the football house is not a secret & i ague the coach to dicspline all the players who have shun the friendly for no proper reasons,,if some players think they have no competition please RENARD please prove the players wrong, they are so so …
Ba Zambia, JHB Clifford is part of the team in Morroco. But I agree with you that our coach does not seem to understand the meaning of the word depth. He is way to insistant on the same players as such he has not developed any pool to draw from.
And FAZ, what is this easy going on players every time they ask to be excused. No reason for Chamanga twice in a row, no reason for Jacob. What is it, as long as they ask it is fine?? is that the policy??
Eish this is sad, I for one was really hoping to see if jacob can replicate his current form in chipolopolo. Whats going to be doone about free state stars, are you guys going to take it up with FIFA??
Tthis is a high proofile friendly and more so it is preparation for our dream of a world cup appearance and yet only 16 players will be in Morocco. We sometimes can be a joke, even small teams playing on dusty grounds in cchilenje have a sub keeper available.
Too bad for Zed, I hope we do our best with our lads available.
this is not good at all,its a sacntioned fifa day, south africa is playing cameroun and there is no reason to keep mweene, i guess its the same in france and the rest of the countiries.fwayo and the visa hick does not make sense at all.we should learn from nigerians who decided to call on other players the moment they knew some players were not going to come for the moroco game.sichone, sinkala, boyd mwila, mayuka would have been included to beef up the squad
South African clubs should not patronise Zambia. To hear that Free State Stars have barred Kennedy Mweene for turning out for Zambia in the Maghreb outing is shear stupidity. FAZ must pursue the matter with FIFA so that Mweene is banned from featuring in Free State forthcoming engagements. There is no way a team can play without a sub goalie. Morocco and other big teams may in future decline to play Zambia in preparatory games if this rot is not checked. Serious teams always want to play high profile friendly matches with teams at their full strength. I do not know about Zambia!
Bane bloggers, let us not just comment. let us also read the stories posted by Zamfoot before commenting. some guys are asking questions which are already dealt with in the article. Mulekwata Amano!
Apart from Fwayo Tembo the guys like Isaac,Jacob & Kennedy should have pitched for the game. These are the payers we will be using for the 2010 qualifiers.I know Fwayo would have liked to be there but he has a Caf Confederation Cup Final 2nd leg against rivals Sfaxien. This will be an important game for the young lad as Etoile du Sahel drew 0-0 away from home 2 weeks ago in the first Leg.
I also believe Fwayo has alot to offfer for the Snr. National team he may be soon a regular for the National Team going by his form.
Fwayo story story sound like Chicken George story, the boy was here last month with under 20, why did he not get a new passport? As a football player his passport will be out in one day.
Yabaa!!!! Iliko bad basa. Big game in readiness for the biggest tournament and we only have 16 players in camp, out of which a maximum of 6 command first team place (and that is after you exclude Sinkala from the absentees). Why would FAZ agree to Berri’s request not to release Jacob? What’s the logic? Chansa is having his priorities messed up and why is Chamanga also excused.
This is so saddening. For once we have a proper friendly and then we can’t have all our top players!!!!
I don’t understand Zambia. Why always go with one ot two keepers, a normal team should take three keepers.
I hope that we don’t get massacred tonight. We don’t need our moral to be crushed before we visit Cairo. Guys, sorry but I have seen enough mistakes from J. Musonda to last a lifetime. The guy is a liability and even through he might be doing alright at his club he is useless.
Queit upsetting, but FAZ, should learn to put in contingency measures all the time. Though genuine excuses, these to me are lame excuses from the organisers in this case FAZ. We have a lot of players that havent been tested yet and these should have been roped in. Unless, as usual Renard didnt want to call them.
In any case, we have lost a chance to have nearly all our players.
Good luck chipolopolo.
Zambian players always seem to have “Visa” problems. You would think that these guys are teenagers or dont know how to manage there own personal lives. This is sad and disappointing, its not like this game was a last min thing.
Guys edwin phiri should have been called up. Joseph Musonda has been there for three yrs and failed.
Poor planning at it’s best
Guyz jacob banda is the other goalkeepker in morocco
Let us wait & see.good luck ZAMBIA. Win,draw or lose, zambian 4 life. Ba faz bafi…,grow up!
This is extremely disappointing and speaks to the incompetence of FAZ. Why are these visa problems not visited once the games are confirmed? This is unacceptable! I don’t know what could be the problem in obtaining a visa in France given their relations with Arab countries! As for Mweene, his team cannot just refuse to send him, this is a FIFA sanctioned day. FAZ, you have to revisit this. In as much as other teams experienced withdrawals, at least they knew ahead of time to pick replacements. I don’t know how many international players are in Chateauroux’s team, but does anyone know if they prevented all of them from leaving?
Anyhow, I wish the team all the best. Any links for the game anyone?
Awe sure!!.16 players with no reserve goalie at such a major friendly?.What happens if Kalililo gets a knock say 10
minutes into the game?.HR,this why we are insisting that you asses more players so that you have a large pool to pick from. Some players staying away without any special reasons, but if it is Big Mo & Sinkala we say they are arrogant??.FAZ should report Freestate Stars to FIFA if Mweene’s claim is true.May be that can be a lesson to other clubs that don’t have respect for FIFA regulations.Anyway go Zambia go
Emmanuel, is the guy actually in Morocco?
If FAZ were serious they would have called.
Steven Kunda
Chanda Mwaba
Edwin Phiri
Micheck Lungu
Donwell Yobe
Dominic Yobe
Boyd Mwila
Andrew Sinkala
Guys, I have an idea. Let’s organise an Allstar game, current national team vs the names above plus four others. If the game is organised on a Fifa recognised date all the pro’s would be available and it would be a sure crowd puller.
This sounds very very insane, after crying for friendly games Vs a reputable side like Morocco all we get are withdraws. What happens if we are get whalloped by Morocco, is there any strong team that will want to play us, I doubt that. We shall never be serious. All my GOD this is a shock
Folks, Jacob Mulenga is in the starting lineup and Mbesuma starts on the bench. So he did make it after all. Where did we get the news that he was no available?
Where is the defence? Morroco just scored with so much ease!
This game has Cameroon written all over it. Morroco are almost three up and we have barely touched the ball.
