Trials Watch: Chisamba impressing in Russia

November 17, 2008

Two Zambian under-20 stars; Chisamba Lungu and Nathan Sinkala (pictured below) arrived safely in Moscow, Russia on Friday afternoon and joined the rest of their under-20 internationals counterparts from Nigeria, Ghana and Cameroon in an evening work out at Locomotiv Stadium, home ground to Locomotiv Moscow.

According to the Russian based agent who secured the inclusion of the two Zambian starlets, dribbling wizard Chisamba Lungu  was an instant hit.

Below is un edited version  of what the agent said  on Friday night after the training session.

Today we had a train in covered field, I understand the players are tired to fly, and they are not playing at full strength. but we are very pleased (Chisamba) Lungu, today he played very well, we all impressed his skilfull game.
Nathan (Sinkala) looked a bit tired and not moving much, but I think this is the first day and this why.My  brothers (agents in our company) before me did not believe that Zambia has good players, I told them to wait and see, today they told me that yes this is true. This is very good now, they will rely more on Zambia.

And on Sunday, he said Sinkala, “Today Sinkala played well in training.”

The two lads will be in action today when the ‘African Select side’ takes on Locomotive Moscow reserve (under-21) side in a match that will be watched by top Russian clubs scouts and coaches.

On the Wednesday, the ‘African select side’ which consist of 8 Nigerians, three from Ghana and two each from Cameroon and Zambia will face CSKA Moscow. And on Friday, the team will wrap up it’s trials with either date with Zenit Pietersburg or Spartak Moscow.
Lungu is an attacking midfielder though he usually plays as a winger for Zanaco. While Sinkala, the young brother to Germany based midfielder Andrew Sinkala is a holding midfielder.

Meanwhile International striker Rodger Kola’s trials are also progressing well at Swedish giants and Isaac Chansa’s club Helsingborg. According to the official club website, Kola featured in the under-21’s last training match of the season and they won 6-1, but it did not state whether the former Real Madrid trialist was on target.

On Kola’s verdict posted on the club website it read Rodger Kola played good today (Saturday). His technique was good and he has some good touches, but he had a little difficult in adapting to Helsingborg style of play.

The 19 year old striker initially left the country to attend trials in Norway but last week he moved to Sweden.

Kola should bag this one at least, eish this globe trooting is not good for his confidence, he will begin to doubt himself. I am keeping my fingers crossed he bags this one and hope Isaac throws in some good words for the lad seeing Isaac in now a senior player in the team.
Good to hear about Chisamba Lungu, hopefully Nathan recovers from the jet lag quickly and also starts making his mark.

I wish the lads all the best, hope they make it, i highly doubt Kola will though, the boy is in a hurry to make a big move and hence he is beginning to do things under panic mode, he needs to learn how to be a striker first before his exploits can be noticed, limbi he should start in the PSL where they have equipment, in all honesty i feel that Zanaco is not a team to play for, many potentially good careers have gone to waste at zanaco, lwipa being one of them, im worried about Henry Banda and Chisamba being their with no proper guidance, lets face it there is nothing to learn at Zanaco, “big money” big buys, small coach,

I agree with Big Steve, lets hope kola bags this one. I hate trials, they can erode someones personal confidence if he fails one too many! Hopefully this works out for the lad.

Helsingborg have an amazing striker in Makondele. After his amazing run there is big possibility that the club wiill want to cash in on him in January. The DRC striker has been an amazing revelation at the club and has done just about enough to see him make a big money move.
This will be a big factor should Kola impress, this is one of the best opportunities to clinch something at the club as Larsson as well is on his way out. There must be a big need for strikers now so the boy just has to give his all.
though I am keeping my fingers crossed for the boy I agree with Ba Wille, the boy still needs a lot of nurturing in his game. He has the big advantage of having time on his hands going by his age. He and his agents need to escape this panic mode m, he still has lots of time.

Good to hear that Chisamba is impressing. I also hope Kola clinches this one.

What’s this rumor that Zambia doesn’t have good players? Anyway, it would be great if Kola gets to learn from a real master like Henrik Larson. Henky is a great example of deadly striker, we thought after he broke his leg at Celtic he would never return. He managed to refine his game and actually became much better, playing the simplest football, he scores with one or two touches, great in the air aswell.

Good for Chisamba,I hope Nathan brings out his skill as well.I think the guy behind their move should be commended b’coz this is the first time we are seeing our players at such tourneys.if the two guys don’t do well we might even see more of our players at such tourneys in future. The people managing Kola should be fair & put the career of the lad first.Kola has moved a lot & he has never settled at any club b’coz they are just too fast in trying to make money out his move.I only hope he clinches this one.GOOD LUCK KOLA

Zamfoot, where are Kalu answers to the questions we asked, lest we forget what we asked him!?

Thanx Zamfoot for the assurance. Can’t just wait!

Is Nathan related to Andrew Sinkala.
    There’s a passing resemblance.
    How old is he [Nathan]?

  13. Jaggari on Mon, 17th Nov 2008 6:42 PM

    My bad.
Ignore my question…just saw the answer.

Thanks Zamfoot for your commitment and contributions to the development of soccer. Above all, thanks for giving us the much needed forum to express ourselves.

Kola’s is a classic case. I don’t know what type of influence Kalu has on the world stage. This is clearly where you need an advocate for our players that will request that they be given the opportunity to settle down and prove themselves. I hope there are some advisors in Kola’s corner who will keep him encouraged regardless of the outcome. I wish all the young men all the best.
