Fwayo scores a brace for Tunisian side

New national team call-up Fwayo Tembo scored a brace in his club’s 3-0 win over Jandouba Sport in the ninth round of the Tunisian Super League.

The 19 year old started the match on the right wing and in the second half he drifted into his favoured position upfront as one of the two twin-strikers.

Fwayo has broken into the Etoile Du Sahel this season and has been a regular in the Tunisian giants’ starting line-up.

After impressing Chipolopolo Boys trainer Herve Renard in the Zambia under-20’s clash against the Young Pharaohs of Egypt, the 2007 African Youth Championship top scorer earned himself a call up to the senior squad scheduled to face Morocco in Rabat this Wednesday. Fwayo is poised to earn his first international cap.

Still in the Zambian Players Abroad review, Francis Kombe scored for Golden Arrows, as they beat Moroka Swallows 1-0 to go top of the South African Absa Premiership table on Sunday afternoon.

Kombe has now scored three goals since moving to Arrows in a controversial move from Kitwe giants Power Dynamos.

Meanwhile, Zesco United striker Jonas Sakuwaha’s fairytale continues after he was included in a full strength Chipolopolo Boys squad set to face Morocco.

Fwayo is really a galactico. Way to go man. Let that scoring spree spill over to the National Team this coming Wednesday and other games to come..

Kombe has continued to impress. I hope the issue behind his signing gets sorted out very soon so that he can concentrate on the game even more. He seems to be aiming for the sky this season. He definitely deserves a place in our national side (as we try to quench the goal drought that has gripped us for some time now)

Six strikers and only four midfielders. Somewhat dodgy to me considering as well that Chris is more of a striker than a midfielder technically making it only three midfilders going to Morroco.

What Happened to Clifford I thought he was called for this game??

So basically, it is one defensive midfielder. So if he gets a knock what then, Francis or Chintu will then have to be thrown out of their natural positions?

Players with no game time under their belts (Collins, Davies and Noah) on what basis are they making the team? (Noah played this weekend but is one game enough??)

I dont want to sound all negative. One big up is that we dont have jockers like Hachilense in the team. That is a relief. Most of these players are getting good game time and we now have a consistent goal scorer in Jacob.
We will beat morocco I believe and we will do so with more than one goal.

Bravo to Fwayo and Kombe, impressive to see that Kombe continues to score, he could be the next Mbesuma, Katongo and Chamanga who went on to be top scorers in the PSL, the team to play Morroco seems fine to me, ofcourse missing some players and again of high significance Andrew Sinkala, we know that the people who make the decisions at FAZ read this blogg so yes im bringing up the issue of Sinkala, i hope the assuarnce given to us was not mere lip service to shut us up coz until we see sinks in the Zambian colors, then and only then will i stop the calls for his inclusion. As for the squad i wish them luck, make us proud, GO ZAMBIA GO!!!!!

Thanks for the clarity Zamfoot, that somewhat settles the midfileder striker number imbalance.

    Thanks again.

its good to hear that a few of our strikers are scoring goals ie jacob and fwayo along with rainford.i only hope this will spill over to the national team.selection shud be based on how many times some one has played for his club, its not gonna make sense call some one whos been warming the bench.players like clive, mbesuma and kakonje shud tek a brake coz they are not performing at all.renard shud also tek time to acces chris whos had a bad spell at his club in germany

This is really the best we have although the presence of Chansa, Felix, Chamanga and Andrew would have completed the squad. But I think upfront we have lots of options. Big up to Fwayo. The boys is really doing just fine. He knows the way Arabs play and this is a plus. This is a good squad.

Great show Fwayo if you continue doing that you may end up like Zaki!

  • Mabbwana wrote on 17 November, 2008, 13:25

The ‘Galactico’ can surely an interesting player to watch. If he could keep up the scoring, am sure he will go places because he has the skill.

The team looks good with options in most departments apart from the defensive midfield were Hachi is alone like Big Steve has observed.

If we could work on that then find a consistent goal scoring partnership upfront, then we should be on the right path.

Otherwise all the best to the team.

Let us wait and see.Maybe this time there shall be redemption.I think, most of the Arab Countries use the wings for attacking,so we may just need xtra careful, not to leave gaps.We are also not good in defending set-pieces.

  • Dinamo wrote on 17 November, 2008, 15:05

Way to go ‘Galactico’.Atleast we can now talk about Jacob,Kalaba & Kombe (though the ka chap has no manners)

  • Alex wrote on 17 November, 2008, 15:51

Good squad. All the strikers are in good form except for mbesuma who has ittle game time. with clifford on the left wing, kalaba on the right and tsunami just behind the Two strikers fwayo and jacob -we have all the weapons to accomodate our bullets [enemy position spotted fire!!!!!] five dependable options what a squad.Defence looks intact though this should have been the best opportunity to try out sinkala in holding midfield. weeeleee!!!

  • Matafwali wrote on 17 November, 2008, 20:09

Team seems good to me. Like others, I worry about the midfield. It looks very thin, in terms of options. Hachipuka aside, are any of these other players amongst the midfielders and forwards defensive minded?

I wish the team all the best. I have a feeling Zambia will win this game. I hope we can catch the game online somewhere.

Good job Fwayo and the likes of Jacob Mulenga, Kombe, all the hard working Zambian Pros. I feel that not all seasons are equal for each player. Look at Chris, McCathy, and Others in various legues.

  • Mulekwata Amano wrote on 18 November, 2008, 8:32

Fwayo if he keeps his head will be a great player. He has been a revelation who is now seriously threatening to fulfil his long known potential. We can only wish him the best.
As for Kombe, with the controversy that has surrounded his career he needs to keep knocking them in. He is a brilliant lad who properly sat down can do wonders.
