In-form Jacob Mulenga propels his club

November 15th, 2008

French based striker Jacob Mulenga propelled his ligue 2 side Berrichonne Chateauroux to a 1-0 victory on Friday night as the struggling side moved out of the relegation zone.Click here to Watch Jacob Mulenga’s goal against Vannes

Mulenga who is in rich vein of form scored in the 24th minute to hand Chateauroux maximum points over eighth placed Vannes. The 24 year old lanky striker is now four goals behind the leading top scorer in the second tier after he netted his fifth league goal of the season in 9 appearances. He now has a total tally of six goals in all competitions.

The Kitwe born and bred striker has so far scored five goals in four consecutive matches since returning from an injury that saw him miss six matches.

Since moving to France in the 2004/05 season, Mulenga has failed to reach double figures.

In his first season, he scored  6 goals in 15 appearances and scored the same number of goals in 2005/06 campaign though he played ten more matches.

His best campaign saw him score 7 goals in 38 matches in the 2006/07 season. Last season the physical and powerful striker failed to impress in the French top flight and could only manage a goal in 22 appearances for Racing Strasbourg were he was on loan.

Thanx Zamtoot for the links. Like Isaid on the other forum, should Jacob continue with this form, it is very likely that he could get a signing into league 1 (or even the EPL). All in all, I hope his extends this very impressive form to the National Team.

This chap has grown into man. Aya te ma luck iyo, the boy is on his way to reach his peak and I am 100% sure that should he continue like this, his club might as well start looking for a replacement in form of Francis Kombe. This goal he scored shows he has developed a nose for the goal and that is how a striker should be. Lesa akupale mwaiche. The question is who should partner him up from muli the Chipolopolo

I have always liked this guy ’s way of playing,If you look at the game in capetown he was a menance in BB’s defence i foresee him getting to a bigger club if he continues with his current form.It is so soothing to have someone scoring especially that we have a scoring drought at national level at the moment.
